Caged in Darkness combines the most addictive tropes: MC, military, MM, instant attraction, and age gap, all wrapped in darkness. This book is steamy and the beginning is pure perfection. It simply lures you in and leaves you craving for more.

It takes place in London and the descriptions are so on point that you can almost visualize it. Amy Thorn created a brilliant story full of breadcrumbs, guaranteed to make you turn page after page. Broken and flawed characters that are perfect in their imperfection. Thanatos is the president of the Black Death Riders MC. He is full of rage, commanding, and oozes power. No one contradicts him or gets in his way.

Isaac is lost after being discharged from the Army. So when his brother sponsors him to be a prospect for the Black Death Riders, he seizes the opportunity. He has demons of his own. The last he expects when he finally feels part of something is to be attracted to his boss.

Than and Isaac's interactions are primal yet complex. They share their vulnerability once the door is closed, and it's mesmerizing. And when they finally are getting somewhere, the book ends. Yes, there is a cliffhanger. But it's so worth it because this story is phenomenal.

When Isaac was discharged from the Army, his life lost meaning. With no brothers in arms to fight alongside and protect, Isaac drifted. When his brother, Ethan, offered to sponsor him as a prospect in the Black Death Riders Motorcycle Club, Isaac saw it as his chance to find brotherhood and family again. But life in this MC isn’t a part time job and soon Isaac finds himself in the middle of a different kind of war. As the Black Death Riders go after a rival syndicate, Isaac fights his feelings for the MC president, Thanatos. Than has too many demons and too many enemies to risk having feelings for Isaac, but when neither one can hold back anymore, Than and Isaac will put their love and their lives on the line for a chance at something they never thought they’d get again.

Caged in Darkness is the first book in a duology by Amy Thorn. I absolutely loved this book, but I will warn you now: this first book in the duology ends on a major cliffhanger. If cliffhangers aren’t your thing, I would definitely suggest waiting until the second book, Caged in Fire, is released before attempting this one.

Overall, I thought Caged in Darkness was a very well done book. There’s emotion, action, past traumas, and healing, all set in a dark world full of revenge. I really enjoyed the setting; it was modern London, but it was dark and gritty and seedy. I also found the plot to be a bit more unique than the standard motorcycle club novels I usually come across; instead of MCs staking claim and warring against each other, I loved that Thorn had Thanatos and his MC warring against a crime syndicate. While their methods weren’t usually on the legal side of the law, the Black Death Riders MC were out to right wrongs and shut down the horrible things going down in dark alleys and abandoned buildings. They, especially Thanatos, saw themselves as the bad guys, but it was definitely not that black and white. Isaac was a great character, especially to act as a complement and a foil to Thanatos. While Than became battle-hardened on the streets, Isaac is haunted by his time in Afghanistan. Both are alphas in their own right, and those competing personalities made for some great tension on the page. Both main characters were wonderfully developed; with troubled pasts, both Isaac and Thanatos came across as tough and vulnerable, especially when it came to love and letting someone in.

There are mentions of, and flashbacks to, war, trauma, and severe feelings of guilt, but I think Thorn wrote it well while her characters approached it with sensitivity. The plot was action packed from start to finish, and I wish the second book in the duology was out while I write this because I really need to know what happens after Caged in Darkness ends.

After being discharged from the military, Isaac is in search of a brotherhood, a place to belong and finds himself prospecting with his older brother’s motorcycle club - the Black Death Riders MC. From the second Isaac sees the MC’s president, Thanatos, they’re immediately drawn to each other.

I liked that Isaac didn’t lose his edge around Than. He was confident and maybe a little too outspoken at times for being an MC prospect, but Than needed someone to challenge him. Than’s darkness is a little overwhelming, for him and for those around him, and Isaac helps him pull himself out of the dark hole he’s been living in for years.

I’m not a huge fan of insta-love stories and, even though Than and Isaac don’t say the L-word to each other, they were clearly infatuated with each other and let that connection influence their actions throughout this first half of their story. This is an MC romance, but it felt like it went a little too far in attempts to make this a dark and gritty story. This one ends on a cliffhanger, so beware if you’re reading book 1 before book 2 comes out!

Having said that, I loved this book and the passion between Isaac, 27yo and Thanatos, 41yo. Than is the Prez of the Black Death Riders, who much as their name suggests, kill, but they are selective. For Than’s sister, Tillie the Riders will do anything. What happened to her was appalling and mentioned in the book, but not on page. This book will end on a cliffhanger and be continued in CAGED IN FIRE. Can Thanatos who has only hate in his heart until he meets Isaac make a change? Will circumstances prove to him that he still has a heart although badly damaged after Tillie’s death? I’m off to read the sequel and I can’t wait. Read the blurb for the basics of the plot.
I wanted to read this book because of some of the bad reviews actually. I give it 4.5 scintillating, passionate stars. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Gay Romance Reviews.

I've been looking forward to this for so long now as it's 2 of my favourite genres together.. MM and MC whats not to love about these being combined!
Thanatos is President of the MC.. hes very alpha.. strong.. independent and used to getting his own way.
So what will happen when new Prospect Isaac rocks up the family and starts to make him actually start to feel things he hasn't for a long time?
Isaac joins the MC after leaving the army so is also strong.. Alpha.. and doesn't let anyone push him around.. what he doesn't expect in this new part of his journey is someone who can bring him to his knees!
Great intense chemistry between these pair with a hard hitting storyline that keeps you very drawn into reading.
This books leaves you practically begging for more and book 2 has been pre ordered as I impatiently await it's arrival to see whats next for these guys!

A short but very intense angsty read by Amy Thorn. This is my first taste of this authors work. I read a fair bit of MM but this is my first in MC setting. The story is a change from reading sports related books and it's not quite mafia but very close. Moving on to the next book to see what is next! Will they end up with a HEA?
