Christmas Captive (Christmas Romantic Suspense Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 113 ratings

The greatest loss a couple can suffer tore them apart.

FBI Agent Chloe Luckman is shocked and dismayed when she finds out that her ex-boyfriend has gotten himself mixed up in a case she's been working. Surprised to find she's jealous to see another woman in the arms of her ex, she wonders whether it’s possible to reclaim what they once shared.

Dr. Fin Patrick is no more pleased to be forced to spend time around Chloe than she is to spend time around him. She broke his heart when she walked away from him, and now he's so angry with her that any hope of reconciliation is nonexistent.

But feelings are still there whether either of them like it or not, and as danger lurks it might be too late for them to do anything about it.

If you loved USA today bestselling author Jane Blythe's inclusions in Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward's Cocky Hero Club and K Bromberg's Everyday Heroes World, you'll be thrilled with CHRISTMAS CAPTIVE, the second book in the Christmas Romantic Suspense series.

Crime never takes a break, not even for the holidays and it is during the Christmastime season that Chloe and her partner find themselves getting a break in a case that has eluded the authorities for over a decade. In Christmas Captive, when Chloe’s ex-boyfriend, Fin, found a woman who appeared to be drunk, stumbling around the road, he never expected that it would be a woman who was fleeing from her captor. This story was so chilling! The perpetrator of the crimes was a deranged lunatic whose obsession has led to a spot-on moniker that was unforgettable. Such an apt description of this criminal and so very terrifying!

Once Fin had convinced the woman he meant her no harm and was going to get her to safety he thought that his involvement would end there and that is exactly what he wanted. Fin wished to be left alone because he was still hollowed out from a tragedy that had destroyed his world. Unfortunately for him, the woman had developed a dependency on her “white knight” and in order to help the authorities with the case Fin had to stick around. I can’t say that I was a fan of the victim but I think that her situation was realistically portrayed as she had been held captive for over a year and would hold tightly to anyone that made her feel safe.

Chloe had mixed feelings about being around Fin again. There were many things left unsaid between them and seeing him stirred feelings that she thought were long extinguished. I loved that the relationship between Fin and Chloe was complex, even though Fin’s behavior was not appreciated by me. They had suffered an unspeakable tragedy and it would only make sense that there would be much anger that was directed both outwardly as well as inward. There was a lot to process with these characters and it added to the suspense because there was no clear outcome for them.

What an amazing story, as it was a suspenseful and terrifying read, yet had its moments of cheer. I loved how there were little instances of Christmastime levity throughout the book. It was a very cute way to keep the story flowing without getting too lost in the depravity that could have overwhelmed a holiday story. It was nicely done! Overall, this was a story that had all the right elements for a suspenseful romance and I would highly recommend Christmas Captive to readers who are looking for a holiday story that has a bit of pep in its step!

Exciting book searching for a vicious serial killer who wants to break every bone in a young woman’s body to see if they live . A young girl Taylor Sallow was kidnapped for 19 months but escaped to find a house or person in a car to help her. She finds Dr. Fin Patrick. He takes her to the hospital. The story weaves around Fin and ex wife Chloe and the anger and grief they have over their baby boy ‘s death while Chloe is pregnant. Must read book as Chloe is captured and time for Finding her and Taylor are running low before the Christmas Holidays. Will Fin and FBI find them in time?

Wow! This story is basically a second chance at love story. This story is about Chloe and Fin. As usual, the story started out sadly and just gets more intense. The breaker was someone unexpected but yet kind of expected. Glad he was taken care of. So happy for Chloe and Fin getting back together again. FANTASTIC job Jane! I would recommend this book.

FBI Agent Chloe has been through a tragic loss and walked away from her boyfriend because she was riddled with guilt. She is trying desperately to get by day to day but she isn’t dealing with her guilt or grief. When her ex, Fin, is drawn into a case of a kidnapped woman, they are forced to spend time together. Chloe wants desperately to have a second chance but Fin, is too hurt and is using his past traumatic experiences to push Chloe away. But when Chloe is put directly in danger, Fin realizes all he stands to lose if he doesn’t forgive.

I really loved a lot about this book. Including the second chance element. Chloe and Fin love each other but can’t seem to fully move forward. I love how after Chloe poured her heart out to Fin and he threw it in her face she decided she was done and needed to work on herself. Chloe is a strong woman but when she finally admitted she needed help it made her character even better. Good read.

After reading Christmas Hostage I dld not honestly think it was possible for this series to get any better but I was so wrong !!! Although I really shouldn’t be surprised as it’s written by the queen of romantic suspense ( Jane Blythe ) get comfortable and hold on tight as Chloe and Finn are going to take you on the ride of your life . You will smile and laugh and you will ball your eyes out as well , it really is like being on a rollercoaster. Dark , raw , gritty , steamy , twists and turns, second chances , tragedy, angst , humor , heartbreaking, heartfelt, page tuner, wonderfully written characters that are so unique , likable, relatable and multi layered . The truth is that there are no perfect words to express what a phenomenal job Jane has done writing this romantic journey, it’s one you really need to experience for yourself

Yet another thrilling story in this series. Think I enjoyed this book better than book 1. Though both are really good.

This story really pulled at the heartstrings, but was still packed with action. Twists and turns, that had me holding my kindle in death grip. Flipping pages needing to know what was happening.

So pleased I was recommended this series
