Fitzwilliam Darcy, Master Spy: A Pride & Prejudice Variation (Dimensions of Darcy Book 6) Kindle Edition
Fitzwilliam Darcy is the Crown's most formidable secret weapon—a Master Spy. His latest mission will test his limits when he's assigned to protect England's foremost code decipherer, Mr. Thomas Bennet… and his wife and five unmarried daughters.
Elizabeth Bennet does not suspect that her father's puzzles are for anything more than the improvement of their minds and her sisters' dowries. When she's thrust into Mr. Darcy's company, she is captivated by the mysterious gentleman. There is something dangerous about him… something she can't quite put her finger on but is determined to discover.
Surrounded by danger and secrets, Darcy's greatest challenge is to protect the woman he's falling for without embroiling her in his perilous world of espionage and deadly foes—a mission doomed for failure until he accepts that two are better than one and that Elizabeth is the key to overthrowing the machinations of a criminal mastermind.
Fitzwilliam Darcy, Master Spy is a sweet and clean Regency romance with comedy, suspense, and adventure. It is a variation of Jane Austen's timeless classic, Pride and Prejudice and the sixth book in the Dimensions of Darcy series of standalone novels.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2024Plenty of humor with some page turning suspense that had a real grit to it. The serious, noble Darcy we all recognize adds dashing physically fit spy and bits of a nerdy soft heart for animals to his character resume. Elizabeth, has her spark, intelligence and stubbornness but is quite taken with Darcy from their first meeting - and what a meeting it is! The Bennets are more agreeable with the three younger girls not yet out and a house in town of all things.
I enjoy Jennifer Joy’s entertaining and consistently well crafted stories and add this one - with the added treat of an extended epilogue - to her delightful offerings!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2024In this variation Darcy amd Colonel Fitzwilliam are both spies working for the Prince. Mr. Bennet is a code breaker. When Darcy is assigned to protect the Bennet family, Darcy must find a way to do so without entangling his heart to Miss Elizabeth. Bingley's interest in Jane becomes a convenient reason to be around. However, Darcy soon finds himself falling for Miss Elizabeth's quick wit and perceptive mind. She finds herself intrigued by Darcy and she knows there is more going on than meets the eye.
Adventure, mystery, intrigue, betrayal, and a happy ending complete this story. I enjoyed this and would recommend it.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2024Oh, my goodness. I could not put it down. It grabbed me by the throat on the first page and didn’t let go. There was plenty of angst but it was tempered with humor. The threats to the stability of the nation hung the balance. Fears were rampant and no one was to be trusted. Agents of the Crown were on high alert. Something was brewing and lives would be lost in the discovery of the plot. In the middle of this melee were Fitzwilliam Darcy and Miss Elizabeth Bennet. Mr. Bennet was the Crown’s best cryptographer and he needed to be protected as well as his family of five daughters. Darcy, one of the nation’s best agents, was given the duty to protect them. Darcy was not pleased with the assignment to ‘babysit’ a gaggle of girls and an old man. That was his first false assumption. There would be others and many, many secrets would be revealed before the true villain was discovered. High drama, animal humor, and heroic actions propel this story to a five-star rating. The violence might be too much for a young or sensitive reader.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2024If this is the last of the series, then she saved the best for last; if not, this one will be difficult to top. No spoilers so the surprises aren’t exposed. Excellent story with delicious twists. Darcy and Elizabeth are very interesting without straying too far from canon.
Highly recommended as a great story with an interesting mystery, wonderful secondary characters (e.g. Claude), and scenes that make one laugh aloud.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2024This was a cute read. It had none of the usual I-hate-him angst. As always is true of Ms. Joy's books, it was well-written and edited. I was hoping for a bit more romance, but it was an enjoyable read.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2024I love this series, and I think this one will end up being one of my favorites. There is lots of action for Darcy and the Colonel. I also very much enjoyed the interplay between Darcy and Elizabeth. Elizabeth is clever and makes important contributions without becoming perfect. Darcy makes a great spy, while still being true to character. The book focuses on the main storyline so the plot moves quickly. I read it in one evening. I liked seeing the impact of having a happier and more fulfilled Mr. Bennet. I also enjoyed the cameos of characters from the author’s other books. As usual, there is plenty of humor too. All in all, I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Darcy as a spy!
Jennifer Joy is always very creative when establishing a premise for a new book. This time, our Mr. Darcy is a spy for the Crown in this well-plotted, but low-angst mystery. His latest assignment and that of Richard: protect Mr. Bennet and his family. Let’s just say Darcy isn’t fond of the idea of making the acquaintance of a matchmaking mama and her five daughters. Ironically, he meets them by accident at Hyde Park—thanks to a cat as ornery and proud as Darcy fans know he sometimes can be—and the following day calls on the family along with Richard and Bingley. Yes, the Bennets have a house in London, as well as their estate in Hertfordshire. Both locations are used in the book as they travel back and forth. Because it is a mystery, I won’t say much more, as to not spoil it for anyone, and focus on the characters.
This novel was so good and such fun to read. The relationships and interactions were all delightfully brought out in the well-written, and often humourous dialogue which features throughout the story, including that of the secondary characters. The three youngest Bennet daughters are not out and have a governess. Darcy and Richard’s brotherly banter was so diverting; I laughed out loud at them. A clever, but obstinate, headstrong Lizzy was very likeable, but sometimes her good intentions had Darcy gritting his teeth. I loved how the author had her love Darcy without all the usual misunderstandings—even though he almost blew it. He had to keep his ‘occupation’ secret after all. Alas, for her, he was just too irresistible to not forgive. Loved the Matlocks and Georgiana too, even though their roles are brief.
I highly recommend this light-hearted mystery—some intrigue without too much angst.
Kisses only.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great plot, marvelous writing
I loved the storyline and mostly how everything, even the slightest of details, were explained in the end. This is not something easy and requires a lot work in order to make sense for the plot, which was marvelously done by the author. The only thing I missed were more romantic interaction between the main couples, their tenderness and afterwards plot life. Regardless, it is a great story and I highly recommend it.

3.0 out of 5 stars About as silly as expected
Sort of entertaining but I wish I hadn’t paid for it. Other reviews made me expect more. I like humourous versions but this missed the mark.
