FRIST, I dont think there is a man she could write that I wouldn't fall in love with. It took me list then 8 hours to read. Luna makes a world that sucks you in and you don't want to escape from. Now onto the story, frist you have Nikolai Volkov, who is a single dad just trying to make the world he lives in safer. And who said he will never love again. Then you have Mila, who is just trying to safe her family. She is a strong-willed, who don't need help from anyone so she thinks. This book has it all.

    M, absolutely fierce (and bratty) FMC. Nikolai Volkov, grumpy single dad. Then you add mafia, spice, secrets, action, Nikolais adorable daughter and there you have it🩷

    Nikolai, huge grump and level-headed man might brutally ✨unalive✨ people when needed, but then he gets home to his daughter and the softie Niki - mode turns on🩵

    M, of course I like her. She would do anything for what's left of her family, and she does exactly that. She just didn't expect to find herself a family with Nikolai and Elena while she is at it. The amount of love she has for Elena from the start got me🥹

    Elena is such a precious little girl! She is amazing, and all her interactions with Niki, M or any other family member is the most adorable thing ever.

    Then to the side characters, omg Alexei is hilarious. He is so stupid I love him. And Lara, oh god her book is gonna hurt😭 Mikhail still stays mysterious, and Jax keeps clicking that tongue piercing every chance he gets. And the hacker king Enzo starting to tease his story too.

    Overall, loveable characters, great plot (the anticipation when I was waiting for the secrets to be spilled, sheesh), fun moments and not so fun moments. Would recommend🖤

    Nikolai was the best part of the story! Luna does a great job of writing the MMCs in her stories. Mila was a bit of a whirlwind but I can tell we will be seeing more of her in the next two books. I can’t wait to see how she fits into the Volkov family. She is the one FMC that truly is about this life. She’s a ride or die for those she loves and I love that.

    Our FMC is a bad ass. Her brother gets taken by none other than Nikolai and Mikhail's dad. He wants his diamonds back so he asks her to use any means necessary to get them from his sons.

    Once she finds Niki the tale of enemies to lovers back to enemies and lastly lovers ensures. This is a wild ride and keeps you on your toes.

    Kai and Mila are the ultimate bad ass couple.. on their own they are bad ass and their loyalty to their families and those they love is something I could relate. I felt their connection was so out of nowhere I just didn’t connect with them. It’s like they barely interacted and then from one day to another they loved each other.. the story was not bad I just wished we got a little more of them two together.

    I really don't think there will ever be a Luna Mason book I don't like. This book was everything. First, we have Nikolai, who was married but lost his wife, leaving him to be single dad to his sweet daughter Elena. You could just feel the love he has for her coming off the pages in waves. It reminds me of the relationship I have with my father. On the outside, he's grumpy and heartless, but with Elena, he's a big ole teddy bear. Then you have Mila, who will do whatever it takes to protect her loved ones. She is a total bad@$$ and always knows what she wants. It's not easy for her as you can imagine to have that war going on of your head vs. your heart. I loved how much Mila cared about Elena even though she didn't know her for that long. Nikolai and Mila were such the perfect match for each other, and their chemistry and connection were amazing. I totally fell in love with these 2, and I'm so excited to see what is next from Luna. Her writing is amazing, and the way she portrays her characters is everything. The plot, the characters, the spice, the whole dang book was amazing!!!

    Mila, is a fearless badass. She’s been tasked to retrieve stolen Diamonds in order to save her brother. Going undercover, she worms her way into the home of Nikolai.     After the emotional wringer we were put through in the first instalment of the Beneath the Secrets series, it has been nice to have an action packed book this time round for Nikis story. The stoic sensible Volkov who has a heart of gold underneath definitely needed a strong woman to be his match and he certainly found it in Mila.
    Falling for the enemy is never a good idea especially when you’ve been hired to steal from them, but only a kick ass FMC who’s sole purpose is to protect her family would have the motivation and determination to see a job through.
    These two together are a lit match in the beginning, neither wanting to give in to feelings and desire. By the end they are a full on inferno, “the couple that kills together stays together”.

    SPOILERS AHEAD:
    This was a highly anticipated read for me. After Chaos, I knew Nikolai had a story and that it was gonna be good! Well, Caged did not disappoint.

    Mila/Melissa is tasked with retrieving goods for a very dangerous man. she hoped it would be a quick in and out job. Especially because this dangerous man is holding her brother as leverage, and is torturing him a little each day that she is gone. She did not anticipate that her heart would be on the line.

    Nikolai is a grumpy single dad. he lost his wife a few years ago at the hands of a person who should want to protect his children, not ruin them with tragedy and pain. He is devoted to his sweet little girl, Elena and wills top at nothing to protect her and keep her away from his lifestyle. He is Jax's brother-in-law, Mikhail and Lara's siblings and Alexei may not be related by blood, but is considered a brother as well. He is also the one in possession of the goods Mila/Melissa is hired to retrieve.

    Mila plays the part of a damsel in distress, Melissa, hoping this will bring her close enough to Nikolai and get the goods. However he has his guard up and is not easy to crack. Until one day, Melissa allows a little bit of Mila's dark side to be exposed:

    "Before I know what I’m doing, my hand is laced around her throat and her back is against the wall. “Is this what you wanted?” I whisper against her lips.
    “Are you going to be a good girl for me?” he says with a smirk…. “I’m not a good girl, Nikolai.” …. “There’s a difference between being a good girl, and my good girl. You’ll soon learn that.”

    Elena is smitten with Mila. Nikolai falls hards for Mila as he sees how much she cares bout and for his daughter. his daughter's happiness means everything to him, and he hasn't seen her smile and laugh the way she does when she's with Mila, in a very long time.

    They begin a passionate relationship, however the guilt slowly eats away at Mila. She knows that once Nikolai finds out the truth about her, he could very well kill her. The opportunity arrises to retrieve the goods. she knows this could be the end of their relationship, and wuite possibly her life. but how could she give up on her brother?

    Nikolai learns of the betrayal in a violent way.
    the revelation rips his heart into a million pieces. a heart he had guarded, caged, so heavily. After losing his wife, he didn't think he'd ever be able to love again. He took a risk with Mila and now he wishes he never had laid eyes on her.

    "How can you hate someone so violently, yet love them so passionately at the same time?"

    Without giving too much away, a series of events leads Nikolai to realize that not everything is as it seems and Mila has made sacrifices on his and his daughter's behalf. he learns the truth about who she is and how she feels and he is determined get her back into his life.

    “Everyone comes into your life to teach you a lesson. You broke into my mine to tear my heart from its cage and claim it as your own. You taught me how to love, Mila. And I don’t want to stop.”

    Nikolai and Mila's story is intense, passionate and raw.
    Nikolai's experience of grief is no where near as tragic as Jax's in Chao, however you are given a picture of the heartache and pain he experienced when he lost his wife. It's beautifully sad. He honours his late wife in in little ways with big meaning. His love for Elena is so sweet. he is firm yet gentle with her.

    We are also given more insights into Mikhail, Enzo, Lara and Alexei, and a new person is introduced, who i have a sinking feelings is far more important that it lead on in the book.

    As always, Luna Mason delivers an incredible story and i cannot wait for the next instalment of this series. September feels like a long ways away...

    This book honestly gives off the best Mr and Mrs Smith energy. I was grinning, toe curling, kicking my feet at the scenes and passion that emerges from these pages. The way these characters completely developed and grew with each other was beautiful. Nikolai soft only for his daughter we see change and become himself and stronger again. Mila learning to trust and lean on Niki; not just relying on herself in times of crisis and trouble. They’re both seriously amazingly written characters. Luna always outdoes herself.
