Christmas at Clementine Cottage: A heartwarming and festive romance with extra Christmas sparkle (Clementine Cove) Paperback – November 25, 2021
Purchase options and add-ons
Elodie Abbott loves Christmas, so she’s not exactly thrilled when best friend, Iris asks her to go to a village Elodie’s never heard of just as the festive season kicks off, to help Iris sort out her recently deceased, Uncle Stanley’s cottage.
At least there’s an upside. Clementine Cottage is grander than it sounds; the village is idyllic and Archer Rhodes, the owner of the village pub, The Bow and Quiver, is seriously hot. But it doesn’t take a genius to work out Uncle Stanley wasn’t popular.
When Elodie and Iris discover Stanley’s been keeping more than a close eye on all the villagers, they soon start to understand why. Everyone in Clementine Cove appears to have a secret – including Archer Rhodes. And Stanley knew them all.
Elodie and Iris begin to unwrap the village mysteries, but now Elodie’s hiding something of her own. She’s falling for the gorgeous but equally stand-offish Archer, and that could be a problem. Especially if Archer’s secret is as bad as she and Iris believe.
But as the temperature plummets, and the village is blanketed in snow, things soon warm up in Archer’s pub. And with the Christmas festivities in full swing, will Elodie and Iris uncover more than they expect beneath the twinkling lights and Christmas sparkle in Clementine Cove?
This is book 1 in my new, Clementine Cove series, but each book can easily be read as a standalone.

About the author

Emily writes novels, novellas and short stories about friendship, family, the things life throws at us, and falling in love. She loves a happy ending but knows that life doesn't always go to plan. Her stories are sure to bring a smile to your face and a warmth to your heart. She is a full member of the Society of Authors and since her first book was published in 2012, several of her books have been best sellers.
Emily lives in East Sussex, UK, minutes from the sea in a town called Hastings - famous for the Battle of 1066. The stunning surrounding countryside and quaint English villages often appear in her books. Emily lives with her rescue cat, Portia, and when she's not writing, she loves to read, cook, drink (too much) wine with her friends, and potter in the garden of the house she's recently bought. She also loves skiing, adores frolicking in the snow, and is a self-confessed lover of Christmas - which can't start too early, in her opinion.
Emily loves to connect with her readers and has a readers' group in which many have become good friends. To catch up with Emily, or find out about the group, visit https://www.emilyharvale.com or connect with her on social media: https://www.facebook.com/emilyharvalewriter

- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2021As usual, Emily's characters are fun & well written. I like the way we were in suspense, until the end, about Uncle Stanley. She always has a positive spin on everything. Love will find you, when you're not looking.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2021Weak plot line. Stereotype characters. Hardly mention of Christmas for it being a Christmas book. Do not waste your money or time on this novel. I am not even sure where to begin with my critique of this book. Elodie and Iris were main characters that I just did not care for. They stumble across Stanley Talbots' files but then never open them nor do we ever find out what is in most of them. Meeting Hermonie at the end is twist that no bread crumb was laid down by the author so it was not a complete surprise. What exactly did Stanley do for a living? Some flashback scenes with Stanley and Hermonie would have helped create a richer story but sadly there is none. There is hardly any mention of Christmas considering it is like 2 weeks leading up the holiday. What girls are not worried about Christmas? Or even go out Christmas shopping mark sure everyone has a gift? They are not worried about wrapping. Food. Or anything related to Christmas. There is no Christmas music playing anywhere. I also did not buy Archer and Elodie falling in love at first sight considering he keeps running away from her in a huff. How can that be love? Romeo was constantly scaling Capulet's walls no matter the danger from her kinsmen. His love/infatuation I believe. Theirs, I did not. This book was written just to grab your money at Christmas. Skip it. I would recommend Milly Johnson's I wish it Could be Christmas Every Day. That Christmas book made me cry. Multiple times. I need a Charlie and Robin in my life.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2021I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story is a little different which makes it enjoyable. I can recommend this book to anyone looking for a gentle.Christmas read.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2022This starts off slow, but builds steadily worth increasing speed. Emily is an amazing writer. I can't wait to read more. Merry Christmas to all who read read this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2021Where to begin with this one? I struggled to connect with either of the two main characters from the beginning, their rudeness to the other villagers, the story that never went anywhere - totally unengaging and unbelievable, no build up to the actual romantic relationships, no answers as to what the uncle had done to alienate himself from the community, nor how what was discovered about Asher reconciled in the end... for a story that had trouble getting going, the ending was way too rushed - like there wasn't any copy editing done on this book and was rushed to print. I normally enjoy Emily Harvale's books - they are like a hallmark movie in the midst of craziness - and it was because of her past books that I kept on reading this one... but was sadly disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Such an excellent story!
Christmas at Clementine Cottage was an uplifting and enjoyable story, but unlike some tales it had a really well thought out mysterious backing.
I'm not going to tell you about it, but there are secrets to be discovered and reasons for the happenings in this sometimes funny, sometimes curious story of hope and new beginnings.
You'll want to read this book if you love Christmas, if you love a bit of mystery and if you love love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful pre Christmas read
I loved this book, I saved it for nearer Christmas so I could enjoy the setting more and I was not disappointed.
I enjoyed seeing how the story unfolded and what the secret was.
The characters were likeable and the village setting of Clementine Cove very romantic.
I thoroughly recommend this book, settle down with the lights low and a glass of something beside you and enjoy.
Another lovely, warm and festive read by Emily.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unputdownable Read
Emily’s books never disappoint.
I loved reading this book and finished it before
1 am. The setting is Clementine Cove which is so picturesque and reading about the place makes you feel like you’re actually there, spending Christmas amongst the residents.
Iris and Elodie, who’ve been friends since they were kids. visit the cottage of Iris’s Uncle Stanley whose passed away, and lived in Clementine Cottage.
Almost straightaway you read about those not so nice characters in the village, the sister of the vicar being one of them. It seems the villagers didn’t think highly of Stanley as not many attend his funeral, both of them find out at the funeral, that he wasn’t as bad as people or Iris and Elodie thought. There’s secrets awaiting to be revealed……….
