One Little Kiss: A Small Town Second Chance Romance (The Westbrooks: Family Ties Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 2,214 ratings

Colton Westbrook

One night in a deserted airport terminal, and I knew I needed more. One kiss, and I was all in. Then she ghosted me, and I don’t know why.

It was a kiss that branded me, scared me, could even ruin me if I were that guy searching for a happily ever after.

But that’s never been me.

I’m not hiding from the paparazzi in my brother’s home, secretly searching for the one that got away. I’m not wandering frozen city streets, hoping I’ll see her again. And I’m definitely not that guy who relies on a crazy old lady and her tarot cards to find a girl.

That’s not me.

Until it is.

She was just a girl at the airport who turned into the girl I couldn’t forget.

Winnie Darling is the one who got away.

Until a meddling old lady helps me find her again.

And this time around?

I’m playing for keeps.

Avery Maxwell is an American contemporary romance novelist specializing in emotionally driven characters who bring love, chaos, heat, and a side of angst to every story she writes. She grew up in a tiny Vermont town with one flashing light and four stop signs. If you look closely enough, you can often find similarities between her small hometown and the stories she creates.

Avery now lives in North Carolina with her husband, four mini-humans, and two puppies. She fills her days with carpools and sporting events while using her nights to create stories that are impossible to put down.

When Avery isn’t on mom-duty or busy writing, you can find her at a concert or snuggling on the couch with a glass of wine and her very own Prince Charming.

Trains, planes and GG.
Everyone dreams of finding that certain someone who will sweep you off your feet. Or if you are an avid book reader you dream of a book that will run away with your heart and your imagination. One Little Kiss is here to do both and I couldn't be happier. Colton Westbrook, forever the little brother, the lost boy, the man child with no real purpose. Except for that's not who he is at all. Wendalyn Darling oldest daughter to a free spirited single mom who does everything in her control to keep things safe and inline. One night in an airport and the courses of two lives, well more in the long run are forever changed. This is a beautiful story about truly what growing up is all about. And it's not about finding control, it's not about cutting back on fun, it's about embracing life's chaos fully and learning to balance it with all life throws your way. I have voluntarily left this review.

I think Colton and Winnie is my favorite Westbrook story.

I also think that Avery Maxwell writes some of the hottest love scenes I've ever had the pleasure to fan myself over.

Colton - he's not the immature, irresponsible, prank-loving (okay, yes, he does love pranks) person his family has labeled him. You really get to know why he's lived like Peter Pan in this story. I love the Love at First Sight, didn't even actually meet-cute. I am not such a big fan of the 'dragged through the journalistic mud' and then his brothers are constantly judgmental and on his a$$ about his behavior. But thank goodness Family always does end up having your back in the long run.

Winnie is lovely, but I wish she'd give a little less credence to bs stories being told to her by ex-friends who already have a history of being untrustworthy. But, we need the discord and the angst to get a great story in the end - and we do get a great story.

Another well-written, captivating love story from Avery. Read it, you won't regret it.

Colton was worth the wait bc his story is so full of heart. I loved that this playboy with a good time, Peter Pan reputation falls so hard for Winnie and her son Weston. I especially loved their meet cute with just the two of them in the airport. Something about that made their next meeting all the more believable. I love that Colton never gave up on her and Winnie’s fragile trust. I loved the way he took Weston under his wing and loved his as if he were hers. I loved that Weston was neurodivergent and that it didn’t matter to Colton. This book left me with the swooniest, happiest feeling, like everything is going to be ok. It was spicy and sweet, heartfelt while dealing with a lot of real issues. A great read!

The Westbrooks keep getting into my list of best books ever! Will Wendy be able to make Peter Pan wants to grown up and leave Neverland? You need to read this book.

This Small Town Romance will give you all the feelings. Is inevitable laugh out loud with those brothers (by blood and by choice) and all those amazing women besides them. My heart literally ache and broke, I cried too and smile like a dork hahaha. Some interesting twist and turns that makes the story better. Colton makes me swoon for him and at some point I was just like Winnie falling hard and fast. Wes, what can I say, he stole my heart just like Sadie and Tate. Seeing characters from others book is always appreciated (I love them). Great world building and amazing characters, all of them.

Avery you are the BEST in text messages in books. You are my 1-click author.

PS: Listening to One Little Kiss playlist while reading brings the book into another level and is magnificent.

PSS: next book is going to be EPIC!!!

One Little Kiss is book four of the Westbrook family ties series by Avery Maxwell. As a continuation of the Broken Hearts series, the Westbrook family is blended family -both by blood and those chosen. Each of the Westbrook brothers and adoptee brothers, have taken on roles of the late Mr. Westbrook who taught them to do what is right. In their own way, they have all tried to protect the family and the Westbrook Group, the billion dollar business their beloved dad left to them. Along the way, the boys have overcome personal demons and find their true loves.
Colton is the boy who never grew up (que : Kelsey Ballerini's "Peter Pan" ) . He is the prankster, presumed playboy and Pan to his family. They fail to see the truth of who and why he is the way he is.
Wendalyn Darling (please do not call her Wendy) is a girl he spent twelve hours with in an airport. They share ONE LITTLE KISS and then she ghosts him. Haunted by the girl who made him want to leave Neverland and grow up, he is shocked when he finds her in his own backyard .
Winne has had a rough time over the past two years since that night in the airport. Colton is determined to make her trust him, love him and be his forever.
I need to tell you that Avery Maxwell's books get better and better each time. I was mad at the brothers for the way they treated him, sad for her loss and struggles but very happy for the love he has for Winnie and Weston.
Weston is the most personal part of this story for the author. As a special education teacher, I understood the little boy's sensory issues. As a parent of a child with SPD, Maxwell gave another piece of her heart to Weston's character. Just like Hatty's anxiety, she wrote with compassion, realism and sensitivity to make the reader understand what is is to be the child and the parent of a child with a sensory disorder.
Grab your favorite beverage, a cozy spot and read how the Lost Boy finds his Wendy and so much more!

I have enjoyed all the books in this series. I like this author. My only dislike in every book in this series is this. When you say, for instance, "if that's what you think, you've got another "______" coming. "The word that fills in the blank is "THINK" not "THING"! Every time this author uses this phrase or a version of it she says they have another "thing" coming. Unless they are expecting a package or some other object it is not a thing. If you are saying you'll change your mind, then it's all about how someone is thinking, therefore they have another think coming! I've read other authors who say thing instead of think, and it's wrong for them too. If you want to write books learn how to say things correctly!
