As I read through this book I saw too many similarities to my childhood and life as the eldest daughter, the expectations placed upon me and my responses and reactions. I could also understand, appreciate, and sympathize with some of the examples of eldest daughters in other cultures and socioeconomic circumstances. I appreciated the chapters on affirmations and boundaries, the use of quotes, and even the examples of songs. This book is written in plain, clear language and short sentences. It's easy to read, and says a lot. I expect the author is an eldest daughter, too. Well done! I shall recommend it to my friends who have also lived with the expectations of being the first born daughter.

“Eldest Daughter Syndrome” Presents an interesting and informative guys about how societies expectations of the oldest daughter and my family except her. Present, cultural, religious, and geographical differences, and how society norms are for the oldest daughter. I found it very interesting to read the differences. Although they are the same does depend on where you live and what culture within that presents different expectations around very good read!

As a mother of three daughters spanning various ages, I found this book to be incredibly insightful. It offered valuable perspectives that resonated with my experiences, especially in understanding and connecting with my eldest. The author's approach to addressing the challenges and dynamics of raising children with significant age differences was both enlightening and practical. As a mom of two teens, I picked up Eldest Daughter Syndrome to better understand my older daughter’s experiences, and it was such an eye-opener. The book does an incredible job breaking down the unique pressures eldest daughters face, like perfectionism and unspoken family responsibilities, in a way that’s easy to understand and deeply relatable. I especially appreciated how the author used the concept of setting boundaries and prioritizing self-care—it’s practical and empowering advice that I’ve already shared with my daughter. This book is a heartfelt and helpful resource for anyone navigating or supporting the role of an eldest daughter. Highly recommend!

Until I saw this book, I didn't even know this was a thing. I've heard and read about the basic birth order research, but this book peak my interest. I loved that this book addressed different ethnic families and their similiarities and differences. I found so much of this that applied to me and that I hadn't realized before. So, where you are a eldest daughter or are trying to learn much about your family's dynamics, this is a great place to start!

I am the second child in a family who grew up with a spectacular elder sister. I always knew she experienced certain trials and stresses I never did, and I wanted some insight on what all she and others in her shoes might have gone through. I absolutely feel like I did with this book and I feel all the more grateful to her now.
