Endgame: Ocean Bay #1 Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 2,526 ratings

My name is Mercy James and I've always had a three-point plan.
1. Don't fall in love in high-school.
2. Get through senior year and snag a full-ride scholarship to college.
3. Get the hell away from my irresponsible mother.
I didn't think that was too much to ask for, and I've worked damn hard to make it a reality. Until my mother went and did the unthinkable! She's pregnant. Yep, the woman-child only went and got herself knocked-up by a man who lives on the other side of the country.
As if it wasn't bad enough to uproot my life six weeks before senior year, Mom's new beau comes with baggage.
A sweet stepsister, Amelia.
And the b*stard of all b*stards, Rourke.
Rourke is a senior like me, and he doesn't want me in his town, much less his home. He's also hell bent on making sure I know it. Thing is, I don't want to be there either, and if Rourke expects me to swan in and kiss his ass to make him like me, he has another thing coming. I'm nobody's bitch and he's about to learn that...

Endgame is a feisty standalone romance.

Due to its explicit content, bad language, and graphic content, Endgame is recommended for mature readers.

Amazing..
So I’m a little hooked on M.E. Clayton books. Once I discovered that her FMC aren’t doormats but have some feistiness, I had to read more of her books.I have to say this book took OBSESSION to a whole new level! Damien was all sorts of cra cra. I seriously had mix feelings about him. He definitely was all Alpha male with a lot of yummy dirty talk! Fiona had her moments of being sassy but more moments of being weak in my opinion. She wasn’t as strong as the FMC in Facing The Enemy. This story was emotional, funny with batshit craziness, and a whole lot of hot sex scenes all wrap in one.. Thank you M.E. Clayton for the fun read.

I can sit here and tell you over and over how amazing Endgame is, but honestly, the word 'amazing' is not even powerful enough to describe this book. This is probably the best book I've read all year, if not ever...and Rourke and Six are my favorite characters ever written! They were so well-developed, as individuals and as they progressed from their hate-to-love relationship, that I connected to them both on a deeper level and fell in love. The hilarity of their banter and sarcasm had me rolling! They are both so passionate and stubborn, which made them perfect for each other and butt heads a lot...and Mercy "Six" had steel in her veins and gave back just as much, if not more, than she got from Rourke. The sexual tension was so thick between these two that you could easily slice it with a butter-knife, and also had me quite turned on throughout ;-). The story and the plot are so well written, packed full with tension and excitement, absolutely captivated me and kept me turning the pages. I didn't expect Rourke to sink his hooks into my heart the way he did but I've found my new #1 book boyfriend in him <3

Cheese & crackers, this book is FANTABULOUS!!!! I flippin' loved Rourke & Mercy! No matter how obnoxious and cocky he was or how straight-up, throw-down crazy she was! You're furious, you're crying, and before you can grab a tissue; you're snorting in laughter! I was invested in these characters and could not put the book down. You understood their issues and reasons for their actions; while all the while you're screaming at your Kindle, "don't do it;; don't do it"! Trust me this is one of those sit down and settle in reads, because you won't be able to put it down even if it is 4:30am in the morning! This was a delicious morsel that was like chocolate for the reader's soul! I'm addicted!!!! Even the background characters make you cross your fingers and wish upon a lucky star that you'll soon be reading adventures as enjoyable as this one was about them!! HINT: DARYL & MOLLY, PLLLLEEEASE Oh Amazing Chloe Walsh, My Bday is in December!!!! I'll be waiting!!!!!

Six and Rourke’s story reminds me of another book The Paper Princess.
Rourke was a downright ass for most of the book but he didn’t know how to deal with his emotions. Understandable with everything that has happened to him but sometimes it was just overboard. Trust issues. Don’t we all have them!!???
I have mixed emotions about this one. I was with Six until she got annoying as hell. One second she didn’t want Rourke the next second she wanted him close by. She was confusing as all get out. I started feeling bad for Rourke.
Chick make a decision and stick to it.
Although Rourke was a jerk for the first portion of the book. I actually enjoyed his character better than Six’s. Six tried to exude strength, but she was a lost, confused, lonely and sad girl. Reading the story, you would understand why. Her mother is a piece of work. Won’t anymore about that woman.
In conclusion to my rant the book was written well and an easy read.

This was really good!!! My 1st book from this author. I loved it. Will read more books from her. Very entertaining with a good amount of drama. I will say I got a little annoyed at the bickering and constant back forth. Not in the beginning but more towards the middle and on.. More so from Mercedes. I felt she could be childish at times.

FYI for those like me that want to know(a spoiler if you even want to call it that.. about sex)They finally have sex at about 80% of the book.

3.5 stars. YA high school romance with spice. I enjoyed the story - both the H & h are broken and have their own issues. This is a bully high school romance with 17-year-olds.

Mercy and Rourke’s story was heartbreaking and frustrating. Both Mercy and Rourke have had to grow up way to quickly. When Mercy’s mother drops an unexpected bomb on Mercy, she finds herself moving across the country and into an upscale neighborhood with her new stepfather and step siblings. Rourke has had it with his father bringing a never ending string of women into his life. He is bitter and resentful and takes his anger out on Mercy. Rourke was a total jerk, but he met his match with Mercy. You just knew Rourke was hurting, but you just wanted to slap him upside the head at how he treated Mercy. Loved how Mercy never backed down and stood up for herself. Highly recommend.

I freaking love Rourke & I love Mercedes! The banter between these two is amazing but the sex..oh. My. God so freaking HOT!!!! This my first book by Chloe Walsh & it did not disappoint. She is an amazing writer, with a great story. I do wish the ending was a bit longer just because it felt sudden but I loved the epilogue. I can’t wait to read book two.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow what a book .

This book is really good and brilliantly written a very talented author. Most would think a high school forbidden love story is for young adults only but this is written in such a way and has quite a adult feel to it . The sex scenes are not tame but really good.
The book evolves around Mercy James and Rouke Owens who are thrust together by their parents marrying but its never a simple life as they soon realize . Mercy is sassy ,sexy but still vulnerable. She's had a rough life ,growing up looking after her mother and dealing with her roving door of boyfriends . But that changes when she marries Gabe Owen ,moving them to ocean bay and into the Owens life . Its rich and not what Mercy is used too . Bring in the mix of Rouke ,Gabe's oldest child and who doesn't want another step family (he's had 5 before this ) . So he steps out to ruin their lives and make it as hard as possible.
During the book , you learn that both of them are damaged and maybe they need each other to become whole .
This is a brilliant book and would recommend to everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Rourke and Mercy
Reviewed in Australia on May 9, 2019
Holy mother of, wow! I absolutely loved reading Endgame! I fell in love with Mercy and Rourke from the very beginning and couldn’t put the book down.
I loved this gritty, angsty, teenage drama that has an enemies to lovers story that follows Mercy and Rourke.

Mercy and Rourke are thrown together with the marriage of their parents and neither is happy about it and doesn’t want anything to do with each other. Rourke is an absolute a$$hole to Mercy and calls her Six (because she is the sixth step sibling he has had since the death of his Mother) but he has his reasons for being the way he is and he does redeem himself. Mercy gives as good as she gets with Rourke, she doesn’t back down and the love/hate they have for each other is explosive. The sexual tension and chemistry they have is off the charts and when they finally give in to each other it is hot and steamy.

Damn I really wanted more of these two, one thing I thought was missing was at the end, I would have loved to see how they handled their parents and finished the school yr before just skipping forward 4yrs, but I did love that epilogue and seeing where they ended up together.
