Hazel

    Oh my gosh!!! This novella was so good and it does end on a cliffhanger but it's definitely worth it..
    This is a friends to lovers, best friends, one night stand plus more story in a novella!!! It might be short but it definitely has alot going on!!
    Dex has a secret..but what he doesn't realize is Hazel does too and when push comes to shove, Hazel will do anything to keep Dex safe..she loves him that much...
    I can't wait for book 2!!

    This book is a short little prequel to The Secrets Behind Us. I am so ready to read this when it comes out as this had be hooked from the beginning.

    Hazel and Dexter have been best friends for most of their lives. However Hazel has been feeling things that are more than best friends should feel the past couple years. At the fall carnival she is ready to tell Dexter exactly how she feels in hopes that he feels the same way. Dexter has been feeling the exact same way however he fears the secret he has been hiding from Hazel. After Hazel confesses her feelings Dexter, Dexter tells her that he is absolutely obsessed with her and things get steamy immediately. A Farris wheel and a corn maze later they are ready to take things back to Dexters apartment but Dexter is called away by his dad.

    There is little to no communication from Dexter in the week after the carnival and Hazel is getting really concerned so she goes to check on him. She finds him beaten up and resting in his bed. Dexter tells her that he was underground fighting but I reality he was punished by his father for being out with Hazel and not training. Hazel has been getting threatening text messages to stay away from Dexter. She ends up listening to them fears of what they will do to Dexter and her family. Dexter awakens to a note from Hazel saying she cant do this. She cant watch him hurt himself over and over again. Finally, that will always love him. Dexter is extremely hurt and tries to get her back but she changes her number and moves across the country.

    Five years later she is called back to Rose Valley as her mom has cancer. She is reluctant as she knows that Dexter Hernandez does not give second chances.

    I am so ready to read The Secrets Behind Us. I need to know what happens between Hazel and Dexter. Do you ever find out who is behind the threatening text messages? Will Dexter forgive Hazel? Will they fall back in love with each other? Will they have a HEA? I need to find out these answers.

    I received this book as an ARC read and this book was very short and to the point. It doesn’t pretend to be anything it’s not. It is definitely to its core a spicy small town romance. 🌹

    I wouldn’t pick this book up, if you’re looking for some drawn out scenes or a will they/won’t they situation. It is very straightforward in the beginning about what is going down, opening up with spicy dialogue and context at page 3. 😅

    Despite it being so short, the readers gets a pretty good description of who each character is and the background to the relationship. It can feel a little rushed at times, but overall it flows well. The spicy scenes are spicyyy. 🌶️

    It ends on a cliffhanger that leaves the reader confused and wanting to know more about what has happened and where all of this is going. Was the first 2 thirds of the book all for nothing? Or, will it all be explained in the sequel?👀

    Overall, it was a fast read that somehow didn’t seem like a fast read and I am eager for the release of the second book “The Secrets Behind Us” coming out June 17th!

    I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. This short novellas tell the story that will captivate readers and make you fall in love with the characters. This book introduces readers to Dexter and Hazel. Hazel and Dexter have been best friends. Feelings are changing and both are ready to take the plunge. Both are also a little scared to tell the other. They did not need to worry. Their friendship turned into more seamlessly.

    There is always something going on. Dexter fights for his father who is indebted to the Wolves. Yes, those Wolves. After a particularly brutal fight, Hazel came over and saw the aftermath. Can Hazel deal with the life Dexter leads? There is also another element that could make or break this couple. I'm telling you this book will have you hooked and begging the author for the next book in this series.

    A slow burn this is not! Fall Secrets is a childhood friends to lovers novella that sets the reader up for a larger story in the next book. My only disappointment is that I have to wait for the rest of the story and honestly that is why I gave it four stars. The story wraps up but ends with knowing the rest is yet to come. The spice was hot and heavy and early in the story. I can't wait to see how these two navigate the secrets and love between them!

    This book moves fast, hot and doesn’t stop. I read it in one sitting and am now circling to get the next. I loved the story and the characters are some of my favourite of most recently. I’m loving te start of this new series and am craving more, much, much more! I love this author and gobble up each and every one of her books, this book was no different. If you haven’t read any of her works, you are MISSING out! Grab one now! They aren’t long but they are packed full of goodness!
