    While I did enjoy the book, the author's constant use of British terminology instead of American when the story is set in Los Angeles with characters that grew up in California kept breaking my immersion. A fry up is not a term that's used and beans/mushrooms for breakfast... nope. They're not terrace houses they are either row houses or town houses. Walking somewhere in LA... nope Pasadena being a big place... sprawling yes big no. They are not chips, they are fries. Pet is not a super common term of endearment. Google search tells me it's used in the NE US not the LA area, and Emma said no to pet play. Mate is not used for friends, if they weren't in the law profession I would suggest dude. As they are lawyers, first name would likely be used. Take out is expensive likely Emma would have learned how to cook something simple.... pasta, shake n bake, meatloaf, tacos, something from a can, or ramen/cup noodle.

    This is an amazing love story. Emma is a strong, independent woman who finds more strength in an D/s relationship. Aiden is a billionaire Dom who instinctively knew Emma was special. There dynamic made for an intense, sexually charged story. The characters have some strong friendships and loyalty. There are also some scenes with extreme violence that are not for the faint of mind or heart. Those scenes are important to the plot and character reveal with a dose of reality. This is a very good read.

    Going into Explicitly Owned I had high hopes and couldn't wait to dive in. Unfortunately is left me wanting. It had some really good and steamy scenes and several cute moments but the dialog seems off to me but that may just be a personal preference. Overall it's still worth checking out the characters are great!

    The characters and story were undermined by lack of any Basic research so dialogue and setting jarred irritatingly!
    American setting undermined by British terminology
    Mum - instead of Mom
    Trousers - instead of Pants
    Bungalow - instead of single storey
    Company - instead of Law Firm (actually its law firm in UK too)
    Managing Director - should be managing partner in a law firm in both countries!
    Worse still! Using British locations like Park Lane for Monopoly- in the US they have things like 5th Avenue!
    Lots of instances of poor grammar and misused words - my advice - if you cant be bothered to do ANY research about the settings of your stories, set them in the UK - nowhere else. Your own exposure to US tv /movies should have told you most of this and for everything else there’s google!
