4.4 out of 5 stars 90 ratings

💫 WINNER OF THE BOOK BLOGGERS' NOVEL OF THE YEAR AWARD 2024 💫

One murder mystery weekend. Two rival sleuths.

They’re looking for answers. But will they find love?

Kate Brannon is delighted to be attending her first murder mystery weekend in a movie-worthy Victorian manor house. Still getting over being dumped, cracking the case would be a welcome boost to her flagging confidence. And the prize money wouldn’t hurt either.

But Kate’s dreams of victory become a nightmare with the arrival of Max Ravenscroft. Smart, enigmatic and annoyingly handsome, Max is Kate’s sleuthing nemesis.

When she and Max are forced to work together, Kate despairs. But, as the investigation brings them closer, she finds being his partner in solving crime isn’t all bad.

With growing suspicions that the game is rigged against them, can Kate and Max beat the odds to find the killer? And, as their partnership deepens, can they find romance too?

A sweet romantic comedy with a cosy mystery at its heart. Perfect for fans of Kathryn Freeman, Laura Jane Williams and Katie Fforde.

Good story. A murder mystery weekend leads to romance between two rival sleuths.

This review reflects my own personal thoughts about this book and hasn't been influenced or bought by anyone else, nor should it be taken to influence anyone else to agree with it.

I got involved with the characters. I kept rooting for Kate to get a clue about men and not be second guessing herself. But the actors in the story were very believable as real people and not as actors. Different and interesting story!

It’s always a pleasure to read a contemporary romance by Claire Huston, and I think Clues to You is my favorite one yet! It has an entertaining murder mystery weekend, dynamic characters, and a sweet and charming romance!

Max is Kate’s sleuthing nemesis, and she is so excited to attend a murder mystery weekend without him as he always spoils her time. Imagine her dismay when she realizes not only is Max participating in the weekend murder mystery, but he’s also on her team. Oh my gosh, this pair has the best banter, and the way they transition from enemies to partners to something more is fantastic.

The backdrop of the story is also great – a 1930s murder mystery in an old Victorian manor complete with dynamic and exaggerated character actors that are so entertaining. I would so love to spend a weekend with friends trying to solve a murder mystery like this! Plus, the mystery is intriguing, and the way Kate and Max go about solving it highlights their individual skills and how well they work together. They make a great team! I also like that as they work on their investigation, they also uncover some misunderstandings between them.

I loved Clues to You! It is such a fun and entertaining romance, and though it is part of the Love in the Comptons series, it, like the other books in the series, can be read as a standalone. Special thanks to Claire Huston for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

I voluntarily read an arc of this book.

This was an awesome book! I just wanted more and didn't want the book to be over!

Author did a great job keeping you hooked and even had a surprise ending!!

So Kate and Max are friendly rivals, both love murder mystery parties and up until now, they've always competed against each other. This time they're on the same team and so spending more time together, which drives Kate nuts because even though they're on the same team, they're still competing. She feels like he reads her mind, and so beats her to saying what she's about to say, making him ahead of the game and her looking less clever. I kinda feel for her, although it's funny.
The book overall was ok, I liked the idea, the story, just had a hard time getting engrossed in the author's writing. It just didn't grip me. I do love the characters, Max and Kate, although I didn't really care for Kate's best friend, Bella, or Bella's fiance. As for the location; I LOVE it! I've loved the idea of going to a murder mystery party for a while, but boy, doing one in a castle would be so fun! It would feel like stepping into a game of Clue, which is my favorite boardgame. And that the party takes place in the 30's, again, how fun. I would totally be dressing the part.
I had an idea who the "killer" was, but was actually surprised. Overall a fun read.

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy. Kate is forced to work with nemesis Max at a murder mystery weekend.

While Clues To You is technically the third book in the Love In The Comptons series, the story itself focuses on a completely new set of main characters. This means that you can easily read this books as a stand-alone without missing out on any background information... Although it's true that you will see a familiar character popping up again if you do read the previous book. The Comptons makes for such a great setting, and all three books have been winners so far. It's true that this particular story mainly focuses on the manor house and its surroundings, but the descriptions are thorough and the Victorian hotel makes for such a great backdrop for the Murder Mystery Weekend.

Rather than another romance, Clues To You is mainly a cozy mystery where the main character has to solve the murder mystery game as well as unearth other secrets along the way. I confess that I don't read cozy mysteries often enough, and I'm not sure why because I tend to always enjoy them when I do... The fact that Clues To You has many references to the work of Agatha Christie is only a bonus, and I was happy to recognize some of the mentions along the way. I really enjoyed the way the different clues were incorporated into the plot, and the Christie vibe took the story to the next level for me.

Like the series title suggests though, there is also romance to be found in Clues To You. I can never seem to resist a good enemies-to-lovers trope as well as a slowburn romance, and this story offers us both. Both tropes were well executed and I have to say that I really enjoy watching their connection grow over time. BUT. And here comes the only reason I didn't rate this story even higher: the plot also includes a particularly frustrating love triangle, and it kind of put a damper on things for me. Especially with the way Kate behaves after the trope is introduced... I know this is a personal pet peeve, but I think the plot would have been perfect without that particular character spoiling the show.

Anyhow, there is something about the way Claire Huston writes her story that makes them extremely readable, and I literally flew through this story. The cozy mystery element added a dose of suspense to the plot, and the murder mystery weekend was without doubt my favorite part of this sequel. Apart from that pesky love triangle, the romance itself was still great though, and I liked how everything was wrapped up in the end. All in all it was without doubt yet another successful trip to the Comptons! I can recommend all three books of this series if you like your stories well written with likeable characters and the romance on the sweet side.

I loved this book! The characters are relatable and I was rooting for
Kate to win the big prize. The romance is a sweet rivals to lovers story
and, together with the murder mystery, made it hard for me to put the
book down. The mystery, with the actors playing 1930s characters, will
be fun for anyone who enjoys Agatha Christie stories and kept me
guessing until the big reveal at the end. A must for romcom readers who
    also enjoy a cosy mystery.

A 1930s Murder Mystery event is the setting for this cosy mystery romantic comedy. Forced to work with her nemesis, Max, to solve the murder and discover if the competition is genuine, Kate finds that he is not the man she thought. This original, well-written story has humour, friendship, mystery, and romance. I like the murder mystery event setting, the gentle romance and the humorous dialogue.

Who's up for a book that begins with a murder mystery weekend at a lavish manor house with a big cash prize? I certainly was. This was a really fun mix of sleuthing and romance. Kate and Max were really well described, as was their developing romance, and I could picture all the other characters too. Enjoyed the twists and surprises.
