Ruthless (The Calvettis of New York Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 2,287 ratings

I crash-landed in the middle of the wrong blind date.
That scorching hot stranger I shamelessly flirted with is my new boss.

When I agreed to go on a blind date my best friend set up, I had no idea how the night would end.

As soon as I got to the restaurant, I spotted the dark-haired, gorgeous man I thought I was there to have dinner with.

I sat down at his table and proceeded to flirt awkwardly with him.

When his actual date came back to their table from the ladies’ room, I realized my mistake.

The sinfully sexy man I told a condensed version of my dating history to wasn’t Dale, the friend-of-a-friend I was there to meet.

Mortified, I went home and hid in my bed for the rest of the night, swearing off blind dates forever.

Three days later, I came face-to-face with the hot-as-hell stranger from the restaurant again.

This time he introduced himself.

Barrett Adler.

He’s that Mr. Adler. Barrett is my new boss.

He quickly proves he’s the most annoying, arrogant, and ruthless man I’ve ever met.

My employment contract ties me to him for the next year.

Three hundred and sixty-five days from now I’ll be free of him forever.

Or will I?

Ok, this is one of my favorites. Barrett and Isabella were connected in more ways than one. Bella agrees to a blind date but she mistaken Dale for the wrong guy and sits a BarrettS table. She starts talking about blind dates and being one and done. He never gets a chance to stop her. When his date arrives at the table, she realizes her mistake. She find Dale but to embarrass to stay at restaurant any longer. When she arrives at work she also realizes he is her new boss. Not even half of story. Enjoy reading…

Another great story Deborah. I love how we get connections of people in your other books. Let me tell you I did not see coming what Barrett was feeling guilty about. The close connection of Bella & her grandma is beautiful. The whole family is very close. Not something you see often in families today.

If I could give Ruthless more than 5 stars I would!! When Barrett was introduced I didn't think I was going to like him at all....He turned out to be one of my favorites Deborah has written.

Isabella Calvetti is running late for a blind date, as she enters a very crowded restaurant in Manhattan she sees a very handsome man she thinks is her date. She sits down starts a conversation, drinks a cosmopolitan he had ordered but when a beautiful red head shows up pawing all over said date she realizes she made a big mistake! How humiliating!

Barrett Adler moved to New York to take over as CEO at Garnet Industries. He has wanted this position for a while so on his first day when he meets his executive assistant he is floored to find out that it is the beautiful woman who crashed his date!

Calvetti a name you won't forget for awhile. At the start of the book I was hooked. I still don't know if Max's description of Dale was accurate or wishful thinking on the part of our heroine. Either way, it all worked out. There is an underlying story in this happenstance romance. Something happened in both our hero and heroines past we learn later unites them. Dale was a good guy and if Bella hadn't mistaken Barratt as her blind date it probably would have worked out... Who am I kidding no it would not have. Did I skip the part of Bella telling Dale no she wouldn't be visiting him? It doesn't matter. Great epilogue!

As Deborah Bladon is one of my favorite Authors I cant wait read her books and i finish them in one night! Every time! Bella first meets Barrett on what she thinks is a blind date. But she actually crashes Barrett's date with someone else. And then it turns out he's also her new boss! As the story progresses it seems that they have met before-19 years ago. Join these two on a beautiful journey of love and power! The characters from other books included in each new book is also exciting as I love knowing how they are going in their lives. Looking forward-as always - to more books from Deborah Bladon!

I use to read all of Deborah Bladon's books as they came out. I stopped awhile ago and this is the first one I've read in some time. I see they still haven't found a good editor. But for the price, a few grammar errors are ok, as it doesn't distract too much from the storyline. Two exceptions are: one time it calls Bella's best friend Gus, instead of Max. That was a bit confusing. Second, the part where Barrett wants to take Bella to Crispy Biscuit for breakfast, and she's already heard of it. And he thinks of course she has, this city owns her heart. But duh, she scheduled a business meeting for him at that restaurant his first week there. She even recommends food to order.
Overall I didn't like this book as much. The story didn't flow well for me, and was overly predictable. It was also really slow in the first 60%, I thought about quitting several times, it was only my history with this author that kept me reading. The main characters don't have a lot of connection, their relationship happens to fast, no growth.
Lastly, note to the author, there is a whole "done" theme, none and done, one and done, fun and done. So why is the four letter word for finished OVER?

5.0 out of 5 stars Another fantastic read ..... can’t wait for the next 😍

Another beautiful love story from Deborah, I always love the way these books all link in some way to the next ....... Isabella or Bella as she likes to be called Is a very good P.A for a family run company in her personal life though she is very much single at the moment , that could be about to change when her best friend Max set her up with a blind date of sorts ,armed with only a brief description of the date she goes to the restaurant . The restaurant is very busy and and instead of waiting to be taken to her date by the hostess ,when she sees a very handsome man sitting at a table on his own Bella assumes that he’s the date . Sadly though things get very embarrassing for Bella when it turns out that it’s not her date in an attempt to leave things go array when she accidentally collides with a waitress carrying food . The real date comes to her rescue and they leave the restaurant . Too embarrassed to continue with her date they decide to take a rain check . Next day at work she saddened to hear that her boss has had to enter rehab and his position is replaced by an outsider . Enter the ruthless Barrett Adler when she sees him she’s mortified to discover that he’s the extremely hot guy that she mistook as her date from last night . He makes it very plain to her that he’s totally different to her previous boss and ploughs straight into business sacking quite a few people . Although to Bella this seems a very heartless move by her new boss ,what she doesn’t know yet is that Barrett has good reason to get rid of these people as they’ve been stealing from the company for years and he’s doing it with the blessing of the company's owner . After such a messy start It’s not long though before it becomes very evident that both are attracted to one another , try as they might they can’t stop what’s meant to be . There’s a lovely back story with this couple which surprisingly is linked but with lots of ghosts from the past that need to be laid to rest before we get to the fantastic end . 😍😍😍😍

I loved this book, it’s so well written with such detail and emotion.
It’s a great storyline, the sexual tension, the twists and suspense. I love their personalities and their inner monologue.
It’s not just the main characters, it’s also the sisters, cousins, grandparents etc that are written into this book in such a way that you almost feel as though you are part of it - it’s so beautiful.
I didn’t put this book down until the very last word, loved it!

I really enjoyed this novel, and would have given it 5 stars, but the story became a little confusing at times. I kept thinking that I had somehow missed pages because some details would come out of nowhere and other details were forgotten on the next page.
However, despite all of that, it is still a good story.
