Fifth Avenue Fling: A Grumpy Boss Romantic Comedy (Billionaires In Charge) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 13,838 ratings

I’m nannying for the grumpiest single billionaire dad in Manhattan... and he’s one outburst away from firing me.

I need a visa – like, yesterday. I’m not ready to leave the bright lights of New York for my seaside hometown in Ireland.

So, when the opportunity arises to become a live-in nanny maid for a billionaire single dad, I jump at the chance. How hard can it be, right?

Harder than I thought.

The first time I meet Killian Quinn, I get kicked out of his fancy hotel.

The second time we cross paths, the guy looks ready to slam the door in my face.

Yet, by some miracle (call it the luck of the Irish), he agrees to give me a chance. He’s desperate too.

But when Killian makes it clear that I’m the worst nanny maid in all of Manhattan, I’m one wrong move away from being deported.

So why is it when his eyes flash with anger, it feels like there’s something hotter than his temper under there?

And more importantly — can I take the heat?

Fifth Avenue Fling is a standalone, hot romantic comedy with a grumpy, billionaire single dad and his sunshine nanny.

I’m Rosa, a contemporary romance author based in the UK.

I love crafting stories about strong, sassy heroines who aren’t afraid to speak their minds. These fierce ladies are paired with alpha heroes who are as rugged as they are emotionally guarded.

I have a weakness for specific tropes, such as billionaire alphas with egos the size of their bank accounts, age gap romances that show love defies age, workplace romances that give “office politics” a whole new meaning, enemies-to-lovers stories that make you want to lock the characters in a room until they sort out their feelings, and grumpy-meets-sunshine matchups proving that even the most brooding of men can melt with the right woman by their side.

When I’m not lost in my writing world, you can find me roaming the countryside with my own Happily-Ever-After guy (who refuses to read my books, likely worried he’ll see himself in them, or even worse, not see himself at all) looking for a great hike with a pub at the end.

My books are available in English, German and Polish. Coming in French and Portuguese 2025

This book had so much of all the things AND IT WORKED!

This book had so much of all the things AND IT WORKED!
Fifth Avenue Fling was unique, authentic, steamy, funny, and relatable. Rosa managed to pull together multiple tropes and make them all work PLUS she showcased and humanized the fact that it’s not always perfect in the bedroom, that intimacy is not the same for everyone and I loved it. Also, total bonus points for using such a unique (for us Americans) character name as Clodagh, and even extra double bonus points for showing us how to pronounce it right at the beginning. All in all, fantastic book and I am looking forward to reading many more of Rosa’s books in the future. Well done! #huntsmanpiegate #soapgate #liquidizedalmonds

Like Lucas' other female characters, Clodagh is young, real, very earthy, and very down to earth, reminiscent of Bridget Jones. In New York City from Donegal, Ireland, she's staying with her friend Orla in Queens and working in an Irish bar. She had a job prospect that would have given her a working visa but it fell through, and now she has to go back to Ireland. That's the setup for her meeting a suit at the bar, who sees her and, being desperate to get a temporary nanny / domestic assistant for his boss, Killian Quinn, until the full-time one returns from leave, gives her a chance and tells her to show up at Killian Quinn's office.

Clodagh is elated for this opportunity but a little worried because she has an arrest record. Anyway, she scrapes through the background check, relieved that her past record hasn't shown up. She and her friend Orla celebrate with many drinks at a fancy hotel. They're really tying it on and she's stolen the drink glass as a souvenir and soaps and toiletries from the bathroom, as one does in fancy hotels. She stops to look at some really sexy lingerie in one of the store windows in the hotel, hears someone come behind her she thinks is Orla, and asks what she thinks. She turns around, bumps into Killian Quinn, a widower with a teenage daughter who's out with a date at one of the hotels he owns. She drops her bag, breaks that glass, and the toiletries roll out.

At the interview, of course he recognizes her as the toiletry thief and does not have a very good impression of her. But he takes her on probation. The salary and the perks are excellent, and Clodagh loves her in-house apartment. But she has just one night to familiarize herself with the job and a huge binder of instructions from the housekeeper. This is a bit of a problem because Clodagh is dyslexic but she has ways to accommodate it. It just takes her longer.

Killian is suspicious but he's also curious about her. His work laptop is hooked up to his house security. He opens it to check on her and sees her in his bedroom opening his night table, one of the "forbidden" zones. He's indignant he speaks to her, like God, his voice coming from the speakers. He's definitely attracted to her because she's very pretty and very sexy, but not in a conventional way. But he doesn't like it. His brother, Connor sees this and is very amused.

When Killian gets home he almost fires her for that infraction, but gives her a second chance. Clodagh does whatever she has to do in a very logical manner to do her job, even though Killian gives her some challenges. Soon she makes friends with Sam, one of his security people who live next door.

Killian's wife was murdered and he thinks it's his fault. So he's in no way looking for anything more than a transitory relationship or someone on his arm to date for social reasons. He really resents his growing attraction to Clodagh. After they sleep together he backs away, which makes her feel pretty bad and rather used. But Killian can't help coming back and being curious about her life. And he sees how good she is with his daughter. But he's afraid to do anything to get close to someone. So they have a rocky road forward with starts and stops, mainly because of him. But it's fun reading how they finally get together.

The insta attraction seems inevitable, but it's not insta love or insta sex. And it's really nice to see how they change each other and how Clodagh's presence makes his daughter's life better. Along the way, there are some funny scenes, with a hookup who is obsessed with her and shows up at her home, a yoga class that Killian and his daughter attend, and a bathroom scene.

What works with these two people from different social strata is that their backgrounds are more alike than not. Killian, a first generation American, grew up in Queens and lived there with his wife and daughter until he started amassing his wealth. His Uber wealthy lifestyle was built on top of that.

I love these romances and I only wish there were more. There are two male characters, Killian's brother and his business partner, that I hope will have their own books.

One thing I have been noticing with this author is that they set up for something big and could be dramatic only for it to be kinda lacking and move on quickly. If they really leaned into the dramatic part make it go dark for a minute and added 100 more page I would have ate it up. It feels like a build up only to shy away from it. Other than that it could have been a 5 star read. Banter is incredible, dual pov, good plot, incredible writing. Lean into the dramatics to make it even better. FMC could have been taken for a minute. Let Sam shine helping getting her back. She could have been unharmed. Let MMC be all alpha and do what it took to get her back then let him spiral. Could have leaned into more and I would have still read 100 more pages.

The h is described as sunshine , but I didn’t read her as sunshine more jumpy, nervous. Ya all know how a h is to a grumpy H. I enjoyed the the read as a one time read. So I rated a 4 star. But it was lacking for me a lot that matters for me. There wasn’t munch interaction between her and his daughter who was soon to be 13 and she was there to be her nanny among other. I didn’t see the big deep bonding I was hoping for her. And how the H and h fell in love when they never did any romantic stuff or spending much time together then the s*x part. They only connect during those moment. They hardly spend time together not enough . And of course the H is a bit back and forth but at least this one wasn’t manwhore . The HEA was for my liking but I wish to see more in their future , maybe more kids. I am a sucker for that.
