Great read, not preachy in any way as I have found some leadership books, and one I've recommended to others.
The hard-hitting introduction of this book perfectly summarises the harm that the Influence Gap is having, not only to women in the workplace but on organisations globally. An excellent practical and no-nonsense guide on how to develop your own leadership style as a woman (without needing to imitate men in the workplace). I’ll be keeping my copy as a reminder on how to prepare for tricky situations or conversations and giving copies to the women I know who are struggling with how to make their way as leaders of the future. Every capable woman who wants to progress their career should have a copy. Wish I’d read this 15 years ago!

5.0 out of 5 stars Reassuring, interesting and helped me secure a job promotion
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAs my fist ever kindle purchase, I was nervous but I loved the way you could easily jump between sections and the book referenced other chapters or further reading. As someone who has missed out before to a man successfully securing the promotion and difficult workplace cultures, I have bucket loads of self doubt and very nearly didn't apply and withdrew my application to interview for a job I was already acting up in. Carla's book was an easy read, filled with examples and each chapter was well structured. It came me confidence, reassured me and helped me believe in myself! I shared the Valley of Doom in interview which went down an absolute storm, the panel loved it. Thank you Carla. Would recommend to any female leaders or those taking the next step in their career.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical advice that you can easily implement
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI've listened to Carla's podcast for a while and also attended some of her virtual coaching sessions. This book shares some incredibly practical advice that I think most people can implement relatively easily to help progress their careers. I've found when sharing elements with others, some of the suggestions might initially seem common sense, but the number of times I've reflected that while it may seem like common sense, I'm obviously not implementing it right now was interesting!
Great read, not preachy in any way as I have found some leadership books, and one I've recommended to others.
