Demonality (1) Paperback – June 14, 2018

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 12 ratings

Aurrynthea Shadow's Fire is not a typical young female demon. Born to a Dragon mother and a demon father, she is trying to resolve both halves of her nature and survive.

In Hell, magical strength determines who rules and Thea is the only fire demon offspring of Shadow Lord. When he names her his heir, all Hell breaks loose.

As the seals over the portals between Hell and Earthside fail, can Thea settle her Dragon and demon natures in time to prevent a war that would destroy both realms?

Demonality blends magic, adventure, love, sex, colourful language, and even a little comedy into a fun and unique fantasy story.

While this book delivers demons, sex, and hellfire, it’s also a lot more than just a stereotypical fantasy book about hell. It goes beyond the fantasy tropes to explore the deeper meaning of someone struggling with their being and trying to come into their own. I found myself connecting with Thea on a whole different level, and I felt for her and her plight in trying o resolve her demon/dragon nature. I found this book beautifully written, and in parts, it was very touching and sweet. I really look forward to the sequel.

A little confession here…I’m not normally a big fan of Fantasy in general, unless it’s some kind of Urban Fantasy, but Demonality, by Nadine Thirkell, caught my interest right away and kept it throughout the entire book, which was a bit over 300 pages. I think you will have fun with it as it does indeed have some of my favorite kind of creatures in it, including Dragons, of course, and Gargoyles. I do like the way the story moved along from deep in the bowels of Hell, to Earthside and through the development of its characters, but I must digress and give you a bit of plot and what not.

Okay, sooo we start our tome in Hell (where some of us reside, anyway), and where our first young heroine (a rare obsidian dragon, Dark Haven) is sent there to mate with big mean ol’ Demon, Shadow Lord, for what I suspected was some nefarious (at least to him) plot which, of course, we all find out much later. Moving ahead, we have the young offspring of the two, Thea, who is a beautiful toughie and a hybrid of the two parents and the future big cheese of Hell. Well, she scampers off to Earthside and meets up with hunky Jon and his band of mixed fantastical characters and thus she finds out what it really IS all about and where we have lots of mages and mini demons and faye and of course even more Dragons. I think what I liked the most about this book was the detail in describing the different kind of Dragons, and their talents, and the other denizens of Hell and Earthside and how they and their portals came to be. The main characters were pretty well drawn up and especially our fearless heroine whom we can watch grow and mature into literally a force of nature. Dragons and Dragonesses (ok, not a real word) alike will like this story, methinks, and if there is a sequel…more Gath!

From Hell to Earthside we follow this tale of discovery. As Thea and Jon discover love, they also discover their powers. As you read you will learn the necessity for those powers in their struggle to save all. This is a great read but not like your normal fantasy but more like a romance that just happens to contain fantasy.

Half breed demons and dragons, lots of magic & sexy fun! The richly-developed history of Hell and demon-sibling rivalry makes it stand out from other demon mythology novels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable book!

From the kick ass cover to the awesome story about dragons, demons and the struggle for power in Hell, I thoroughly enjoyed Demonality by Nadine Thirkell.

The main character Thea is great and I especially loved the banter between her and Jon on Earth, especially when it concerned her confusion at some of our human customs! I found her fear at 'human flying' funny and one of my favourite parts is her and Jon going on a normal human 'date'.

I can't say too much as I don't want to spoil anything but some of the twists late on in the book were very unexpected and really kept me reading to see what would happen. With how the events unfolded it has left me very excited for Book Two!

Also, Gath the gargoyle is a dude and I wanna give him a high five! Plus, I'm slightly in love with Thea, can someone tell her I'm half-demon too?!

Well written and original. Couldn't put this book down. Loved it. The author has that magic touch that has you ensnared from the very beginning of the book and keeps you turning the pages. The characters are well developed and believeable which made the book alive and current. I can't wait for the next one.
