A quick read of a young lady named Clara living chained to her parents, soon to be engaged to a man thrice her age, bony and balding. Caught with the salacious book HER DARK EARL by the Earl of Covington, she becomes his fascination. An affair should settle his thoughts and desire for Clara, but it only makes him feel more possessive. Can an earl twice her age admit that he's fallen in love and defy society? Explicit sex. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Short read, but a bit of a slow burn. Our main characters don't turn up the heat until about 48%. I wouldn't call this spicy, although it is explicit. In the end, it didn't quite hit the mark for me. 3.5 stars rounded up.

I read this story that was recommended to me for free. I love historical fiction stories. This is definitely the erotica version of historical fiction. The storyline is good but the crude language and explicit sex scenes were unnecessary to the story.

Enjoyed this quick and easy age gap storyline. Ms Frost writes short stories (less than 200 pages) where she is able to layout a background and strong character dev. This is the story of Clara and Hugh, who meet thru Hugh’s daughters when he arrives home to find them studying/discussing a book 📚 that of course women should know nothing about in those days. Hugh takes a fancy to Clara because of her rocking body even tho she is half his age.. I enjoyed how Clara knew what she wanted and went after it, same with Hugh.. no pretense or chase. A chance for an escape for both of them in a way.

This storyline could have easily added another 100 pages if Ms Frost wanted because there are so many directions if could have gone.. but she packed this book with enough details to let your mind picture what’s happening…. A recommend, looking forward to the nest one..

Jemma Frost's latest novella is Earl's Prize Curves. Clara is a young woman destined to play nursemaid to her aging parents and her future elderly husband. Hugh is the father of two of her friends, determined to stay away from the secretly bold young woman who intrigues him. Desperate to grab some bit of happiness for herself, Clara agrees to a week long secret affair. But at the end of the week can Hugh let her go to marry someone else? I gave 3 stars simply because I couldn't believe or connect with the characters. Hugh keeps ruminating on the age difference between them. This just didn't ring true to me. A man of that time period wouldn't concern himself with it, as an age difference between couples wasn't unusual. As for Clara, while I can totally understand her wanting to travel and see the world, I don't feel she would give up having any children. Especially when Hugh did not have a male heir to take over. It just felt wrong with the time period. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
Earls Prize Curves is the first book in the Lords Love Curves series by Jemma Frost. This is a quick, delicious little romance with lovable characters and a sexy, sensual plot. Miss Clara Netherfield has been a nursemaid for her parents her entire life. Hugh, the Earl of Covington, is immediately attracted to the much younger Clara. When Hugh devises a plan to introduce Clara to passion, she readily agrees, but neither can fathom that this physical desire could turn into something much more.

To me, Clara was a tragic figure. Clara is practically a servant in her home. Clara craves affection and is a sensual woman. Clara takes what she wants, knowing it might be the only joy she’ll ever have. My heart broke for the emotionally lonely woman. But Clara has an iron will and inner strength that makes her irresistible to Hugh.

Hugh knows better than to encourage this attraction to a woman half his age. Hugh falls under Clara’s spell and discovers it isn’t easy to forget her. Hugh is physically attracted to Clara, but it was his tenderness and affection toward Clara that stole my heart.

The sensual connection between Hugh and Clara was incredible. This is a short, easy-to-read book with an eye-catching plot. I loved that Clara was a “curvy” girl, and I also enjoyed the age gap. I devoured this wonderfully enchanting, sparkling romance. I love this new direction Jemma Frost is taking in the Lords Loves Curves series! This is a fantastic, quick read for a rainy afternoon. Hugh and Clara’s May/December romance was engaging, sexy, and fun! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through BookSprout. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a sweet but sexy quick romance. I feel it could have been fleshed out more but I guess the only problem I had was the storyline; the heroine, after spending her entire life caring for her elderly parents wound up with a man that she would eventually be taking care of. Not my idea of hea.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable but could do with a tweak

Likable characters and overall good story. Would have flowed a bit better if there were a few more details, especially in the intimate scenes. For instance does Clara ever take her hair down? Which way is she facing exactly when she is in his lap eating (sideways or directly in front)? Does she lick and suck in the forrest scene?

Also would have liked the H to work a bit harder for the h and maybe given the parents a piece of his mind.

3.0 out of 5 stars Doce com pimenta 🌶️

    Enfim, sigamos tentando acertar …
Diverte.

Lovely story of Miss Clara Netherfield and Hugh, the Earl of Covington. Clara has been a nursemaid to her parents for years and is now staring down the inevitability of marrying an older man that she will also have to look after. Meeting her friends' father, she comes to realize not all older men are the same. Loved these characters and their journey to fulfillment and happiness.

3.0 out of 5 stars Age gap, steamy, curvy girl romance
Reviewed in Australia on February 22, 2024
I grabbed this because it was in a curvy girl category. I didn't know, at the time, that it also had a significant age gap, and elements of dominance and submission. It's a quick read, definitely steamy, but not entirely to my taste.
