Come Closer to Me: A Rockstar Brother's Best Friend MM Romance (Rock U Book 2) Kindle Edition
I've always crushed on my brother's straight best friend. But when I start tutoring him, an undeniable spark ignites between us. Can I win his heart?
Axel Sandstrom
I’m the lead guitar player in a punk-pop band and I get hit on a lot. But I’ve got a big problem—a crush on my older brother’s best friend, Remy.
Of course, he’s straight.
So instead of having him, I’ve become the king of hookups. I’m used to hiding my feelings behind teasing and innuendo. But that only drives him further away from me.
When Remy decides to go back to school, my brother asks me to tutor him. After spending time alone with him, it’s pretty obvious he’s not as straight as he says he is.
Remy Hall
Axel makes me feel things. Tingly things.
But he’s also obnoxious and my best friend’s younger brother.
I should stay away, except that I need him to tutor me. During our tutoring sessions it’s impossible for me to deny my attraction to him.
But the bigger issue, is my all-consuming fear of being close to people.
After the deaths of my younger brother and my dad, I don't want to get close to anyone. But Axel makes me want to try.
He might have the conviction to yank me back to him, kicking and screaming, as I’m about to fall off the edge.
Come Closer to Me is the second book in the Rock U series and is part of the Mesa Boys universe. This novel features bisexual awakening, hurt/comfort, and a rocker in love with his brother’s best friend. It guarantees an HEA and has no cliffhangers. It features a bad boy who goes after what he wants, and a man who’s hiding his attraction to men and shies away from love. Each book features a different couple and can be read as a standalone or as part of the series in order.

About the author

Christie Gordon is the author of steamy, heartfelt gay romance novels that explore the emotional journey of men discovering themselves and finding love. It all started when she stumbled upon MM fanfiction by accident—and let's just say, it was love at first read. Inspired by the genre's mix of passion and complexity, Christie transitioned from reading about men in love to writing her own stories. After taking fiction writing classes at a local community college, she published her first MM romance novel in 2009 with a small press, and she’s never looked back.
When she’s not writing, Christie watches boys-love dramas, creates digital art, or is serenaded by her snoring one-eyed rescue pug. A graduate of both Electrical Engineering (BS) and Business Administration (MBA), she spends her "day job" navigating the high-tech world, but her heart belongs to the characters who live in her books. Christie currently resides in the Phoenix metro area, though she’s also lived in California’s Bay Area and Minnesota (which probably explains her deep love of pumpkin spiced latte coffees and hockey).
She’s also the proud mother of two young-adult sons who provide plenty of material for stories—usually in the form of chaotic shenanigans. But no matter what, Christie’s always up for a new adventure, whether it's on the page or in the real world.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2023Really enjoyed this romance story which was well written and edited. Overuse and misuse of 'snicker' and 'snigger', both of which are generally negative, unkind, scornful types of laughter, but the author seems to just use them casually all the time. And everyone always "lifted the phone to his face" when there are other ways to write it. And there's an alt-right liberal-hating maniac shooting up a store. Because of course.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2023After reading the first book I was so looking forward to axels story with Remy and seeing how he would manage this. Axel is an amazing character and the ending twist was just mmmm.. I want to have a story about Silas ...

- Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2024Axel is the guitarist in Knot You. He has always had a crush on his brothers best friend, Remy. Axel has always flirted with Remy. However, that has made Remy uncomfortable. Alex offers to tutor Remy. Axel just thinks if nothing else, they can be friends.
Until Remy realizes he is developing feelings for Axel and not just the friendly kind.
I listened to the audio book narrated by Finnely Cole. I enjoyed listening. He makes the story come alive.
When I first started this series, i was reading / listening out of order. As these can be read as standalones, the whole series is amazing. I have enjoyed each characters story thus far.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2023Axel has crushed on his older brother’s best friend, Remy, for as long as he could remember. Even to the point of hooking up with guys who looked like Remy. But Remy being straight and Leo’s best friend, it was never going to happen. Not that Axel lacked for attention. After all, he was the striking, black haired, rock retro-wearing, lead guitar player for what was becoming a very popular band and men and women threw themselves at him whenever they played. But his heart belonged to Remy.
Remington Hall seemingly has adulting figured out. Steady job, getting his degree, sharing a house with his best friend, Leo, but Remy has deep-seated trauma from his childhood that keeps him from connecting deeply with anyone. Yes, he and Leo are close as brothers and he loves his mother and sister, but that’s it. He’d never had a successful personal relationship with any of the women he’d dated. In fact, he was afraid he might be incapable of that kind of love.
When Leo suggests his younger brother, Axel, tutor Remy in an accelerated college course Remy was taking, Remy was reluctant. Axel made him nervous, always teasing him, usually with some sexual double entendres. What was that about anyway? Axel was gay, but everyone knew Remy was straight.
Axel is also smart. Tutoring Remy may be his only chance to finally let Remy know his feelings and Axel is going to take his shot. The bigger surprise belongs to Remy. Most everyone already knows of Axel’s crush on him, but Remy is totally surprised that he doesn’t altogether hate the idea of exploring something with Axel.
Is Remy bi-sexual? How will Leo handle his best friend dating his little brother? But the harder question is, can Remy move past the trauma of his childhood losses and trust himself to love someone else even if he might lose them?
Terrific book! Terrific series! Sexy, intense, realistic, fantastic characters and sensitive treatment of trauma and PTSD.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2023I mean this book was okay, I felt like something is missing from this book. Or maybe everything is dragging out too long, I can't put my finger on it, but it was too something, and not enough everything, if that makes sense. So this book was just okay for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2025Creat story and really real struggles the charaters hab to face
- Reviewed in the United States on April 29, 2023Axel has loved Remy, his brother Leo’s best friend, for years, expressing it and keeping Remy aware of him through constant teasing. Remy is straight, has never picked up on the reason for the teasing, just feeling constant annoyance each time Axel does it. When Remy has difficulty with a class he is taking, Leo suggests letting Axel tutor him since he has had the same class previously. Frustrated, Remy gives in to the tutoring, discovering that Axel is different in this situation, and is really helping him. He also is discovering an unexpected attraction to Axel, one which he questions and tries to clarify in his own mind. Due to past trauma from the death of his father and brother, Remy is fearful of getting close to someone then losing them, so he has never been in a relationship. Axel has never had a relationship, either, since he has loved Remy since he was in high school. As the two try to navigate growing feelings for each other while facing their reservations and fears, there is that promise of a future together, helping them through an unexpected challenge.
The character development of Remy and Axel continue throughout the book as we learn more about each one as the story progresses. Both characters are complex and seem very realistic in their feelings and reactions. The situation also seems true to life, with questioning of sexuality as unexpected attractions occur in the book. Supporting characters also play a large part in the story, setting up for further books about those complex characters, also. This was an enjoyable read, keeping me interested in finding out what comes next and how Remy would face his fear of possible loss in order to embrace his love for Axel. Read and reviewed as part of an ARC for the author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Letting Love In.
MM, Brothers Best Friend, Bisexual Awakening, Hurt/Comfort, Rock Musician, Contemporary, Romance. The second book in the Rock U series and is a part of the Mesa Boys universe. The story can be read as a stand-alone or in series order as each book features different Main characters. A great read with a fast moving plot with steam, emotional/distressing times, action and drama throughout, there is alot of wit and humour throughout their story but there is also an event that happens that was violent and especially emotional. Guaranteed HEA

Oh my, Axel and Remi are just gorgeous together.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this series from Christie Gordon and am happily binging the rest of it as soon as possible.
Watching the band grow and become more popular as the band members find love is addictive.
Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hurt/comfort love story.
This book is a rollercoaster of emotions and tackles some serious issues that maybe a trigger for some. It's about how love can heal you, with the help of the one you love. Remy has lived through so much loss, and, as a result, finds it difficult to fall in love. Falling in love, will mean experiencing ever more loss, won't it? Axel adores Remy, and has done for a long time, he's determined to make him live his life again! A heartfelt, emotional tale, where two guys come together and fall in love. I was unsure why Remy was so reluctant to tell anyone about his sexuality, but all came good in the end. A little on the wordy side at times, I felt it was too drawn out in parts. Still, a decent story, worth a read. Loved the ending.3.75 stars.
The audio version of this really brings the story alive. The narrator successfully captures the essence of the guys, Remy's sadness and Alex's caring nature. Recommended listening to in order
