Forever the Highlands (The Highlands Series Book 6) Kindle Edition
Fyfe Moray raised himself. His only real family is his best friend, Lewis Adair. For that reason, Lewis’s sister Eilidh is totally off-limits. Fyfe is in deep denial about their intense attraction. Thankfully, Eilidh is a famous actor living in London while he runs his cyber security company from the Highlands. They’re worlds apart. Until one day, Eilidh reaches out asking for a lifeline and Fyfe can’t bring himself to turn her away.
Acting isn’t what Eilidh Adair expected. As a kid, she wanted to be just like her famous uncles. But the double-edged sword of fame cuts deeper than expected. Afraid to admit she’s made a mistake, Eilidh is spiraling. The only person who knows the truth is Fyfe, but her childhood crush has developed into a love he won’t return. Yet when she comes home intent on starting over, Fyfe can’t seem to stay away. His confused feelings might just be the end of them. Until a woman from Fyfe’s past abandons the baby daughter he never knew he had.
Now a single father, Fyfe needs support. He just never expected Eilidh to be the one he needed most. Fyfe can’t believe how quickly he falls for his child and how rapidly his world view changes. He’s ready to admit the truth: he’s madly in love with his best friend’s sister. And Fyfe’s done wasting time.
But someone else believes Eilidh belongs to them. Someone who has been watching her far longer than she realizes. Just when she thinks she might have everything she wants, Eilidh finds herself caught in the crosshairs of a person intent on destroying everything she holds dear.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2024Moment of silence. Standing ovation. Tears. I'm so terribly sad that this series has come to an end, and I am not ready to say goodbye to the Highlands or the Adair's, but wow, I loved this book so much!!
Eilidh and Fyfe and Millie were so just (chef's kiss) adorable! I loved them so much.
Definitely an angsty slow burn romance between Fyfe and Eilidh, I love the single dad surprise element for Fyfe, plus the bonus getting to see so much of our beloved past characters from the Adair family and the Highlands series!!
If you've been reading the Adair Family Series and the Highland Series, you will remember Eilidh from all in her dad's book (There With You, Adair Family Series). We've basically followed along as she's grown up, from the sassy little thing, to this very strong, independent, capable young woman, who stubbornly sets her mind to something and sticks with it. We meet Eilidh when she is struggling with choices she made and the career she chose of becoming an actress. Eilidh is regretting said choices, but is too stubborn to admit that.
Fyfe has returned back to Ardnoch after university and a successful venture into tech. He has more money then he knows what to do with and is a computer genius. He is now running the security company that manages security for the Adair's and the Estate. He and Eilidh reconnect and he helps Eilidh to see that she can lean on her family and they won't see her as a failure or whatever nonsense Eils has in her head. But, Fyfe is also stubborn and has a big mouth, and Eilidh hears him say something stupid to Lewis, his best friend and her older, protective brother. This throws a wall back up between them and Fyfe feels that he lost a friend all over again, while Eils is devastated that Fyfe sees her that way when she has always had very real feelings for him.
Fyfe and Eilidh are always seeming to run on miscommunication, mistiming, and missteps, between both of them, until fate intervenes for both. When Fyfe needs someone, Eilidh is there. When Fyfe finally figures his feelings out, Eilidh doesn't make it super easy for him, and he definitely has to grovel, which he deserves.
I'm so sad that our time in the Highlands is over. I hope someday we come back and Samantha continues on with the second generation in another series, because I would love to know where the Adair kids end up! It takes really great characters and writing to fall so in love with a series, and these characters are some of my favorites!!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2024Forever the Highlands is the last installment of the Highlands and it is so bittersweet. Just like Lewis, Eilidh is one we knew since she was a wee child. It was great getting to see glimpses of her throughout the series. But in this book Eilidh shines. Eilidh has been going through it with her career and the only saving grace was a friendship that she struck up with Fyfe who happens to be her brother's best friend. I loved getting to see them bond through their exchanges all those years and it is pretty evident when feelings grow deeper. But of course it is not easy to navigate a brother's best friend/best friend's little sister situation. The push and pull and the tension between these two were at an all time high. It was fascinating to see what will happen. Both Eilidh and Fyfe has had a rough go of it in their lives and to see how Samantha weaves that through and to make both of them vulnerable and deserving of love and family was so heartening. I loved Eilidh and Fyfe together. These two were just it. They were made for one another and it was so nice to see when it all came to fruition. Of course it is always great to see the Adair family again and of course some of the previous couples from the Highlands series. They just bring so much wisdom and devotion. And the mystery and suspense we got, just added a little oomph to the story. Also I love the bonus we got at the end-just the right now to end on. Overall, what a terrific story with the best characters and writing. The Highlands have been such a remarkable series. While I am sad that this is the end, I am grateful for the time that Samantha gave us. I am so excited for what she has in store for us readers.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2024Fyfe and Eilidh had known each other since they were kids and she was tagging along with Fyfe and her brother, Lewis. We see glimpses of them throughout the series but this book dives deep into their complex relationship throughout the years. Eilidh had a crush on Fyfe since she was 11. Fyfe was left to raise himself as a teenager and leaving him emotionally closed off to love and relationships.
I really loved these two. Fyfe has become a success despite his upbringing. Eilidh is a famous actor living in London rethinking her career choices. Fame has a downside and she’s experiencing the ugly and even threatening sides of celebrity. She comes back home for an extended break to figure things out and be close to family. She realizes her crush has developed into real feelings. However, Fyfe, poor Fyfe is determined to keep his distance due to loyalty to her brother and he’s convinced he’s not capable of the love she deserves. Eilidh creates a separation from Fyfe to protect her heart and move on. However, she puts that aside without hesitation to help Fyfe, when an infant is suddenly placed on his doorstep and he’s a single dad overnight.
I love Eilidh’s strength. She’s feisty, funny and isn’t afraid to put her mental health first while she finds her way. Fyfe is incredible when he finally realizes his own worth. He’s fierce, protective and romantic at heart. There’s so much to their story. This has everything I love about Samantha Young books. It’s a captivating story with great character development. It’s a slow burn but with sexual tension for days. And when they finally give in, it’s hot! There is plenty of suspense coming from everywhere and you just want these two to catch a break finally. Shane East and Zara Hampton-Brown captured these two perfectly and have been brilliant throughout the series.
I like that this entire series spans decades and the characters continue to grow and update throughout. So many times, you just want more after the HEA and epilogues. This solves that problem. Can we talk epilogues? Samantha Young has gifted us an extended epilogue that covers couples from the entire series. I loved it so much reading the eBook that I bought the audio just to listen to the epilogues immediately.

5.0 out of 5 stars Series Clincher
Read all the books of this very entertaining Highlands Series. To me this one is the ultimate culmination of everything depicted in the series written with lots of care and pathos by Ms Samantha Young.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning, brilliant, incredible, amazing, heart-warming.
I can’t even put into words how much I loved this book, so let me start by saying this is one of my favourite books of 2024. It literally had me sobbing as I read it on the bus. Fyfe and Eilidh's story is one for the ages and the perfect farewell to this incredible family.
I was first introduced to this charming fictional Scottish town and its inhabitants through the Adair series. The Highlands has been a delightful read, as we were given the chance to meet additional exceptional characters and revisit old favorites, as Samantha explores second-generation characters such as our FMC Eilidih Adair.
I adore how Samantha Young took us back in time to reveal the full story of Eilidh and Fyfe, showing us how their friendship grew and changed over time. This made their romance a smoldering slow burn, as you could truly experience their journey from friends to lovers.
Eilidh has truly become one of my favourite characters. I feel like her story is one most of us can relate to at some point in our lives. It's a story where hating yourself, wanting to find yourself and the pressure that comes with all of that feels so real, raw and powerful that will have you in tears. Samantha does an incredible job showing us how she battled that and how she learned to lean on her loved ones, that she wasn't alone and could accept help when needed. Both her and Fyfe overcome so much in this story, it felt so real, so raw and so human. Their struggles and their triumphs made their happy ending so much more rewarding.
Fyfe's journey is also a complex one. He comes from a broken home and basically had to raise himself as a child. He knows what it feels like to be left, to not have anyone on his side. It wasn't until he met Lewis and was welcomed into the Adair family that he started to feel like he had someone in his corner. He has always admired, respected and trusted Eilidh, but he wouldn't allow himself to go deeper, as the friendship with her brother, and the rest of the family means so much to him to put at risk. It isn't until Eilidh goes back to Arnoch and a shocking surprise is left at his door that he lets himself explore his true feelings for Eilidh.
Seeing old characters come back was the cherry on top. The surprise second epilogue was the perfect way to finish this beautiful series as we got a glimpse of all our favourite couples.
I highly recommend this entire series if you love small towns, found family and Scottish brogues. Samantha has written an astounding fictional small town, full of incredible set of characters and epic storylines that will make you wish you could get swept away and be part of it. If you are looking for me, I will simply be daydreaming of being in Ardnoch.
Tropes:
- Brother's best friend
- Friends to lovers
- Famous fmc
- Small town suspense
- Starting over
- Surprise single dad

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, amazing and beautifully written
Congratulations Samantha Young on an amazing book to end the series. I’m crying that this is the end and I’m not ready to say good bye yet (hopefully we will meet them again).
What I loved most was from the very beginning you can see the connection they have between them. For Eilidh to come from a very comfortable family home and Fyfe to have a poor and trouble family. For that to be so different but for them to be so alike at the same time.
When Millie arrives and how Eilidh just steps up and helps no matter what’s happened between her and Fyfe. It absolutely warms your heart.
I’ve loved everything about this book and the whole series. Having the privilege to read this early, I’ll never be ungrateful.
For anyone who hasn’t read any of Samantha Young’s books, please 🙏 start because once you start you won’t be able to stop.
Looking forward the next adventure ❤️❤️

Samantha Young really gets how to write characters... they come off the page in a way few others in the genre manage to do.

The 6th and final book in the Highlands in almost here! I had the pleasure of reading this early, which I’m so grateful for, but I’m so sad the series is over!😭
I have been dying to read this one from the moment Samantha Young teased us with this pairing and it did not disappoint!!
This one follows Eilidh and Fyfe. Eilidh is Lewis’s sister and Fyfe is his best friend. They’ve known each other since early teens Eilidh has been in love with Fyfe all that time. Fyfe has always known about her crush but she’s his best friend’s little sister, he could never go there. But when the two of them start talking and texting privately after a chance encounter, they become so much closer. We get to see their friendship grow over 8 years. We see the tension build, the hurt, the fun moments and the missed moments. The “will they, won’t they” tension had me on the edge of my seat!
Fyfe and Eilidh went through so much throughout this book, not just in their childhood but as adults too. Eilidh struggled a lot with being a young and famous actress. Learning how cruel the world can be really affected her mental health but I loved seeing her growth through the book.
Fyfe has always said never wants a relationship, after being abandoned by his mother at a young age, he thought he could never love or commit to someone like that. But when he unexpectedly becomes a single dad, and Eilidh puts her feelings aside to help him, he sees that fatherhood has changed his perspective on who he can love. But will he be able to convince Eilidh that he loves her for her and not for helping him with his daughter?
I loved that Fyfe and Eilidh started off as friends, that they were there for each other in ways others couldn’t be. There’s just something so sweet about being childhood friends and having that trust in someone.
I won’t say much about the suspense but just when you think it’s over something else happens, couldn’t predict it all 🤣
While I’m sad this series is over, it was a beautiful ending. Those epilogues were perfect!
This one also reiterated my love for Thane & Regan (Eilidh’s parents) I just love those two so much and I loved that we got to see so much of them again!
