Intrigue, suspense, and sheer horror...This is the first book that I've read from Antoinette Corvo, so I had no idea what to expect. "Dirges in the Dark" is a quick, satisfying read that draws you in from the beginning. Antoinette Corvo packs in intrigue, suspense, and sheer horror into this delightful little tale... and that's quite a tasty little bundle, isn't it? Although they were a little shorter than I would have liked, I absolutely loved the imagery in some of the more supernatural scenes. They definitely left me wanting more. I'll definitely be looking out for more of Antoinette's work in the future. - Lou Yardley

About the author

Antoinette Corvo was born in Brooklyn, New York in the Gravesend/Coney Island area. She is of Italian heritage and a first generation American.
Antoinette Corvo is a Horror and/or Psycho-Thriller author. She adores giallo films and the works of Mario Bava, Lucio Fulci, Jess Franco, and naturally Dario Argento.
Antoinette loves being immersed in her culture yet she is also a hamburger and fries kind of person (not to mention Chinese Food!).
Antoinette Corvo has almost completely overcome a life-crippling mental illness since childhood from age eleven. Presently, Antoinette reached a level of confidence to share her voice. She has her husband Michael to thank for this.
She is currently a resident of the Pennsylvania Poconos, living her best life with her husband Michael Lee Caswell, spoiling her boxer K9 daughter named Vanilla Bean and their "gangsta" son parakeet Dunkin Donut.
The country life and being surrounded by nature was one of Antoinette's wisest decisions.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2023Tragic story. Relevant to today and the reality of cut throat theaters and families and mental illness. A bi-racial opera singer had everything going against her from home with a dysfunctional family and a weird relationship with her brother she thought she can trust. Gets gory but it’s really a mystery in a mystery and yes down a rabbit hole. Loved the ending. Interesting to root for the villain but for how long and how far? I recommend the short read HIGHLY!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2020The best horror stories are those that make you believe they might be true . . . stories that suck you in so deeply, the lines between author, narrator, and character become blurred, opening that door to the willing suspension of disbelief.
Dirges in the Dark is one of those stories, with Antoinette Corvo expertly teasing the reader from the first page, layering rumor upon urban legend, upon recollection of horror, upon questions of madness. There is a story behind the cursed theater or the Vassago, but it goes back even further than that of Hellen Grimaldi, the woman who brought it crashing down the second time. There are stories within stories here, and as soon as you start even wondering about one of them, you’re already being sucked down into the rabbit hole of believing all of them.
Ghosts and monsters. Ritual suicides and Satanic rituals. Death, undeath, and madness. This was a vintage style horror story that never gives up and never pulls back from its darkness. For my first taste of what Red Cape Publishing has to offer, this was excellent.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2021Antoinette really gives the reader a wonderful visualization and sense of old theater in Brooklyn and leaves us with a great sense of foreboding and creepy atmosphere. The story grips you and doesn't let up. It's a great book to sit and read on a stormy day. Keep the stories coming!!
