From the Publisher

'Leo, Lucy and the Orange Solution' is about two children who want a single orange.

They try snatching but it doesn't work. They try a compromise, but they are still not satisfied. They have so many stormy feelings they don't know what to do! Until they remember to use the magic tool and relax for a short moment.

Lucy takes some bubble space and comes up with a song...which points her to the key to problem solving: listening. The song can be listened to on the Short Moments for Kids website.

Through listening solutions appear they didn’t consider, where everyone wins the whole part of the orange they want and none of it is wasted!

The story helps children learn key communication and mediation skills: resting the mind and listening! The book also comes with the recipe for Leo's orange-flavored muffins.

About the authors
Celine loves to draw, empower children and tell stories. When she was introduced to the nature of mind by Ziji Rinpoche, she was awestruck at the power of mind, open like the sky, always clear and wise no matter the stormy feelings. She recognized she would have loved to learn about mind as a child. She was inspired to illustrate the teachings to cre- ate children’s books introducing enlightenment to children. Combining her training in Fine Arts (BA), Performing Arts (MA), Dzogchen (Student of Ziji Rinpoche since 2007) and Early Years (Childminder), Celine now teaches Dzogchen for Kids, conducts book readings in schools and festivals and loves to illustrate new books at http://shortmomentsforkids.com
Ziji Rinpoche is a Dzogchen lineage successor of Venerable Wangdor Rimpoche. Ziji Rinpoche offers Dzogchen teachings for all of Asia, Europe, South America, Africa, Australia, and North America, and has formal centers for study and retreat in India, Sweden, and the USA. Wangdor Rimpoche asked Ziji Rinpoche to bring about the furtherance of Dzogchen for a contemporary global culture.
Rinpoche established the Short Moments online community for mutual support in gaining familiarity with the nature of mind.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2022This simple story - about looking for solutions when you want the same thing that a sibling or friend might want - encourages dialogue and taking some quiet personal time, maybe just a few moments, to relax and see clearly - perhaps from the other person’s desires as well as your own. Reading the story with your children can provide a reference point before disagreements over wanting the same thing get out of hand. The story also comes with a song on video and a recipe for the orange muffins in the story. Lovely lesson and illustrations!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2022Cute story with important teachings. This book provides a good model for taking some space when you need it and coming back to the situation ready to listen to each other and solve problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is our favourite book!
We have so loved learning about the orange solution from this book and it is a fun and lighthearted reminder in our family to listen to each other when things get intense! I love how accessible the story is to the children, they deeply feel this pain of not being able to get what you want, feeling jealous and angry and it is such a relief to know there is another way. Beautiful book - thank you!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book with a brilliant lesson!
I loved this book. I'm a professional Mediator and we use this scenario - with the orange - to show that, with a collaborative approach, conflicts can often be resolved with a win-win solution.
In the book children are shown how this might work, with lovely illustrations and a beautiful story.
Just wonderful!

I love all of Celine's books so far, and this again is a sweet and simple, practical story that my kids love. It's become a household phrase... an orange solution! Beautiful drawings that are really evocative of that child like innocence.
