Ahhhhh.
I do love me these taboo treats. They are quick, dirty, crazy reads that always hit the right spot for me and this one? Well, this one ended up pulling a few heartstrings along the way as well and had me devouring every word.
Having met Enzo, Jenna and Cora in Dane, I was already fully invested in their story from the get go and I swear it was all kinds of goodness. Enzo is such a good man. He’s compassionate, empathetic and determined. He’s also all kinds of alpha smexy when it counts. Jenna, while wary and cautious of everyone, she still hopes, and is determined to obtain a better future for herself and Cora. Enzo and Jenna’s journey to their HEA was a fun one, an emotional one, but fun. It’s more slow burn than insta and I loved how everything progressed between them. The taboo aspect is obvious and done well and I loved how everything turned out for them.
This was a fun, quick read and though there was some drama, most of which surrounded the living situations Jenna and Cora had to deal with, the angst was low. There are quite a few characters/couples from previous taboo treats that pop up in this one, which is typical, but this one can be read as a standalone, though I do recommend reading Dane first if at all possible. As for the characters themselves, I loved catching up with them ~ even if I have to go back and remember how I knew them all in the beginning ~ and there is a new one in the mix that I can’t wait to learn more about!

This is another heart wrenching taboo story from Kristi that has some serious lessons and harsh realities combined with some steamy times. This book goes into the unfortunate lives of foster kids and living within the system and many issues that comes with her experiences. I love how Jenna is so strong for always protecting the ppl she loves and how she has endured all these tough times and have matured beyond her age. She has her vulnerabilities but still lets ppl help her slowly and shows strong character. She has strong internal strength that pushes her to anything for the ones she loves even with the little she has. She inspires me to be a little stronger and be a " good swimmer " when life tries to drown you. Enzo is very loving and kind but he is sometimes too uptight and does everything by the book. But he really does care for Jenna and his family so he finds himself helping her as much as he can and offers a refuge for her in a world where she never had anyone who cared about her. Overall very sweet stories that have another complex layer of societal issues and obstacles ppl face that are in bite side chunks of around 250 pages 🥰
