- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI absolutely loved Flirt by Adriana Locke; it is an incredible fake relationship love story. It is the first book in her new Carmichael Family series. Adriana Locke continues to prove that she is an amazing storyteller. I could not put Flirt down and I loved moment on every page. Who does not love hot sexy men, strong females, loving families, and friends, who always support one another? I really enjoy how the book is told in the first person from perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. Flirt is a fake relationship love story and is filled with heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. I love the lighter moments where I find myself smiling and laughing out loud. My favorite moments are the ones that pull at my heartstrings that cause me to sigh, as I read the heartbreaking moments. Flirt is filled with such moments, and with so much emotion. It is filled with all those things that we have come to love and expect in a love story, Adriana Locke did not disappoint, especially with the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. Flirt is the story of Moss Carmichael, superintendent of the renovation team and Brooklyn “Brooke” Bailey, the lead designer for his team at Laguna Home, his family’s company. Brooke is searching a fake boyfriend to take home to her Grandmother Honey’s eighty-fifth birthday party. After having lunch with her best friend in Kismet Beach, Jovie Reynolds, Brooke accidentally posts her want ad on Social, a social media platform and her account explodes. After a difficult conversation with her mother, Brooke decides to meet one of the anonymous responders to her ad and agrees to meet them at Slade House. Moss shows up at Slade House expecting to meet his mother for dinner, unbeknownst to him that his mother and brothers have set him up with Brooke. Brooke has a difficult relationship with her mother and her family, her aunt is currently dating her ex-husband Geoff. Moss agrees to the fake relationship with Brooke. Conversation between Brooke and Moss flows so easily, I love that both Brooke and Moss share secrets with one another that they have not shared with anyone before, especially the secrets that they Brooke shares about her family. Brooke suffers from insecurities because of her family and is hoping to find someone who will love her as she is and is looking for forever love. Moss on the other hand is not looking for a relationship and does not plan on ever telling a woman that he loves her. I love Moss calls Brooke, Brookie, and all the other nicknames that he uses toward Brooke. I love the chemistry between Brooke and Moss. As Brooke and Moss spend time together, things change between them, neither one is willing to admit their true feelings for one another. Some of their conversations between Brooke and Moss are truly heartbreaking. I love the surprise birthday gift that Moss gave to Honey. A heart-breaking plot twist occurs at Brooke’s grandmother Honey’s birthday party, which changes everything between Brooke and Moss. I love the heart-to-heart conversation that Brooke and Moss have with Honey, and the heart-to-heart conversation that Moss has with his mother following his breakup with Brooke. I loved that Flirt is a more than just a romance, there are issues that both Brooke and Moss are facing that need to be resolved. I love how the storylines get so beautifully resolved. I love how the epilogue is the perfect ending to their love story. Flirt is filled with poignant and bittersweet moments as well as plot twists. I love the characters and the family dynamic in Flirt the characters feel like family and friends. I enjoyed all the interactions between the Carmichael siblings, it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. I loved all the characters in Flirt, and I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series. Who does not love family and friends that always have each other’s backs? I thoroughly enjoyed Flirt, who does not love a fake relationship love story. Highly recommend this incredible love story and am so looking forward to reading the other books in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWe meet the Carmichael family, and I love them. Moss is one of the many Carmichael brothers. Brooke (Brooklyn) works for the company the Carmichael parents own, and she and Moss are described as friends, but I would classify them as work friends. They don’t hang out, and at one point they mention the only time they texted outside of work hours was actually still tangentially related to work things.
After a series of events, he agrees to go to a family event with her. Her family really is the worst. Side note-I appreciate that Adriana Locke doesn’t try to magically redeem them in the epilogue, and instead just lets them be awful.
I loved the interactions with Moss and his family, Brooke and his family, Brooke and her BFF.
There is a 3AB, and it’s annoying. I understand why she’s upset but she’s also being amazingly selfish and for someone who claims to love isn’t thinking about that person at all. She more or less redeems herself but it wasn’t a good look on her. As far as him, for as cool as his family is, there should have been some therapy when he was 17, FFS.
Can’t wait for the other brothers’ books.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseBrooke wants to meet a handsome, charming and sexy guy to pretend to have feelings for her. And must have a car & A job... This is the ad she post on social. She got many hits from that post. She was looking for a guy to take her to her grandma 80 th birthday party. Her ex husband is in a relationship with her aunt. ( I know that just crazy) Finally after being set up by friends, she starts getting to know Moss. Moss is a Carmichael and he is really interested in being with Brooke. He starts to woo her and it take off that's just whatever is needed to make Brooke snoooy. Anyways this story wss absolutely awesome and definitely delicious to read, it had everything you'll ever need in a story.. So give yourself a break and read it... It's just awesome and funny!

I’m excited to read about the other brothers. The whole Carmichael family is hilarious! Banks and Mad are awesome therapists lol They’ve got my vote hahaha

My review for the book:
I really enjoyed this audiobook! I honestly think the female narrator could've just read the book on her own. She had great voices for the different characters.
Brooke is a recently divorced thirty-year-old woman working as an interior architect. Her mother is atrocious and always sets high life expectations for her. Basically no matter what she does, she's never good enough. Brooke's adorable grandmother, Honey, is celebrating her 85th birthday via a giant party and Brooke needs a date. She can't possibly go alone because her ex will also be there, along with her awful mother. Brooke starts getting desperate and devises a plan to post an ad for a date, which accidentally gets posted online. In comes her hot co-worker Moss to save the day. Fake dating at its finest! They already know each other well from working side by side, he's handsome, he comes from a great family... it's perfect, right?

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for me...
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is a sweet, swoony and romantic love story.
A love story between two people who have given up the idea of relationship or love.
Two people who have been so hurt in their past relationships that they would rather be alone than commit to a relationship or new love.
Of course, it didn't work in their way ;-), but until it did, they had a dramatic, heartbreaking, and raw way to go.
The audiobook was amazingly executed. The narrators Lance Greenfield and CJ Bloom are wonderful.
If you're looking for a light, sweet, and romantic love story, this is a book for you ❤️
It doesn't worked for me.
I couldn't connect with the characters, but I'm sure it just wasn't a story for me.
I love this author's books, but this was my least favorite of all her books so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book Exceeds 5 Stars!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThere aren’t enough stars to give this book the rating it deserves! It was one of the most perfect romcoms I’ve ever read; it had me laughing out loud at all the different characters’ antics, and also smiling at the fluff between the main couple, wiping my tears at their pain, and rooting for them throughout it all. This book was written amazingly well from start to finish, never having any dull moments and somehow making every moment more special than the last. This is the first time I’ve read anything from this author and it’ll absolutely not be the last. I enjoyed every part of it!
Thirty year old Brooke is not looking forward to visiting her family and having to deal with their ridiculous expectations, and with an unavoidable party coming up and limited time to prepare herself for it, she can’t help but panic. The only saving grace is her family’s obsession with appearances, so her plan to use a stranger as a convenient date and buffer from the nastiest of their comments is genius—except for when that stranger turns out to be her business partner and best friend, Moss. For the two and a half years she’s known him, Moss has acted as the biggest flirt she’s ever met, but despite their playfulness, they get along surprisingly well and she knows she can always rely on him to get the job done. It’s risky to pretend to be in love with him, but with the party and her family in mind, Brooke has no other choice. Plus, she gets to pretend to date the man she’s been crushing on for years, and if his willingness to help is anything to go off of, he doesn’t mind one bit.
As things progress and both Brooke and Moss get deeper into their feelings for the other, old insecurities come into play, but with a bond like theirs, nothing will stop them from holding onto their happiness—not even themselves.
This author truly did something special with this book. I'm so impressed with it, and so grateful she has a long backlog so I can read more stories like this one. The plot was fantastic, moving at a perfect pace to keep the character-driven story interesting and making sure the tension wasn’t rushed so it had its moment to shine. The buildup to the party was full of so much hilarity, and a dash of spice, that I never felt like the book was dragging on its way to the climax; I was just enjoying things as they were happening and trusted the author to make everything work out in the end. This book was all about love in its different forms so I adored how the MCs both got to share that together by going from best friends to romantic partners, and also got to experience love from the other people in their lives.
The relationship between the MCs was adorable and touching in all its stages, and the honesty and acceptance between them made this book that much sweeter to read. I loved the dual POVs not only because it gave a deeper look into the main characters, but also because it allowed readers into their lives apart from their romance, showing the importance of relationships between parents, siblings, and friends as well.
I also want to add a trigger warning for those who want to avoid books with narcissistic family members included. This book has a lot of dialogue revolving around and directly interacting with the FMC’s narcissistic family, and unfortunately the parts with the possible triggers wouldn’t be able to be skipped without ruining the plot.
All in all, this book was a fantastic romcom that I will definitely reread in the future. I loved reading the journey Brooke and Moss went on to get their happy ending, and I’m looking forward to reading more books in this series for the rest of the family’s happy endings!

5.0 out of 5 stars Flirting, laughter and lots of love
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved this story and the whole Carmichael family. Lots of love and laughter, kept me reading and laughing throughout.
Moss is the picture-perfect boyfriend and a relentless flirt, only that's the last thing he wants, and Brooke has sworn off any future relationships after her divorce. These two were best friends and co-workers with a ton of flirting thrown in, by not only Moss but his brothers too - I loved all the banter and family wind-ups the brothers got into.
When Brooke needs a fake boyfriend to take home to her vile family, his brothers set him up but Moss volunteers because he just can't picture anyone else to help her the way he can. The fake bit doesn't last long though as these two have some amazing chemistry that neither can ignore. Nothing is that easy though and both have issues from their past that they need to deal with and not surprisingly they pop up just when you think they have everything sorted, just to throw a spanner in the works.
I really enjoyed reading about these two they truly were best friends who loved each other. I will be reading more from this series as I want to find out where all the brothers all end up.
