I'm still dumbfounded as to how this is a debut novel! It reads like a well seasoned vet author! There's not of the telly crap and poor pacing I often find with new writers. Jackie Walker's writing is fresh, relatable, and so dang funny! I laughed out loud so many times!
She also manages to write a kid that I don't hate! I usually dislike kids in romances because they're either too perfect and annoying, or they're super problematic and annoying. Mile's is neurodivergant and delightful!
This book starts out with how the couple met. Parent Teacher meet and greet night. Some sparks fly, but as long as her kids in his class, nothing's gonna happen. Jump ahead a few years, and her son still has his former teacher in his life but not as much. Cara and Brody keep a friendship going, but it's mostly through GIFs (which no one writes a gif war like Jackie Walker!).
Finally, Cara's best gal pal twists her arm into trying that "Kiss Your Best Friend" TikTok challenge on Brody. What does she have to lose? Fireworks don't explode, an entire TNT factory does!
This book is the perfect beach read for the summer, or a cozy friend in the winter! You will laugh, you will cackle, you will awww! These two are so precious, you might get a cavity. But it's soooo worth it!

Where are all my steamy romcom book friends?
These Love and Laughs books are for us, & this first in the series (Love and Other Chaos) is even better than I expected after falling for the covers and book blurbs. Fans of Tessa Bailey, Helena Hunting, Lauren Layne, Jill Shalvis, Cora Carmack, Alice Clayton—you will adore Jackie Walker. 🔥🤩🔥🥰🔥😍 @authorjackiewalker I just knew I’d be your super fan.
I especially like the flirting and banter, the sweetness of the main characters (Cara & Brody) and friends and family along with all the humor, reality & quirks, and the need/desire for them to get together—like finding yourself peeking ahead to see how long you have to stand it. 🥵😋🤪
I really wanted to be eating “no-bake cookies” (we call them dog puddles in our family 😂) while reading this book because Linda, Brody’s mom, just got to me! I cried when I met her. This book has everything you need! You’ll probably want a margarita to go with it!

My hubby took me for our 20th wedding anniversary, and we highly recommend it if you like floating in calmer ocean waters, listening to live music with your toes in the sand, eating all the local grouper & drinking all the yummy margaritas! Such amazing memories.
