A Marie Claire Book Club Pick!

Even with a step-by-step plan, these fake fiancés might accidentally fall for each other in this hilarious, heartfelt
romantic comedy from the author of The Marriage Game.

Daisy Patel is a software engineer who understands lists and logic better than bosses and boyfriends. With her life all planned out, and no interest in love, the one thing she can't give her family is the marriage they expect. Left with few options, she asks her childhood crush to be her decoy fiancé.

Liam Murphy is a venture capitalist with something to prove. When he learns that his inheritance is contingent on being married, he realizes his best friend's little sister has the perfect solution to his problem. A marriage of convenience will get Daisy's matchmaking relatives off her back and fulfill the terms of his late grandfather's will. If only he hadn’t broken her tender teenage heart nine years ago…

Sparks fly when Daisy and Liam go on a series of dates to legitimize their fake relationship. Too late, they realize that very little is convenient about their arrangement. History and chemistry aren't about to follow the rules of this engagement.

So wholesome!

Liam and Daisy are so cute together! The beginning of the book was a little awkward but they found their groove. I loved this story! Daisy is the most relatable protagonist ever and I love her and she must be protected at all costs

Fun. Well written and edited. I’m normally pretty cheap with the five stars but this book is realistic enough to help me enjoy a culture I am unfamiliar with and fun with well-developed ancillary characters.

Cute. But a few issues.

This one took me a bit to get into. But one I fell, I fell hard. I got so emotionally attached and cried for much of Liam’s story. I really loved him and daisy together.

There were just a few distracting things. Like I love a marriage of convenience story. And while the dating plan is to legitimize their relationship and it was cute, I didn’t understand the concern for legitimacy. If you have to get married to meet the terms of a will, does it matter if the relationship is legit if the marriage is legal? Is fraud really a concern here? Idk. They kept bringing it up. It was annoying.

One more tiny thing. I’m one of the later chapters he drives a motorcycle he supposedly no longer has. But then a few chapters later he’s buying a new one because he decided he needed one that was more comfortable for a second rider. Um....small but noticeable.

Overall, a good story if you can get through some of the drudge of the beginning.
