Queen of my Double-Wide Trailer: A Sweet Southern Romantic Comedy (Apple Cart County Christmas Book 3) Kindle Edition
I need a green light on a green card ASAP.
If not, I’ll forfeit my new job in Alabama and have to move back to Oval Island.
Sure, it has perfect weather, beautiful beaches, and all my family. But it also has my ex—a lawyer, pilot, and the governor’s son, who the whole island is in love with. Well, except for me.
My solution? Propose a marriage of convenience to a friend. And by friend, I mean more of an acquaintance.
Liam may be a little rough around the edges, but he doesn’t think like your average guy with a closet full of camouflage—and that’s a good thing.
He’s American-born and raised, and I need citizenship. Also, his trailer is condemned, and he needs a place to live.
You may not can buy love, but it turns out you can buy a temporary husband . . . by buying him a new double-wide.

"I sat down with this book preparing to have a good time. Well, that is exactly what I got! I loved this story of two completely different worlds coming together. Carmelita is the pearl of her island, and Liam is as redneck as they come. When separate circumstances turn into them needing each other, they agree to a marriage of convenience.
Everything goes well until their families find out. Then it's all a big Rollercoaster of Christmas traditions and family schemes. Oh, and don't forget mistletoe, lots of mistletoe!!
I was sucked into this book from the start and finished it in two sittings! Could have been one but kids. I love how Kaci paints the picture of rural Alabama. I felt like I was there celebrating a hillbilly Christmas with everyone in this book!!"
"What a great read! I loved the characters and the storyline. I laughed the entire way through. Kaci Lane has a true gift for storytelling- I cant wait to read more about this little town and hilarious characters!"
"I loved this one. Seeing Liam first hand instead of from other people's points of view made me love him. And Liam and Carmelita were so cute together! This series is so fun and I love experiencing this family's Christmas traditions each year from someone else's perspective."

About the author

Kaci Lane is an Alabama girl whose mission in life is to write stories that relate to real-life issues with a bit of comic relief. While unsuccessfully trying to learn Spanish for a decade, she has become fluent in Sarcasm, Southern Belle and movie quotes. She is married to a true Southern gentleman and has two young children, all of which help keep her humility in check.
With a background and degree in journalism, Kaci has written almost everything about anything. Well, except for topics that would make any good Southern Baptist’s face turn the color of a Crimson Tide football jersey.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2023This book made me miss my family so much. It reminded me of how much I loved my small southern family and the tradition that a lot of younger people may never understand until, or if, they experience it. I hope more than anything that the world goes back to the kind of family dynamic where love is unconditional and you can always go back to your Mom or Grandma's house when the going gets tough and the world tries to chew you up. Thank you Ms Lane for this book ♥️
- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2024I loved the story between the two main characters. I didn't like that there was so much fear on the part of the FMC about her parents making her stay in the Philippines when it turned out that they didn't give her a hard time at all. Also it made getting a green card look really easy. I don't think that it is easy to convince Immigration that you are married for the right reasons. Over all I enjoyed the story.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2023Liam and Carmelita. I loved the red neck repeatability of this story. It was a good story with several chuckle to laugh opportunities. Many relatives with weirdness or " out there " actions but that made it more believable. The basic bones love story was really good too.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2023This Southern girl's heart is full. I have laughed until my stomach hurts while reading this book. I knew I was going to love this book from the first chapter. I also knew that our main male character, Liam, was going to steal my heart when he goes to his frat party and is more interested in finding his Milo's sweet tea to drink than anything in a keg.
Liam is attending Auburn University, and he is really attending school for his education. He has no desire to get a degree in Party 101. He is a sweetheart, that was immediately apparent. He comes from a great family in Wisteria, Alabama. He is a simple guy with simple tastes. He is frugal with his money and lives in an old trailer in a park outside of town. He gets a notice on his door that he will either have to make some major repairs to his home, or they will condemn it for him. He needs a home.
Carmelita has just recently graduated from Auburn with her engineering degree. She has actually tutored Liam. Carmelita is from the Philippines from a wealthy family. She has no desire to return home and take over her family's business. However, she gets the shock of her life when she is told that her student visa has expired because she is no longer in school. If she is unable to get her green card, she will have to move back to the Philippines and will lose her new job. She needs a husband.
A marriage of convenience sounds like the perfect solution for these two. However, they are worlds apart from each other. They decide to give it a shot and remain friends only. The marriage will be on paper only. From that point forward, the wild ride will really start for these two, especially when Liam takes Carmelita home to celebrate Christmas with his family. This poor girl will not know what has hit her. She finds a loving family, who may be a little different from what she is used to for Christmas, but she feels at home. The laughs just kept coming. I never knew what I would find on the next page. I adored both of these characters as they tried to ignore their obvious feelings for one another. Liam's family was a barrel of laughs, but they also loved one another unconditionally. His sister is pregnant, and everything she did made me laugh. If you do not mind a visit to the South at Christmas, you will thoroughly enjoy this book as much I did. There is nothing more satisfying than a romantic comedy that truly provides comedic relief to me as the reader.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2024Carmelita and Liam were adorable. I LOVE cultural differences, especially when they are awkward and hilarious, which they were! On one hand, you’ve got a redneck, with a closet full of ammo, deer heads on the wall, living in a dilapidated trailer (obviously Liam). And then on the other hand you have a ‘Filipino Princess’ so to speak, who is gorgeous, super smart and is from a well to do family on her island (enter Carmelita). This was such a fun and lighthearted read, with just the right amount of romance and humor. Just perfect for my first read of the new year. I have adored each and every Kaci Lane book, and am super excited to read more.
*I received a copy of this book as an ARC reviewer, but a positive review wasn’t required. All thoughts are solely what I personally thought of this beautiful book.❤️❤️❤️
- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2023Carmelita has graduated from university and is ready to cement her life in the USA with her first full-time job. She’s confident her job at Alabama Science Services will keep her parent’s from requiring her to return to Oval Island to take over the family business. Unfortunately, the first news she gets is that she needs a green card, like yesterday. Her second shock comes at a kind suggestion that getting married might move that process along.
Liam lives off campus in a trailer park and likes it that way. His own space, quiet, home. Then one morning he’s informed his trailer must be upgraded by the first of the year. He doesn’t have the funds to buy himself a new trailer, nor the guts to room with the options he finds around campus.
Carmelita needs a husband.
Liam needs a home.
A napkin agreement is made, but can they keep it under wraps? If they can’t, will Liam’s southern family and hometown scare Carmelita enough to run home?
Christmas in Alabama looks like my favorite kind of chaos! Each chapter is one crazy character after the next and I couldn’t put it down. Carmelita has such a sweet acceptance of all the crazy. Liam is…well he’s honestly like all the local guys in my small-town hometown. From the hunting to the camo to the cluelessness about women, I was enchanted by true southern gentleman.
I haven’t read the 2 other books in this series, which means there was an almost overwhelming number of characters and names to keep straight. I’m sure that wouldn’t have been an issue if I had read the books in order.
If you are looking for something sweet, kind of outlandish, with little angst and lots of sweetness, this Christmas read is a great choice!
