Review
"Readers seeking a women's fiction story that is delightfully evocative and gently compelling will relish the move that Tess makes and the discoveries that stem from it in Feathers in the Sand, a novel which should be in library collections of contemporary women's fiction." ~ MidWest Book Reviews
"Anne Marie Bennett creates a moving story filled with candid introspection, revelations, and several unexpected twists and turns." ~ MidWest Book Reviews
Anne Marie Bennett writes a heartwarming novel that beautifully portrays love and new beginnings. The TV show "Gilmore Girls" is referenced multiple times throughout the book, and both the show and this book highlight inter-generational relationships. The mother and daughter relationship portrayed in the TV show is the kind of relationship Tess has always dreamed of for her and her daughter . . . until life gets in the way. ~ Sublime Book Reviews

- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI was swept away by the lovely characters in this story and the coastal setting as well. Tess Gilmore is a single mother with a lot on her plate. She has a job that is unfulfilling and her boss has no respect for her. Her children sure do keep her on her feet and pull her in many directions. But, then Tess hears from her aunt Kit who lives on the coast of Maine, where Tess had spent her summers years ago. Kit tells Tess of an employment opportunity and suggests a perfect place to live. How can she resist? They say goodbye to Connecticut and head to Seahaven, Maine. This sets the scene for lots of adventure, drama, heartache, but also joy and maybe even romance. Jump into the novel and I believe you will will be enchanted with the town and all the fun, quirky characters who live there. I truly enjoyed this story and am happy to know that there is another book on the horizon.

A charming book about second chances and everyday life. A mother raising a child on her own is no easy feat. Add a pre-teen, an older brother, and a job that is not fulfilling you have a pretty good start of a great read. The characters in this book are real people who I would love to be around. The backdrop for this story is a small town on the coast of Maine. If you love feel good books this is one for you. Human nature always surprises me and this read is no exception. Looking forward to the next in the series!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is a heartwarming book that captivated me from the first page!
Single mom Tess Gilmore works hard to provide for her two children. She often works late and she even took night classes so she could advance in her career. When her son unexpectedly joins the army, Tess begins to wonder if perhaps she relied on him too much to help her with her younger daughter and chores around the house
Determined to grow closer to her young daughter, Tess moves to a seaside town in Maine where mother and daughter struggle but eventually work through their differences as they forge a life in the new town. Tess also finds her first love again.
I really enjoyed the drama in this story. It is told in third person and alternates between Kate and her daughter, Eva. Read this if you love heartwarming stories of second chances, mother/daughter stories, and family drama.
Thank you to @annemariebennett520

- Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2022Format: KindleThis is the story of Tess Gilmore her daughter Eva and son Micah. Tess is a single mom trying to make life workout for her kids. She has put herself through school to get a decent job that she hates and barely has anytime with her kids.
Then her Aunt Kit tells her about a job interview she got her in Seahaven at a dental office. She would be perfect for this job, but her son is graduating and her daughter isn’t happy with her. She’s scared if she makes such a huge change things won’t work out. But Seahaven was where she had the most wonderful summer when she was 15 and had a young love Luca.
Tess gets the job and moves to Seahaven with her daughter. It’s a small town where Tess and Eva start making quick friends and feeling very at home. There is a lot of ups and downs and unexpected love.
This was a good hearted story and I loved all the Gilmore Girls nods. It was a small town similar to Stars Hollow, and all of the characters were quirky and lovable. It was a good story about a mother and daughter reconnecting and just believing you are strong enough to do what’s right for yourself and your family.
If you like Gilmore Girls, sweet stories, small town and reunion tropes. If you are a mother to a daughter. This book is for you!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI highly recommend this book! I devoured it in two days, mostly on my deck in the beautiful weather. It was such a feel good story. I adore the characters and am so happy this is going to be a series because I want MORE!!! The relationships between the characters got so ingrained on my heart. I wanted to be in the story with them. At their get-togethers. In their conversations. Their personalities are ones you think about long after the story is over. Anne Marie has a way with her language that's so memorable. The references in the story (Anne of Green Gables, Gilmore Girls, Nancy Drew, Emily Dickinson quote, Nina Simone song, etc.) are so relatable. I just can't say enough wonderful things about this book. I LOVED that storyline a lot. I want to move to Maine now. LOL. READ. THIS. BOOK.
