Dealer of Secrets (The Elite Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 459 ratings

If you have a secret you don’t want anyone to know, Zaire Vicario can find it. And if it’s worth something? Well, that’s currency to him. When things get desperate, the shadiest people call him in, and he makes their troubles go away with all the knowledge he’s acquired. He’s confident, powerful, and ready for anything. At least, he thinks he is. All it takes is one evening at The Anonymous and a man cloaked in lies to change Zaire’s whole world.

Carter Merrill enjoys his life healing people. As a traveling nurse, he brings light to a dark and gritty town. Until one phone call changes all he knows and all he is in the blink of an eye. Carter has never used his hands to harm, but when his twin brother is brutally murdered, he makes the decision to uncover who did it and seek revenge. The only problem is, he has no idea how to do that. When a stunning man approaches and offers to help, Carter has no other option but to walk into the lion’s den.

Deep dark lies, unrelenting lust, and dangerous liaisons thrust Zaire and Carter into treacherous territory and unfamiliar circumstances. They find their lives connecting, as well as their bodies, when one secret reveals layers of atrocities neither of them ever expected. Can they survive the savage storm ahead or are they doomed to the same fate as Carter’s brother?

Dealer of Secrets is a part of the multi-author series The Elite. Each book can be read as a standalone and in any order. What links these books together is The Anonymous, a club beneath the gritty city where only the elite are welcome.

Secrets, deceit and back from the dead puppet master. Zaire knows Carter doesn’t belong at the Anonymous and is intrigued. He needs to protect him. Carter needs protection but doesn’t realize it. When his brother is killed, Carter has a need to find out who did it and why. Zaire knows he needs to help. They devise a plan and soon are not able to resist their attraction for each other. Oh, and Audrey…she’s awesome! Great addition to the series, will definitely look for more from this author.

I’ve read this author before. This is a contemporary mm story about Carter a mobile nurse and Zaire a dealer in the bad side of the population. Carter’s mysterious twin brother Gavin is killed and Carter wants revenge. After a night at the secret club The Anonymous Zaire helps him. The two fall in love and plot the downfall of Gavin’s killer.

Wow! I know I have said this is in other reviews for the Elite series books, but I adore this series so much. I have read all of them twice now and this one is totally a tie for my favorite. They all have just right mix of danger, murder, spice and emotion to make a perfect book. The mc’s in this couldn’t have been more different but they come together so beautifully even with all the danger one has placed himself in. Can’t wait for more!

Some bad guys you just know are on the shady side of good. Some good guys realize the bad side exists and can be used for good. The story pulls you along (forget folding laundry, grab a snack instead of cooking) you just want to know what happens next. Thanks for a good read.

A dealer of secrets falls for a guy who is clearly out of his depth. This was a great action filled story! Highly Recommended

I love that Davidson had Carter start off in the Anonymous Club looking like a fish out of water. And because Zaire is a dealer of secrets he knew there was a story there. The 2 together are good but Audrey was great. I mean really where can I get her, or her sister?

I've liked the other books in this series but was not able to finish this one. The author kept putting things in the dialogue that were supposed to explain some backstory, but were clunky and completely unnatural (i.e. MC1 asks sketchy guy "SG" a question. Rather than answering what was asked, SG turns to MC2 and gives all this explanation of what he previously did for MC2 and then moves on to the question MC1 had asked. Who would do that in real life?? You don't need to tell someone that you sold them some pampers diapers yesterday when someone else asks you did you set the fire at the pamper's factory?) Also, Zaire's house had this whole AI thing going, which was fine, but every time he told it to do something it responded "Command granted". I realize this is small potatoes, but that makes no sense. The AI response is an acknowledgment, not a grant. It bothered me every time it happened...which was a lot of times in the quarter of the book I made it through. Maybe the story gets better later on but I wasn't able to keep slogging through. Also, the other MC (who's name I forget), finishes a nursing job, calls his agency and is told he had a random call that he needs to return urgently from a landline. And when he does its his brother who he goes to meet and finds him on deaths door, all shot up. Brother survives long enough to give him a key to his place and then conveniently dies without explaining anything. It was too ridiculous to be believed. The guy just happens to call right after his brother left a message and manages to quickly find a landline and also quickly get to some random address and his brother only has long enough fot a heartfelt conversation? It was too cliche and everything so convenient that I could not keep reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bad + Good = GREAT

I have found that short stories (less than 175 pages) often fail to have enough “meat” in the story. By the end of the story, the reader is disappointed. DEALER OF SECRETS successfully navigates this conundrum!! It is a thoroughly enjoyable read.

The “good” person Carter becomes mixed up with the dark side because of the murder of his twin brother Gavin. Carter changes the trajectory of his life when he goes to The Anonymous club hoping to avenge his brother’s death. It is there that he meets Zaire.

The author weaves a tale using the different “sides” of life - white, black and grey. He focuses on his main characters, Carter and Zaire and takes us on a journey as the 2 MMC learn more and more about Carter’s dead twin brother Gavin. I loved the manner in which the story evolved, the character development and the grand finale.
    Read and enjoy!

Another fantastic story from Davidson King in this Elite Series. Carter entering the lions den at Anonymous and trusting a man names Zaire was a foolhardy but exciting adventure that I couldn’t put down. I was caught up in a beautiful love story but also the Dealer of Secrets life with gangster and mobsters. I found this a thrilling read. ✨✨✨✨✨

Recomendo.
