    As usual Renee has hit a home run with the latest in this series. These mafia brothers are tough until they meet the women that steal their hearts.

    Gio is finally healed from his near death shooting from Junior's story. He is lost and trying to find the meaning of life again. Marissa is still suffering from the shootout that she survived but she keeps reliving that day fearfully everyday. Thanks for acknowledging that they both suffer from PTSD.

    Gio finally goes back and sees Marissa at the cafe and there is a spark that they both feel. The story is filled with their steamy love, nasty bosses, big loving families and so much more. Of course Gio and Marissa are one hot couple.

    Gio survives being shot and has nightmares about Marissa. She saw it happen and tried to warn him, but it's her being shot in his nightmares. He's drawn to her but she's unsure of him. He's the mafia who has controlled her grandparents for years. She needs money and goes to him. When he agrees she becomes his chef to work off the debt.

    As they get to know each other she sees his softer side but fights her attraction. Her grandparents hate him and won't let her be with him. Gio has to figure out how to be her protector.

    This is a sweet story in this series. They're all standalone stories with HEAs but I've enjoyed reading them in order. This one has great characters I loved.

    This book is Gio's story and how he's been doing since he was shot. Nothing like almost dying to make you question your life and what your purpose is. I loved how Gio was able to show his vulnerable side to Marissa. And also what his secret desire was from the age of 6.

    Marissa has to walk a fine line as she becomes more and more attracted to Gio since his grandfather is very much against the Tacones - although he is respectful to them in person. And we get more of a look at the family dynamics at a couple of their dinners.

Her name is Marissa who is actually the granddaughter of the cafe owners she’s a trained chef , although she’s working at the family business , it’s not her only job she also works in a restaurant across town as well just to keep the family business afloat . Her life is about to get complicated when Gio enters her grandparents cafe and it’s clear that he’s interested in her and not just her cooking abilities , so when her niece needs a hip operation that the insurance won’t cover she turns to Gio for a loan . While Gio & Marissa's relationship moves very fast indeed it’s a fact that’s not welcomed by her family when they find out about it . Will there be a happy ending for these two who are so in love with one another or will Marissa’s family put a stop to the romance .

    This far into a series you have feelings for all the members. This Gio's story. Recovered from the shooting he is not back to normal. He goes to see Marissa and feels a connection to her. As he tries to take care of her, it does not always work out. Marissa develops feelings but does not trusy Gio fully. As they grow closer together outside influences break them apart. Both are miserable until Gio's brother steps in to make it right.
