Survivor Story Respectfully Presented
Rape counselor Dawn is brutally attacked and raped by a lesbian hating man. Thankfully, a sexual assault police officer Aiden, who is eminently compassionate and protective responds to the police scanner report about the assault. Aiden feels overwhelmingly protective about Dawn. As the two women navigate the horrific process, and Dawn’s PTSD symptoms they grow emotionally closer. Eventually they admit to growing attraction but Dawn’s nightmares and panic attacks make everything more difficult. Aiden has plenty of baggage too. The two women give each other a safe place to share love and family. This is a difficult book to read for a survivor. I am a survivor and took breaks from reading. But I wish every woman survivor would be helped by someone as devoted as Aiden.

This is really a good read. It’s written well and really helps understand why rape has such a poor conviction rate & just really entertains with the interactions of all the characters. There is definitely depth to them all which isn’t an easy thing to do. Don’t be turned off by the subject because this is an exercise about how it ripple effects everyone who knows the victim. Definitely plan on reading the entire series!~castaway.
So much love for this book!
I didn't expect to get the highlighter out for a fiction work. Yet, I did! I was captured by the relationship wisdom Jae shared through Aiden and Dawn. This is her second book I've read. Each bringing forth so much emotion in me. There was never a point where the emotions were too intense. I never felt like I needed to put the book down for a while. At first I was concerned that the topic of rape may be to much for me. Jae was very gentle in her writing and characters. Great book.
