Having advised many CROs in the Private Equity space in the past 10 years, JD's book is the clearest map to success I have seen. He clearly outlines what must be done and in the right sequence. However, the secret sauce is JD's great advice on HOW to accomplish these important tasks, while collaborating with the C-Suite and Board. Few CRO's have JD's proven track record of delivering success for investors while growing and developing leaders and individual contributors. Highly recommended, especially for the ascending Sales VP looking for their first CRO role. My highly marked up copy is now on my reference shelf.

The CRO’s Guide to Winning in Private Equity: A Practical Roadmap for Sales Leaders by JD Miller is classified as a private equity and strategic management type of book. My husband is a sales person, so he definitely found this book motivating. I deal with sales here and there but not on a daily basis as he does. I still found this book very helpful and practical. It did go a little more in depth than what I deal with currently, but it could be very helpful for me down the line! I would highly encourage anyone in sales to read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forming plans grounded in reality - to manage success and exceed expectations.

The author shares his professional experiences in planning and tactics – amassed and used over decades - to develop effective people and to create continued revenue generation for organisations. The book shows how large numbers of people in organisations are involved in decision-making, communication of ideas, marketing and strategic planning. It demonstrates how integration of services, evaluation and taking informed actions - driven by data - can make plans a reality. Topics include: work cultures, recruitment and retention, also collaboration with cross-functional teams, and the importance of setting the right goals and incentives for high-performing individuals. The book details how engaging with your partners can lead to establishing annual recurring revenue. An understanding is needed of customer satisfaction, business health and of the overall expansion or contraction of the economy. I found the book both interesting and informative. It contains templates, tools and links to bonus materials that can be downloaded and put into immediate use.
