Blazing Hot: Bad Boy Firefighter Roommate Romance (Californian Wildfire Fighters Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 88 ratings

Rugged loner Landon Brenner has a problem and she’s beautiful, intelligent, and he’s falling for her—fast. Injured while fighting the fire threatening the small town of Cedar Springs, and haunted by past failures that drive him to get back to the action despite his injuries, Landon reluctantly agrees to take a room in the house of the sexy nurse who treated him while he was in the hospital. Their attraction is combustible, and the more time they spend together, the more Landon finds himself yearning for more than just a temporary fling.

It’s hard not to fall for a guy who likes to go around saving everything in his path—from small animals to people—but Alexandra Appleby is determined to resist Landon’s many charms. He’s too much like her late husband Henry, a cop who died in the line of duty. She doesn’t need another hero in her life. A man around who rushes into danger without thinking twice. And she sure as heck doesn’t want to fall in love with a man whose bravery could kill him—and leave her heartbroken. She’s got her job and she’s perfectly content to spend the rest of her days alone. But Alex can’t help thinking that maybe, just maybe, Landon is worth putting her heart on the line.

As the fire creeps ever closer to Cedar Springs, will Landon and Alex put aside their fears—and the past—to find a way into each other’s hearts?

New to Leslie? Dive into 'The Bossy One'—a sidesplitting grumpy bosshole rom-com that’s guaranteed to tickle your funny bone!

Leslie North is a USA Today Bestselling pen name for a mysterious author who spins romantic comedies and contemporary romances like a boss (a very bossy one, at that). The cloak of anonymity lets her unleash her wildest creativity, especially in those steamy, swoon-worthy scenes that’ll make you blush.

Leslie’s affair with romance began when she stumbled upon a dog-eared romance novel in her local library. She started writing shortly after and, as they say, the rest was a hysterical, heartwarming history. Now, she lives in a cozy cottage on the British coast, where she takes long, leisurely walks with her two Dalmatians, George and Fergie, who are as mischievous as they sound.

Fun fact: Leslie loves her alter-ego more than her real-life self! Her books are jam-packed with feisty laugh-out-loud characters, especially women who aren’t afraid to take on a grumpy bosszilla. And the humor? Let's just say you'll need to warn people around you about the sudden outbursts of laughter.

She’s head-over-heels for reader feedback, so if you’ve got something to say, don’t be shy—reach out and make her day!

The book was filled with action and a lot of suspense. I enjoyed reading the book and have no problem reading another book by this author.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Alexandra (Alex) Appleby and Landon Brenner. Landon has been a man who gets in there and gets the job done. However on this particular fire he overestimated his own skills. While trying to save a dog he finds himself trap under a tree. Luckily he was saved before it took his life but now comes the aftermath from what happened during that rescue. Alex is working in a private hospital with a letch of a boss. So when he tells her the hospital can't pay any more overtime but offers to let her volunteer she takes that option. Not so she can be near the boss but so she doesn't have to sit at home alone and dwell on things. Can these two find the HEA they are both craving but won't admit or will the outside world make that impossible?

This is an amazing book. It does have its ups and downs that will have you on the edge of your seat the whole way through. There are many things I want to tell you about this book but I don't want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say that this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Landon was fighting a wild fire when he sees a dog begging for help .he decided no animal or person is going to die again in his watch. So he jumps over the flames and gets the dog but just as they almost are clear a tree starts falling and he gets trapped under it.He tries to get free but if it's his time he accepts it.When he sees another fire fighter lifting the tree off him. When he comes too he's higher than a kite but looks up and sees what is the most beautiful woman in the world so he must have died because she has to be an angel. When Alex helps with the injured firefighter she is attracted to him but she knows it can't happen because she'll never let herself fall for a man in uniform again. She doesn't think she can handle another loss like she went through .But for some reason she spends as much time as she can with Landon even in her days off.Landon can't stop waiting each day to see Alex.He wants to know everything about her.He wants her in his life. What he can't figure out is why she seems to pull away when he asks her for a date. Will these two emotionally scarred people be able to help each other heal? The twists and turns to this story will keep you riveted until the very last page.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.I love the way this amazing author brings the characters to life before your eyes.I voluntarily decided to review this advanced reader copy because it's a great adult romance story and I wanted other avid adult romance readers to know it's so worth reading.

It was okay. Steamy, but I couldn't connect to the characters. It was a fast read, perfect for a quick afternoon read.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second book in the Californian Wildfire Fighters series. This second book picks up a few days after the first book ended. In this book, Landon, another of the Alaskan firefighters is injured while fighting the wildfire and trying to save a stray dog. When Landon wakes in the hospital, he sees his nurse Alex and wonders if she is an angel. Alex is a widow who works as a nurse as much as she can and has not really moved on from the death of her husband, who was a police officer killed in the line of duty. When Landon asks Alex out, she declines. When Landon needs a place to stay after his bed was given to another volunteer firefighter, he learns Alex has a spare room. When Alex offers it to Landon, she tells him it will be with boundaries. Soon both Alex and Landon are fighting their attraction to one another. When they begin to see each other romantically, Alex has second thoughts and knows she is not really over her late husband. I really like this fast paced series. I really liked Landon and thought he loved Alex, but he knew she had to deal with her past. I think Alex wasn't ready to grieve before and now was the time. Good one.

3.0 out of 5 stars This Fell Flat

This book was too short. And not "too short" in the "oh I don't want it to end" way but in the "why is the pacing so weird" way. Everything happened too fast and ended up feeling detached. I felt completely detached from the characters to be precise. I don't really know what the problem was or if maybe it was simply a case of too much telling not enough showing. Their meeting held so much promise but the rest of the book was just flat. There was no build up of sexual tension, romantic tension, heartbreak, or resolution.
    Let me break it down:
They had one scene together while they were platonic roommates that I think was supposed to be the backbone of the sexual tension between them but it wasn't sexy and the only tension was from the cat. One "fresh from the shower" scene does not a build up make.
Then suddenly they're together. No fuss, no muss, one minute they're platonic the next we're told they're screwing like bunnies. No build up, just bam! And while they're "together" they both have one foot out the door. Also we never really see them talk to each other. We're told they do but there's nothing to actually look back on. Even the conversations they have aren't exactly relationship builders.
Then suddenly they're both done with the relationship due to both of them having one foot out the door and while both are "sad" neither is emotional. They're both so flat. Then suddenly they love each other and are having a HEA! Like what?? Where is the communication?? Where is the talking even?? Why is all of the characterization so bland and inconsistent???
*sigh* I guess my biggest problem is that everything just felt flat and disjointed.
