I am a sucker for a good fantasy story. Especially one with such wonderful world building and well fleshed-out characters. This was a pretty quick read, at around 150 pages, and I devoured it!

Morgan is a great character. I really enjoyed watching her come into her own while learning about herself, her family, and the secrets they keep. I wasn't expecting that ending though, and I am completely invested now! Can't wait for the rest of Morgan's story!!

I'll definitely be reading the rest of the series as it becomes available. Between this and Rotten To The Core, Liz Cain is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.

Oh I absolutely enjoyed this book! A definite must-read packed with plenty to get to know the main character, Morgan. It is unbelievable what all she went through and to know she suffered so much pain; yet, seeing her rise up and accept the consequence of her actions and choices she made was refreshing because she did not just try to blame someone else - he owned it! Morgan is one of my favorites already and this will be a fantastic series telling her story!

This was a short novella that moved along well. A couple things struck me about this story that I could talk about without telling the story. One, things we hide about ourselves to others. Two, what would happen when others find out, how would they react, if they’d be accepting or not, how we’d react to their judgment. And how we react to betrayal, most of all.

First off, I apologize for my play on words. I enjoy using titles to give reviews... anyway...

I didn't know what I was going to walk into when I started this book. I knew there would be a deal involved, but the how or why, I had no ideas. Liz Cain writes this so well I couldn't put it down. The story revolves around Morgan, her past, present, and future. She's in love with Henrick, the most desired man in the village. They meet, and things go well for a while, but every good thing must come to an end. I won't say more because everything that has to be dealt with is a spoiler! Give this novella a read.

Great intro book that had made me walk over and buy the next one.

I couldn't put this book down. Morgan was so captivated by Hendrick. She was manipulated by him and his family. She doesn't know much about her supernatural side. She finds her father sold her for a deal with Aleric, a demon. She is tricked by her husband, and everything goes to pieces. I found this book to be a perfect piece of this series.

What an amazing story. This makes sense of many things on a whole new level. Major background information on the series because it's the prequel but so well written and definitely a full story in it's own right! I can't wait to read more. I'm adding the rest of the series to my TBR list immediately.

Imagine being able to use, and just begin to harness, your full powers as a supernatural being just to have it all ripped away from you. This is exactly what happened to Morgan as a result of a deal made with a demon. But who was ultimately at fault for this deal? Morgan herself? Her Dad? Or the supposed love of her life, her husband?
This story takes us back to the beginning, where it all started; a quick read that gives us a strong backbone for the journey on which we will embark with the upcoming series. Great prequel!

A cute read with believable characters. Despite places in the book where some sentences were a bit clunky, slowing down the read, the story has a good vibe.
We follow Morgan on her quest to find out about her real powers as a siren. At times, I was actually shouting out at her not to do some of the things she was about to do, like marry Henrick and finishing her special friendship with Nathanial.
    A good afternoon read.

What a great quick read. It certainly gives a great backstory to our FMC Morgan and all the twisted things that happened to her before the beginning of book 1. I cannot wait to continue the series to see if she manages to learn more about herself and her powers, and to see where she goes from here, as the novella ended on a bit of a cliff-hanger!

This is only the second book of Liz Cain’s that I have read and it did not disappoint, it was great. Well thought out, well written and a brilliant beginning to why I can only assume will be other books. It’s brilliant and well worth the 5⭐️. Her writing is growing and going from strength to strength. Loved it. And Soren’s woo hoo. Xx I can’t wait to see what the next book brings , well done and a book I would thoroughly recommend.

I made a deal with myself as it were, that when I'd finished my last series this one would be next on my list to read. And damn I'm glad I made that choice! This was a great introduction to a character that I'm already starting to like and I want to know more about immediately.

Meet Morgan, a girl with a secret, she's a siren who has to keep her gifts hidden from everyone who knows her. Taking care of her mother who has been devastated by the loss of her soul mate, Morgan dreams of having a love of her own. So when the most eligible bachelor of the village Henrick starts to court her, she thinks all of her dreams have come true. Unfortunately for her, she doesn't really know who he is, and by the time she comes to figure out just how manipulative he is. It's far to late...

Right from the start I just knew I was gonna love Morgan and yep you guessed it I totally did. Even though she has magic she doesn't like to use it against others, not only because it's dangerous but because as a person that's not who she is. So when Henrick started to manipulate her into using it against others for his own gain I really felt for her. And for the record I didn't like Henrick from the get go, I just knew there was something off about him and there were times he set my teeth on edge. I would of rather seen her with her childhood friend Nathaniel, who was a sweetheart but sadly had no chance to be with her.

And that ending was fabulous. I have to say I was clapping with delight with the way that Morgan dealt with Henrick's betrayal, and although it doesn't help her with the situation she has now found herself in, I feel vindicated on her behalf.

After superbly setting the stage for the first book, I'm eager to know more so I'm rushing to get to it right now. And I have a feeling I'm in for one HELL of a ride. Highly recommend 😁
