Death Curse: The Final Battle (The Realm of False Gods Book 11) Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 950 ratings

The death curse has fallen. The demons and angels have invaded the Earth. They plan to rule over humanity, but which side will win and can the people of Earth do anything to stop them?

Beelzebub and the demons are too powerful to be stopped.

Godfrey and the angels have an ancient weapon that can kill with a thought.

The humans have pluck. Um, that might not get it done.

In a magical war, conventional weapons are all but pointless, so all that stands between humanity and total annihilation is a handful of people with supernatural abilities - shifters and wizards, plus Anastasia Aaronson who just might be a demigod. Together they must find a way to fight back, a way to stop the false gods from taking over everything and everyone.

Luck is not on their side, neither is fate, but sometimes you just have to wing it and hope for the best.

When Steve Higgs wrote his debut novel, Paranormal Nonsense, he was a captain in the British Army. He would like to pretend that he had one of those careers that must be blacked out and generally denied by the government, and that he has to change his name and move constantly because he is still on the watch list in several countries. In truth, though, he started out as a mechanic - not like Jason Statham in the film by that name, sneaking around as a hitman, but more like one of those sleazy guys who charges a fortune and keeps your car for a week even though the only thing you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.

At school, he was largely disinterested in all subjects except creative writing, for which he won his first prize at the age of ten. However, calling it the first prize he won suggests that there were other prizes, which is not the case. Awards may yet come, but in the meantime, he enjoys writing mystery and thriller novels and claims to have more than a hundred books forming a restless queue in his mind because they are desperate to be written.

Now retired from the military, he lives in southeast England with a duo of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, he doubts he'll ever leave, the beer is just too good.

This was/is a revitting, edge of the seat, am consuming series. It was exhausting too. I could hardly put it down. It is only the second series I have ever read that chased everything else to take a back seat. And I have probably read a thousand books in my lifetime. As a voracious reader that is saying something. Not only is it exceedingly well written, but it showed that someone had proof read it. Because I found very few misspelled words or words in sentences that left you scratching your head in confusion. This too made it enjoyable to read. For these last reasons is why I rated it 5 stars +. Keep up the good work. A great story is ruined when you end up proof reading it.

I liked the flow of the story. Didn't drag. Interesting use of magic. Engaging characters, even if a bit two dimensional. A very quick read. Not a mystery nor high fantasy, but the books stayed in their lane and did not try to be more than they are. Humerus at times too. I wish the tactics the characters employed were more sound, especially those who had been alive for 4 millennia. I guess the author explained some poor/stupid tactics by the demon's and angels being overconfident and somehow elemental magic was beneath them...but that was never explained. I guess they could have just been unintelligent. I would think millennia old people would have learned a few things. Nevertheless, it was easy to overlook and enjoy the books.

I can’t say too much because everything I want to say will ruin the outcome. But I can say that you will enjoy reading it.

Unexpected but brilliant ending, so clever! I’m going to miss this series. I loved every word and the characters are imprinted on me. I’m saddened the series has come to an end. Well done Steve Higgs for all the hours of enjoyment. I love all your series and look forward to whatever you write next.

The series captured my interests on several levels. The ambiguity of angels and demons was fascinating. Higgs had me with original Blue Moon Investigations, but this has taken his writing skills to a new level.
