Drama Castle: A Nicky and Noah Mystery (Nicky and Noah Mysteries Book 7) Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 17 ratings

Theatre professor Nicky Abbondanza is directing a historical film at a castle in Scotland, co-starring his spouse, theatre professor Noah Oliver, and their son Taavi. When historical accuracy disappears along with hunky men in kilts, Nicky and Noah will once again need to use their drama skills to figure out who is pitching residents of Conall Castle off the drawbridge and into the moat, before Nicky and Noah land in the dungeon. You will be applauding and shouting Bravo for Joe Cosentino’s fast-paced, side-splittingly funny, edge-of-your-seat entertaining seventh novel in this delightful series. Take your seats. The curtain is going up on steep cliffs, ancient turrets, stormy seas, misty moors, manly men, malfunctioning kilts, and murder!

Drama Castle is the seventh book in the Nicky and Noah Mystery series. This novel can be read, and enjoyed, as a stand-alone but knowing the history and interrelationships between the MC’s, their friends and family’s adds extra depth to the reading experience. This series is one of my favourite murder/comedy series and I highly recommend starting at the beginning with Drama Queen.

In Drama Castle we find our intrepid sleuthing hero’s Nicky Abbondanza and Noah Oliver, ably assisted by their adorably precocious ten year old son Traavi, once again on the trail of a mass murderer. Since murder and mayhem seem to follow them wherever they go, it should be no surprise to anyone that on a film making trip to Conall Castle in Scotland, bodies begin to appear from the first day of shooting. As heirs to the castle drop like bowling pins at a national championship, the motive becomes clear; someone is determined to take over the running the castle. Finding the killer proves far more difficult, however, when the suspect pool drains and Nicky is left with a seemingly innocent cast of characters and no apparent heir. With bumbling, incompetent and apparently clueless local law enforcement it’s up to Nicky and his hilarious group of role playing friends and family to save the day.

Nicky and Noah are gorgeous, fabulously over the top MC’s and their family and friends are cut from the same cloth. With dialogue that will have you in stitches, puns aplenty and an absurdly unforgettable film as a background, this Scottish adventure will hold your attention from the first to the last page. You’ll giggle your way through the mayhem as you try to match wits with Nicky to find the killer. I adore Joe Cosentino’s unique writing style in this series. It is intelligent and witty, with a big dash of farce that never crosses over to the absurd; mostly. When it does you’ll just love it even more.
For lovers of humour, murder and mystery, superb writing, and an overall fabulous read, I highly recommend Drama Castle.

Nicky and Noah are back for the seventh mystery and for my money it's one of the best in the series. Joe Cosentino's Drama mysteries are farcical and hilarious, a welcome change from the angst and clichés that abound in so many other gay mysteries. While the books are always funny and enjoyable, I felt Mr. Cosentino really nailed it in this one. HIs dialogue is always clever, but it really crackles in this one. I also felt the pacing was great. The author drops jokes and bodies with precision, keeping the story flowing.

This time around our duo of Nicky and Noah and some of their entourage of recurring characters are in Scotland filming a no budget movie when murder inevitably ensues. Their boss Martin and his husband Rueben are along for the production, and this one has some of their best banter. Imagine if Statler and Waldorf from The Muppets were a couple who shot their constant sarcastic barbs at each other, but in a weirdly affectionate way. Nicky and Noah's adoptive son Taavi and Noah's parents round out the recurring cast. I love Noah's mother, and if you're a fan of the series you can look forward to plenty more "Judy back in Wisconsin says . . ." jokes.

Nicky, Noah, and their son, Taavi, are back for a new adventure in Scotland.
Nicky is hired by Barclay Conall, owner of Conall Castle, to realize the movie adaptation of his book. While shooting the movie, Nicky and Noah are caught in the middle of a family drama full of jealousy, dark secrets, and resentment.
When the cast starts to get murdered, Nicky and Noah have no choice but to finish the film and find out who is the murderer.
It’s not a secret that I adore Joe Cosentino’s books and writing. I was more than happy to read a new adventure of my favorite Sherlock and Holmes.

Nicky and Noah are, like usual, a fabulous team as parents, teachers, and directors. In every aspect of their life together, Nicky and Noah complete each other perfectly. When they decide to come to Scotland with their son, Taavi, their friends Martin and Ruben, and Noah’s parents, Bonnie and Scott, they expect to realize a movie and enjoy a family vacation. But because we’re talking about Nicky and Noah, secrets, jealousy, and murder will happen on and out of the stage.

I love how they jump in the investigation to find out who the murderer is. I love how the author reveals some family secret, and not a little one, I didn’t see it coming if you want the truth. I love how dynamic and funny the story was. It was a big roller coaster. If you start it, you’re in it for the whole ride.

The writing was good, fresh, dynamic, full of fun, pun and politic’s references that only Joe Cosentino can do.
I gladly recommend this book. It’s a fun read full of sarcasm and love.

4 OptimuMM’s for my favorite family. Bravo!

Drama Castle by Joe Cosentino is the seventh exciting adventure of Nicky and Noah. These two main characters and their son, find themselves boiled into another murder plot. Mystery, mayhem, and humor are sure to follow. I loved the setting, Scotland. Scotland was one of those dreamy most popular talked places to travel to and now, Nicky and Noah have made it adventurous. Scotland is known for its sexy men in plaid kilts. In this book not all is as it seems. Quirky characters are introduced. They added to the flavor of the plot. Some I felt sad to see to go, but I loved knowing that Nicky and Noah would soon solve the case, again. It was just a matter of time. Danger, murder, and love are on the horizon in this exciting new novel. Joe Cosentino sure knows how to keep me entertained and laughing throughout the book. I couldn't stop reading it. This drama/romantic comedy went by faster than I thought. Action and character driven, this book is a must read for all.

I received this copy from the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ooh I've missed these guys..

Okay so this is number 7 in the series, I've read the beginning books but I caught the sight of this cover of sexy Scottish kilt and wanted to read. Recommended to read in order but I'll give it a crack out-of-order read ago. Oooh I have missed these guys Nicky and Noah have a great bond together and now with Taavi. Martin is as ever the gossip of the group but trouble ain't far away. Would Brody find love? The 3 Conall brother's are a mass of squabbles and mischief. Brilliantly written with a mystery to solve of who done it murder and mayhem. Humour is always included in these books.

Barclay Conall wants a film based on his novel story with a location of his castle in Scotland. Wanting Nicky 39 yrs and his hubby Noah to help produce it. A week spent in Scotland working what could go wrong..LOL   Yip I know these guys, famous last words..
