    Alice finds herself with a new case helping to investigate some unusual deaths, meanwhile the council has a plan for her, and she is faced with multiple challenges that put her life in danger.

    There are some really big events in this book, we discover some new information about certain characters, while we see some important, but devastating events.
    Alice learns a lot though, a great deal of it about herself and what she can withstand, physically and mentally.

    This is a book that is part of a series, and so it cannot be read as a standalone- it picks up shortly after the end of the last book and ends with the setup for the next book in the series.
    It’s an engrossing read, with a cast of fascinating characters, and an intriguing premise… although I have to admit that I agree with Alice that it might be nice if people would just share what they know with her instead of keeping her in ignorance!

    An engaging read for urban fantasy fans.

I like that the heroine is strong with a quirky sense of humor but compassionate too. I like the other characters too. They all bring something alive to the story. Warning it is a page-turner and midnight oil burner book. It is so full of twists and turns, and scary thrills that you are unable to figure out what is coming next or what is around the next corner. It has fast-paced action, mystery, and plenty of the supernatural with witches, Druids, vampires, fae, demons, and shifters of all kinds. Each book in the series just keeps getting better.

    I can’t wait for the next book. Alice Skye is a strong woman who doesn’t want to be protected by a man. She is alone with no family after her parents are murdered when she was a child. She had a big brother whom she also lost but now she thinks he survived and she has to find him. She is a Paladin and her job is to her track under contract. Will she find him only to find he really is lost to her? She seems to have the worst luck going from one life changing circumstance to another. There is lots of action, magic, and mysteries to solve. It is worth your time to sit back with the book and enjoy the ride.
