- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2015Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI was honored to be a beta reader on this sequel to The Falling of Love, and I am honestly blown away by it. Marisa's writing style has really grown and she has found her voice, loud and strong.
This is not a stand alone, so be sure and read The Falling of Love first. Then grab a box of tissue, and a bottle of Dramamine, because you will be on an emotional rollercoaster ride from the first page to the last.
The Falling of Love ends with Ian showing up at Grace's table at a cafe in Paris, 5 years after she has last had any contact with him. Obviously we have already boarded the rollercoaster as we start this journey. Ms. Oldham does an incredible yet realistic job of portraying all the emotions that hit Grace after all this time. As the book synopsis alludes to, she finds a way to let him back in, but the fates don't plan for happily ever after to last long for this couple, no matter how intense the chemistry is between the two.
This begins a downward spiral for Grace which not even her best friend, Jaden, or her sister, Michelle, can save her from herself. The depths of depravity she finds will shock and sicken you, but again, it all is almost too realistic. Marisa has given all of her characters such depth and personality they truly feel like people you have known for years, shared the joys and sorrows with, rather than just words on paper (or your screen in this digital age.)
And just what is Ian's side of the story? Have he and Grace grown up enough to improve their communication skills? How does Grace's behavior affect him?
But it is not all doom and gloom. Rollercoasters have highs and lows and there are many heartouching good times as well. Again, so realistic, and as in life, sometimes it storms and sometimes the sun shines brightly.
Once again, Marisa leaves us with a major cliffhanger - I am already antsy for the publication of book 3! I am so wrapped up in all of these fantastically flawed characters she has created and shared with us.
For adults only for explicit sexual situations, violence, drug usage.
Very highly recommended. I will be first in line for anything she writes, she has that kind of rare ability to suck me. In whatever the subject matter may be.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2015Format: KindleVerified PurchaseMarisa Oldham has done it again! The Falling of Grace is the second book in The Falling Series and it's just as amazing as the first book. The story picks up right where the first book ended, which I loved. Ian is back and wants to talk to Grace about what happened to him all those years ago and seeks her forgiveness. Will Grace listen to what he has to say? This book was an emotional roller coaster. You will go from saying "AWW!" to "OMG!!!" to "Oh No!!" and back again. You will see a lot of growth with your favorite characters but you will also see some hit the lowest of lows. You might even find a new book boyfriend lol. I was sucked in from the first page and didn't want to put it down. Marisa Oldham does an amazing job making you feel physical emotions with this book. I laughed, I cried and I had my heart shattered. This book will leave you with a book hangover that will take time to recover from. You will absolutely love it. I can't recommend this book enough.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2013Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI enjoyed the Falling of Grace very much. It is even better for me than The Falling of Love, book 1. This book was well written and quick to get through. I loved Grace in this book and enjoyed Ian's character much more as well. My favorite character still has to be Michelle though, she is quirky and lovable. Great read and enjoyable to sit, relax, and watch Grace Hathaway fall in love.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2015Format: KindleThis book starts exactly where book one leaves off. Grace is a successful model/artist, and Michelle a successful photographer. Ian comes see Grace in France.
After all the drugs and sex that Ian admits to Grace still initiates sex with Ian. She slaps him a a few times, rightly so, but they have UNPROTECTED sex. I can't get my head around her stupidity. He used drugs intravenously and had unprotected with groupies yet she lets him back in as though nothing happened.
Ian discovers that Jaden is withholding secrets from both himself and Grace, and a heated blow up follows. This is a good point in the book.
I didn't like this book as much as book one, because just as Grace is getting comfortable being who she is, she lets Ian back into heel life and in her bed. She seem like she's smarter than that. I'm guessing that's why the book is named as so.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I am reviewing this for Kylie's Fiction Addiction.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 5, 2015Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAmazing amazing book, I've loved The Falling series and can't wait for book 3. The twists and turns are present and keep you engrossed, you never want to put the book down, it's just that good. You cry, you sigh and just plan wish for a happy ending. My heart craves for these two lovers to be together, I want them happy, healthy and full of the love I know they share. Sighs heavily, I just want Grace to stop and listen to Ian for a sec. I know he holds the key to her heart forever. I will and have recommended these books to all of my friends. Loved it, wanted it to continue, waiting with bated breath for book 3.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2015Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIan and Grace continue...or end...their love story in this second book of the Falling series!! So much love, so much promise ...and then in one instance it all changes!! Ian is trapped in . a relationship he does not want, and Grace is trapped within her anger and her broken trusts and thousands of lies! Again, Marisa's writings do not disappoint! I have laughed with these characters, mourned with and for these characters, and even gotten mad at these characters when they made stupid choices! Even through all the ups and downs,.I still hold out hope that love conquers all!!! This book exceeded my expectations and is a must read sequel! Absolute perfection Marisa!! Now bring on book 3!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ian and Grace
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI love Grace and Ian - the storyline hooks you in, feeling everything that they go through. This picks up after Book One. There are definitely some moment when you think did they just do that. You see Ian and Grace work though thing and try to work out their relationship with everything that has happened.
Grace is speechless seeing Ian at the coffee shop, but that soon turn to anger when she also learns that Jayden knew where Ian was the whole time, and denied it . Ian is persistent in getting Grace to listen to him explaining that he wants her forever but needs to return to pack up his house.
Grace can’t wait for Ian to return to Paris and decides to go to him, when she reaches his home she is speechless and ends up at Jayden’s. Grace starts to go off the rails going out every night and ends up with Jayden and her sister having to pick her up from hospital.
Ian is still searching for Grace in Paris, while Grace is in the states and turns to painting and meets a very attractive Gallery owner who is persistent about dating her.
The ending finishes with a twist and can’t wait to read the next book.

4.0 out of 5 stars I wish it would end it differently
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseGrace irritated me a lot . Instead of facing Ian and talk things out she was running all over the place. It was a lack of communication. If she had love him so much as she claimed she would have acted differently. I really fell for Ian I think he really tried he just wasn't strong enough. This story didn't end up with happy ending for me. I hope the story will continue.i hardly wait .

4.0 out of 5 stars The story continues...
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI enjoyed this book more than the first, the characters are more developed as they are getting older and it's in the adult world too.
Grace and Ian's relationship takes on more depth but their problems seem to grow with it. What starts as an idyllic relationship becomes something toxic. Broken hearts and broken lives abound. But friendships change with the course of time and new bonds are forged.
Looking forward to book 3 now.
