Me and My Christmas Familiar: An MM Cosy Fantasy Romance (An MM Monster Christmas) Kindle Edition
When Lachlan, a shy hearth witch, adopts a stray cat from the streets, the cat becomes his cherished companion and familiar. Lachlan couldn’t be happier—until one snowy night when everything changes.
Kit loves his witch. After all, Lachlan saved him, keeps him fed and warm, and gives him the best pats. The thing is Kit isn’t just a cat. He’s a shifter who’s just forgotten how to shift. But then one night, desperate to express his feelings to Lachlan, Kit returns to his human form. Unfortunately, Lachlan doesn’t react how Kit expects. Now Lachlan avoids Kit. He won’t pat, cuddle, or tell Kit he loves him. Kit should have just stayed a cat! Everything was wonderful then.
How can Kit show Lachlan he is the same, regardless of his form? Can he win back Lachlan’s affection? Or will Kit be a familiar without his witch this Christmas?
Me and My Christmas Familiar is a cosy fantasy romance with plenty of spice. It features a shifter who has been stuck in cat form for years, hurt/comfort, first times, cosy Christmas vibes, and a guaranteed HEA. This is considered a side story to the An MM Monster Christmas series as it features a cat shifter as a main character, which is not a monster.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2024I enjoyed this book as it tells the story of Lachlan who is lonely even when surrounded by family (lots of siblings) and Kit who has been a kitten without anyone for a long time. Reading how they came together and resolved their minor issues made for a great story. I look forward to reading more in this series regarding the other single siblings.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily giving my honest opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Romance
Lachlan adopts a battered stray cat who becomes his familiar. When the cat proves to be a shifter things get a bit dicey. He loved his cat but was the cat turning human pushing it too far. This is a sweet romance that encompasses the concept who or what do you truly love; just the parts that appeal to you or the complete package, warts and all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique storyline
Wonderful story of Lachlan, a hearth witch who works in his family's bakery and Kit, a stray cat Lachlan takes in. Kit is not just a cat though, but a shifter who has forgotten how to shift. Loved these characters and how they were together. The unique storyline will keep you reading and the love between these two will war your heart.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kit and his kitchen witch
Holiday Cheer Meter: 1/5
(Where 1 is as Christmassy as 'Die Hard' and 5 is more like 'Elf')
Book 2(ish) of 5 of MM Monster Christmas
3rd person, past tense, dual POV
Lachlan, hearth & kitchen witch
Kit, cat shifter
I read this immediately on the heels of A Werewolf Mate for Christmas because I was having such a wonderful time in this world. The stories of this series take place concurrently, so, as they overlap, there are slight spoilers for the other books but nothing more than what you would get in simply reading the series book blurbs.
I adore hidden identity so the fact that unbeknownst to Lachlan, his new cat familiar, Kit, is actually a shifter drew me in like catnip. Turns out Kit has been a cat for so long that he barely remembers his human side! The reveal was purrfection! However, Kit's desperation to just be a cat again so Lachlan would love him was heart-breaking. This is definitely a medium angst read, though it doesn't drag too long, thankfully.
Lachlan's evolution felt necessary and in reflecting on and coming to terms with his feelings they felt bigger, more read and the character better settled. Kit's feelings, by contrast, never wavered, which makes sense in one respect, that lack of evolution from being a rescued cat to falling in love with another being, was definitely felt.
While I loved the more simplistic animal thoughts when Kit was in his cat form; rubbing against Lachlan to mark 'his witch', etc., in human form it hit different. I get that the author probably gave Kit a less complex human range to reflect his stunted humanity as a result of the length of time he spent as a cat, but his single-minded feelings felt a lot like desperate hero worship instead of love. I wish it had been explored a little more fully as it was the only thing that impacted my enjoyment of the story.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the stories in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars A lovely read!
I really liked the premise of this story, with a shifter being stuck in animal form. Kit's backstory tore at my heartstrings. I'm so glad he and Lachlan found each other because they are adorable together!
