During the group art exhibition Unstruct—in Hangzhou (China)—contemporary artist Kim Engelen showed a video still, presented in a light-box, of her Bridge-Performance called Empathetic Walking Panel. And a hard-cover version of this book on a pedestal next to it.The Bridge-Performance was captured using a selfie stick, showing the Empathetic Walking Panel from the front and closeby. And a drone camera showing The Broken Bridge with the Empathetic Walking Panel walking over it from above. For Engelen, the bridge is a symbol of connection, movement, and transition. During the bridge-performance Empathetic Walking Panel, Engelen asked three thought-provoking questions about the ex-pat community living in Hangzhou, China.     This book is about bridges, how they look, the metaphorical meanings and significance behind them and how they build contact between communities. Kim certainly brings people together with her workshops and gets everyone involved in creating art.
