First Place Witch: A Beechwood Harbor Magic Mystery (Beechwood Harbor Magic Mysteries Book 8) Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 950 ratings

It’s the chance of a lifetime, but Holly’s not sure she can survive the spotlight’s harsh glow.

With her potions shop officially open for business, Holly sets off to the San Francisco Haven to compete with the most elite potions masters in the entire country. But what should be a fun and potentially life-changing experience quickly sours when Haven Council officials show up and start poking around Holly’s workstation.

When one of the competitors is found murdered, all eyes swivel to Holly and her apprentice.

Holly doesn’t know who killed the egotistical wizard, but she knows it wasn’t her or Harmony. She also knows that there are some on the esteemed Haven Council who wouldn’t hesitate to blur the lines of the investigation if it means getting rid of her once and for all.

Holly, Adam, Evangeline, and Harmony have to find the real killer before the clock runs out and Holly ends up wearing SPA handcuffs.

Review

Amanda Ronconi is fabulous as the voice of Holly and the series. I hear her voice for each character and catch the tone of the story easily.-- "Delighted Reader"

Holly gets asked to participate in a potions competition right after opening her shop. Only problem is that platt, the councilman who dislikes her, is a judge. Then a contestant is murdered and Holly is chief suspect. Now she has to prove her innocence. Poor Holly cant catch a break.

Its fun to see our favorite characters back, even Teddy. The mystery is fun to follow with nail biting suspense!

5.0 out of 5 stars Reality tv is deadly
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 27, 2023
Holly's new potion shop has hardly opened before she's invited onto a potion brewing tv contest.

But she's barely made it through the first round before one of the other contestants is dead and Holly's been framed.

This was an enjoyable read although I was a little disappointed by the fact that the mystery was solved by someone overhearring a call rather than by Holly following clues.

Still the ending is as sweet as pie and I always love hanging out with Holly and co.

This is book 8 in a series. You will enjoy this book more if you read the series in order.
