Eight Cozy Nights (The Sublime Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 338 ratings

It'll take a miracle for the two of them to last more than eight nights...

Larissa:
Hanukkah's never been my favorite holiday. In fact, I usually forget it's happening. This year though, despite nearly being killed by my tall drink of water new neighbor, I'm in the mood to celebrate. Only I can't seem to find my menorah...

Yo:
Hanukkah's one of my favorite holidays. I look forward to celebrating every December. This year could be more interesting than ever, when a gorgeous, curvy (and grumpy) woman moves in next door. Only I seem to have misplaced my candles...

Together these two opposites will light up the night.

If you love Hallmark movies, but sometimes wish the language was a tad saltier and the loves scenes, well, existed, then this funny, sweet, and sexy Hanukkah novella is for you.

Julia Wolf writes sexy rockers, grumpy billionaires, snarky heroines, and bad ass women. She’s a firm believer in happily ever afters, no matter how rocky the road is to get there.

She doesn’t believe in “guilty pleasures”, only pleasure. Reading about a plus size woman who gets absolutely railed by a hot rock star is pleasure. Reading about a damaged college student whose flaws are valued and loved by the grumpy guy next door is pleasure. Reading about love in a small town or big city or on a tour bus is pleasure. Reading romance is pleasure!

Julia lives in Maryland with her husband and three crazy, beautiful children. When she’s not writing romance, she’s reading it. Some of her favorite things are, in no particular order: goats, books, coffee, and Target.

A lovely, cozy & wonderful Hanukkah romance

A lovely, cozy & wonderful Hanukkah romance
EIGHT COZY NIGHTS by Julia Wolf is my first Hanukkah romance & I absolutely loved it! Things I Loved: 1. It’s a Hanukkah themed book! I loved the setting of the 8 days of Hanukkah. The family traditions, prayers, lighting of the candles and the age-old question of sour cream or applesauce with your potato latkes? 2. A cozy, open door & believable romance between two new neighbors. 3. These characters communicate & are open & vulnerable with one another. 4. A short & memorable novella - I seriously think novellas are my new thing. I don’t need a lot of build-up. Give me the love story and let’s get it going. 5. EIGHT COZY NIGHTS is a perfect foray into diverse holiday reads for me. I loved it so much! It’s part of a series but I read it as a stand-alone. This book can be read as a standalone & can easily be read in about 90 minutes.

This Hanukkah romance was amazing! So cute and fun and funny and gah I loved it so much. I completely bought into how Larissa and Yo’s relationship evolved over the course of 8 nights. This is a legit Hanukkah romance too: the traditions are front and center. Larissa and Yo argue about whether sour cream or applesauce is better for their latkes. I’ve heard about this argument before but I did not know how heated people could get over their preference and I got such a kick out of it. (For the record, I’d probably choose sour cream.)

Larissa and her neighbor Yo don’t get off to the best start when they first meet. But when she can’t find her menorah and he can’t find any candles, they decide to band together for one night and that leads to the next and suddenly they’re taking full advantage of not having work (for him) or school (for her) that week. Larissa is in grad school for bioethics and her studies were fascinating. And then I became fascinated by Yo’s fascination with bioethics and how he loved learning for the sake of learning but also for the sake of learning more about what matters to the people he cares about. Larissa tends to be more serious but we get to see her fun side, like her glee when it snows and how she interacts with her nieces and nephew.

Yo has been added to my Favorite Hero canon. He took her to the downtown public library and he bragged about the wingspan of his snow angels! Is he my dream man? Did he make me swoon repeatedly? Did he make me smile from his antics and from how fully and quickly he fell for Larissa? Absolutely on all counts. I also found his backstory to be refreshing. He used to be a douche player but reformed his ways and is really looking for someone to love. He’s also a hair dresser. It’s his family’s business but also something he loves. And he’s secure in his sexuality so he doesn’t mind if people assume he’s gay because of his profession. Just refreshing all around!

The side characters are no slouch either. I especially appreciated Larissa’s sister who writes erotic romance and loves to push the envelope. And Yo’s cousin was such a good friend to him. My heart bursts at the thought of them spending Hanukkah together for years to come.

I will for sure re-read this next year and I’m going to have fun exploring more by this author. This is the 6th book in a series but it's a standalone. Might as well go back to read book 1!

This time of year so many authors are releasing and offering their Christmas novels. To have a Hanukkah novel to read is great. I loved this book and the characters. I laughed so hard in the beginning my sides were hurting. The banter between the two sisters and the two main characters was great. It was a beautiful love story.

Our couple: Larissa (Ris) and Josef (Yo)

Larissa has just moved into a new apartment, and has an accident with her neighbor's bike. Turns out the neighbor is super-hot Yo, who is actually a really great guy.

I enjoyed this holiday story, which took place over the course of Hanukkah. In fact, they start really talking (beyond the injury scene) because Larissa needs a menorah and Yo needs some candles. I've never read a contemporary story with a Jewish main character (although one of my favorite historicals has a Jewish h: Vows Made in Wine). I liked some of the insights when the characters thought about what the holiday meant to them.

Larissa was incredibly prickly for a large chunk of time at the beginning of the story, for no apparent reason. She seemed to just not like men in general - found them disdainful. There was no explanation - abuse? bad breakup? That part bothered me a little because I like to understand my characters. However, Yo was the best! What a sweet guy! He was so sure of his place and purpose and was kind to those around him. I really liked him!

I absolutely loved this story - storyline, characters, development, loved it all. A mtzvah to me, as I haven't read many stories with a strong Jewish presence. It is one of the traits I so enjoy in Ms Wolf's books. As a NJB (nice Jewish boy, although I am 78), it warms my heart.

I have now read all the Sublime series to #5, and many other of her writings, and have never been disappointed. Thank you, Julia Wolf.

When Larissa nearly kills herself tripping over her new neighbor’s bike, she is not impressed. But when Yo introduces himself, she can’t help but be enamored by him. Will sparks be flying from more than just the menorah this Hanukkah?

When I saw Kindle Unlimited had a cozy Hanukkah romance novella, I was beyond excited. If you couldn’t already tell, I love all Hallmark Christmas movies and cute Christmas books but a Hanukkah book will always be more relatable to me.

I love that their romance is set over the 8 nights of Hanukkah. They’re both on breaks from work so it feels like a vacation from the real world and the perfect backdrop for a blossoming romance.

This book actually makes Hanukkah feel magical which is so refreshing to me. They weren’t trying to explain everything to a character or the reader. Instead, we get two Jewish leads enjoying Hanukkah together and letting it create all the sparks between them.

Eight Cozy Nights is everything I’ve always wanted from a Hallmark Hanukkah movie but it’s steamier, more authentic, and infinitely better

5.0 out of 5 stars Well written, fun Holiday Romance you don't want to put down
Reviewed in France on December 12, 2020
I bought this book by chance, after seeing a promotion on a friend's site.
I started it that night and finished it in two. It is well written, the characters have depth, we want to see them succeed. We can see there is something more to them, wonder why (it's probably somewhere in the rest of the series, but it doesn't hinder the comprehension of this book), and we definitely want their love story to succeed.
I'm not Jewish, and it was fun to discover a little more about the traditions of the modern family Hannukah celebrations.
I definitely recommend this book to people who enjoy sweet romance with a few (well written) naughty scenes thrown in there. I actually enjoyed the fact that the author wasn't shy about the actual bedroom scenes, and they were really integrated seemlessly into the narrative, not forced.
I liked the fact the practice of safe sex was clearly suggested.
    Great book.
