This book has it all! The complex characters you can expect from this author, excitement, danger, and a burgeoning romance besides. Firefighter Flash witnesses a murder by a cartel member. Special Agent Athena runs the FBI department trying go take that same cartel down and to achieve that goal, she has to keep Flash safe - not an easy task. The story is exciting, grabs your attention from the start and never lets go. There's also well-defined additional characters and an adorable little dog to boot. All in all, this is another wonderful entry in the Sapphic Suspense Collection and Another Great Read by Edale Lane! Can't wait for the next installment of the Blaze and Badge Series!

Edale Lane has written an arresting tale of two strong, smart, outstanding women — Lisa “Flash” Cash, a well-liked Houston lesbian firefighter recognized for her valor and exceptionalism, and FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Athena Bouvier, an ice queen who keeps her personal life well separated from her professional responsibilities.

Flash and Athena’s lives intersect when Flash witnesses a murder, making her a valuable asset to Athena and her drug task force.

Flash and Snuffles, her adorable Havenese, are placed into protective custody. But the danger intensifies as the case progresses, eventually involving Athena’s entire team assisted by Houston SWAT and police personnel, and Flash’s firehouse family.

Lane’s story is fast-paced, peppered with surprises, and populated with characters who have close bonds and each others’ backs. This is a duo whose lives I’d like to see be the subject of a series. Well done.

This is the first book I've read by this author, and I've been missing out.
This is the perfect butch meets femme story. Flash is a fiercly loyal, hot as hell firefighter with a soft centre. Athena is a sexy, high heal wearing, no nonsense FBI agent, the only thing missing is a naughty, hot & sweaty scene but it's a great read nonetheless.
