Contempt (Sin City Salvation Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 809 ratings

Before the world knew me as a rock god, I was just the angry boy who stole her heart.
She was a good girl.
The forbidden fruit I wasn’t meant to taste.
Our stars were crossed, and fate had doomed us from the start.
She was promised to someone else.
I had her secret smiles.
Moments stolen in dark corners.
But I couldn’t have her future.
Destiny tore us apart, and all that remained was the ghost of her memory.
When she died, I did too.
But when I catch a glimpse of her five years later, alive and well, that love turns to hate as the bitter truth emerges.
She left me.
She lied.
And now, I’m going to make her pay.

worth every minute of the wait!
I have spent years, YEARS, waiting for this book. I was enraptured in this world the second I read Confess. And then when I read Convict, I was totally obsessed. Kodiak is memorable enough as a secondary character, but in his own book? Mama. Stick a fork in me. I'm done. This book had a considerably darker undercurrent to it in comparison to the previous two. And I devoured it in one sitting. It's this addictive combination of second chance romance, amnesia, enemies to l0vers, and a FMC thought d3ad. And yes, it's as good as it sounds. Years ago, Kodiak fell in love with the wrong girl. Theirs was a tumultuous and forbidden romance that ended in the worst sort of tragedy and cost Kodiak everything. All these years later, he is still a prime suspect in her alleged murd3r. Until one day, he sees a homeless woman busking on the street and he can't believe his ears. Because even if the woman looks nothing like the girl he loved beyond reason, that voice is one he knows. So what's a man to do? Why kidnap her until she confesses her 3vil scheme of course. But the woman he never stopped thinking about doesn't remember him, or her life before 5 years ago. The story is told in flashbacks from present to past. The author gives you morsel by morsel pieces to build a picture that when fully revealed, will rock you to the core. It's full of angst, emotion, pain and heartbreak. The girl Kodiak knew as Bianca is now Lyric and he refuses to believe that she remembers nothing. But beneath the loathing and contempt, the chemistry between them is as strong as it was 5 years ago. No matter how much they both may fight it. I thought I loved the first two books, but this one simply blew me away. The mystery of it, the slow building suspense, the heartache and angst. I couldn't get enough of these two. Learning about what Bianca has gone through broke my heart. And I spent chapters waiting for the other shoe to drop and for Kodiak to get his blinders off. Let me tell you, when he finds out the truth, he's ready to burn the word down. GOD but I loved this book. HARD. It was worth every single painful second, minute, month, and year of the wait that A Zavarelli put us through. I cannot recommend it enough.

Love Madden and his story. Bianca’s story, as well as Lyrics, became so complex. Then the past/present back and forth kept me guessing. I was rooting for them and equally frustrated with them. Birdie and Ace, Gypsy and Lucian! Glad they had a notable presence in this book.

The traumas Madden and Bianca endured were unimaginable in their own rights. Lies and manipulation run so deep and cut even deeper. As things came to light I couldn’t put it down! But then I didn’t want it to end! Put it down! Pick it up! My internal battle reading this traumatic and poignant story.

    Loved it!!

I am not even finished with the book and I just have to review this story. Didn't think you could top confess and convict, your other two books but this blew it out of the water. There are so many lies you don't know if anyone is telling the truth. Madden and Bianca are the pawns in their parents games and it is a wonder that Bianca has survived since she was used so savagely. Amnesia is her bodies way of surviving what she has gone through but it has taken its toll on Madden who has loved her from when he first met her. Who could have known it would take such a dramatic effect on those involved. Cried when madden went to a humane society on his travels to meet up with his ex marine buddies and ended up with a
rescue dog. They end up rescuing each other since he was injured while being in the marines. The dog is on his last legs when he adopts him and when he finally gives up the fight it just brings to mind all of the pets that have passed on in my life and I mourned all over again with madden. Like I said am not finished but almost and I am sure it will blow my mind. Thank you for such a great read. The wait was worth it. You are truly a talented author.

There's something so gritty and raw in Zavarelli's writing and I forget how much I love her writing style in between books.

Madden is real; flaws, scars, and bad habits abound. But he's also caring, responsible, and a man to be reckoned with. I love seeing his growth from the teenage years with flashbacks to now and how he's dealing with the messes in his life.

Bianca is almost hard to like at times and appears weak, since we mainly get to know her through her behaviors in Madden's eyes and her current state. However, is easy to see why she acts the way she does. It's hard to fight to get out.

There's a bit that doesn't jive with Adam and how Madden sees him, especially since they grew up together and the person Adam had as a role model, but it's hard to admit concerns when it's family. I loved Zoe and that we got to see friends from the past and meet new ones. I can't wait for the next book from the author, regardless of what it is!

I’m really having a hard time rating this book. I have read and loved almost every book that this author has written and I absolutely loved the first two books of this series. But while I was reading this … all I felt was anger towards Madden and I really just wanted Bianca as far away from him as possible in both the past and present. She deserved so much better than what he ever gave her.

This book is told half in the past and half in the present alternating every other chapter. I hated the way he treated her in the past chapters, and I hated the way he treated her in the present chapters. When the truth comes out, I felt he needed to be on his knees begging forgiveness for ever doubting her and he never really does. He feels bad—but that was not nearly good enough.

One of the main things I do not understand is that Madden displayed zero common sense when he found her. Instead of being relieved that the love of his life is alive—he’s enraged because he thinks she hung him out to dry for his brother’s murder. He doesn’t believe she has amnesia. But here’s the thing- when he found her, she was literally starving and living on the streets for the past five years. It’s not like she’s been out living her best life. She was barely recognizable because she was so malnourished. But all he cares about is himself and that he believes he’s been wronged.

Also— when she loses her memory AGAIN towards the end —I was just over it. From that point there was still over 100 pages to go and it just dragged. I did not find the end satisfying at all.

    This is a story I didn’t know I needed!

Contempt is the third in one of my favorite series, and though I love this author and would read her grocery list if I could, I didn’t realize how much I’d end up loving this book. It was amazing being able to watch Madden and Bianca fall in love with each other, and seeing their hatred for each other side by side was remarkable. I love the way Zavarelli wove together past and present, slowly revealing the truth about a twisted past and the horrible events that led to Bianca’s amnesia and Madden’s hate. I spent the entire book trying to figure out what happened and who the real villain was, and was completely shocked when it was finally revealed.

I loved the characters, and loved seeing Birdie, Ace, Gypsy and Lucian again. Now I want to go back and reread the entire series so I can live in this world a while longer.

I loved this book! I’ve never read anything like it before and it was a fantastic end to the trilogy. My only two issues:

    1. There were so many chapters focused on the past, and while they were important, I felt like some of the scenes could have been cut out or combined in a few instances.
    2. The ending was pretty fast, and I wanted a little more! It also has the same trope as the previous two books, and I was hoping for a little deviance from that.

Overall, I highly recommend the book and this trilogy as a whole.

Plot on this one was good. Did find some of the past really boring and it made me want to skip because it wasn’t really about madden and bianca. Can’t believe all the BS she went through with that vile abuser and how his parents just kept quiet about it. Glad madden and Bianca got the ending they did because they more than deserved it. Overall book was good and I would recommend

I had this book on my kindle for a few months now. From reviews I knew I’d have to be prepared. Took me a while to get the courage and I was not disappointed. The list of trigger warnings goes over a mile, but it really is an amazing book. Storyline is perfectly paced giving views from the past and present throughout the whole book. Characters are carefully and thoughtfully constructed. Pain and angst pours from every page. If anyone would deserve a HEA it’s those two. Amazing read

This story was very very intense. The past chapters merging into present was so heartbreaking. To think how anyone could survive the abuse is beyond belief. Madden struggled with ptsd. Drug addiction. Physical abuse. Sexual abuse. The list is long. Bianca omg this girl. What she endured 😢. Read this book. It’s incredible.

    Sin City Salvation #3

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh gosh I’m so torn with how to navigate this review… It is so packed with drama, there’s no putting it together as a whole. 2 soles, 2 entwined paths bathed in horror, 2 forgotten worlds and one man caught up in the whole thing. Contempt is nit an easy story to read, it’s raw, dark and filled with gasping moments. Jumping from past to present in both madden and Bianca’s lives means paying attention, lack of means you’re likely to miss something…

Madden was a boy, never good enough for his step father, or step brother, pushed aside by his is no mother as the troubled child… The boy had so many issues any therapist would cringe. But through all of his fights, bad choices, and horrible treatment one girl was a constant. Bianca!

Fast forward many years, and Madden is a man a world of attitude, payback and the threat of jail time ruling his life. After his brothers death, Madden becomes defendant Number one. The only person who can clear his name, has disappeared! Until day in Vegas he sets eyes in her, sadly she has no clue, no memory and us about to feel the wrath of a very angry and large Madden now.

Madden takes no prisoners, kidnapping and humiliating the girl known as Lyric, but what he doesn’t know and can’t see through his blind hatred that this woman is so broken she has no knowledge of present now and certainly her past. Madden in all of his depraved behaviour is just showing the woman whom stole his heart but without knowing is stealing his life. Leaving him open to the charge or murder of his step brother.

In weeks and months, along with past flashbacks, Madden finds his Bianca, her funding it is a little more difficult, relying on Madden and his “family” open up the parts of her brain that took away a lifetime of memories. As Lyric disappears and Bianca wakes up, everything explodes. If you think you have it solved think again !

I found myself stalling early in in this story, but pushing on to around 80% it gets really real… I couldn’t wait to finish the story then. Trust me it’s all worth it in the end 💥

Literally everything I've read by the author has been delightful and this book was no different! Bianca & Madden's story was so angsty and heartwrenching. I can't reveal much of the plot but this is a second chance/rockstar romance. The plot is one big rollercoaster it kept me on the edge of my seat. It has many chapters but the pacing is fast and the story will keep you engaged. I really enjoyed it! Highly recommended if you're up for an emotional ride with a plot full of pain, thrill and mystery.
