Dating Dutch (Bad Boys Need Love Too Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 477 ratings

Asking my best friend’s sister to help turn me into boyfriend material is a no brainer.
What could go wrong?

Notorious for my partying lifestyle, I’m the celebrity everyone wants a piece of.
Producers, directors, women. And I’m more than happy to oblige.
Until it lands me in a sticky situation.

A photo with the wrong woman plastered all over social media has my career hanging in the balance.
I need a fake girlfriend to help me transform my image.
Jeanie Kent is a successful romance novelist and therefore intimately familiar with a subject I know nothing about.
Better, she would never mistake a simple touch, an easy smile, or a whispered word for more than an act.
Since she’s close to deadline and low on inspiration for her next book, I convince her that helping me out of a bind is a win-win situation.
But as touches turn heated and we create our own private language, it’s hard to see her the way I used to.
Turns out it only takes one woman to bring this bad boy bachelor to his knees.
The one woman who could never see me as boyfriend material.

I love the anticipation built by the author in the deliberate way that the characters knew what they were feeling before they ever had sex. The didn't know where it was going for sure, but it never felt casual. And it shouldn't have. Casual isn't possible for these two characters together.

And the word choice was good, the plot had direction, the ending was storybook happy, which is to be expected.

So why not 5 stars? I'm missing the big climactic moment in the plot. And there were some elements that seem like they were ripe to turn into that moment.

    SPOILERS
Her ex is portrayed as still wanting her, to the point that the character she's poured herself into is deciding between two men, he's posed to look like a villian who could be a safety risk, he wants her back and she phrases things like she's agreed to go back to protect Dutch...

And then she has one "off camera" conversation with him he just walks away. It was even mentioned earlier that the security they hired had GPS tracking on their phones. I half expected Rafe to try to kidnap her anyway. Instead he just showed up acting like a jerk for all of two seconds.

I'm not saying he should have been violent or taken her. Frankly, I liked that this book didn't build in some of the tropey past traumas or evil villan plans that others fall back to. But I think it could have maybe been worth looking at the bread crumbs being dropped and resolving those. Maybe even just with that last conversation being on camera. Rafe doesn't have to be a bad guy to be the wrong guy.

He could have had a conversation with her, realized that the love she's talking about with Dutch is something they never had, and dropped her back off with well wishes. Setting him up as a hero in a future story maybe.

The handling of the mystery ex just felt anticlimactic. And without him I'm struggling to think what the climax of the story was.

But it was sweet. It didn't make sex gratuitous, the sex that did happen was hot. And the characters felt believable. Would still recommend this book!

This book didn’t have the usual funny humor that I have come to love from the author. Although there was a few hilarious moments, it seemed more intense. Emotional. I could relate to the character, Jeanie and that made the book so much more enjoyable. My husband and I started out as best friends. Misti Murphy has quickly became a favorite author of mine. I also got my best friend hooked on her books too. Lol.

I truly enjoyed this love story. Even though I have seen the idea before, somehow this author just brings it alive for me. She has my emotions in full swing from the beginning. One page she has me laughing so hard I needed the bathroom, then next thing I know I am crying with my heart in my throat.

It was beautiful watching two friends who obviously have feelings for each other stumbling over their own tongues to fall in love with each other. But will they come to terms with that or turn away from each other?

You will truly fall in love with Dutch and want to be dating him.

I thought this book started out fine but it just read very cliche. I just didn't find their chemistry real and the progression of their relationship to be believable. I just wanted more out of the book.

Dutch needs Jeanie, his best friend's younger sister, to be his girlfriend to save his career. He knows she won't cling to him or fall in love with him so he wants her help. Jeanie is in the midst of her writer's block and thinks being with Dutch will be inspiration enough.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

"Dutch Daniel's is the best. He is roguishly handsome, charming and witty. He's the triple threat." or so everyone believes. But when Dutch is seen with his hands on a girl, the wrong girl, his career is at stake. Can his best friend's sister help? Will her presence in his life change perceptions? Will his attitude about relationships change? Funny, sexy and romantic, this story is one to keep.

Loved this book!! Great story line, Jamie is a romance writer who has lost her inspiration and Dutch is a confirmed Bachelor who's career is in jeopardy over him possibly being in a compromising position with a girl who's father could end his career. I Love how they work together in their fake relationship but are both trying hard not to have romantic/lustful thoughts about each other. Misti Murphy has done it again well done!!

Why Amazon insist on 20 words for a review via kindle, I don't know. Especially when I just want to say that I really enjoyed this book.
