The Forbidden Wolf King (Kings of Avalier Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 6,298 ratings

Axil Moon broke my heart when I was fifteen and I’ve dreamed of getting revenge ever since.
So when he becomes the king of all Wolven and summons me to compete for his hand in
marriage in the deadly Queen Trials, I gladly accept. I want nothing more than to defeat the
competition and leave him cold and alone when I slam the bedroom door in his face every
night.

Axil Moon will regret the day he thought he could discard me and get away with it.

But the Axil I expect isn’t the one waiting for me. This grown Axil is different from the teenage boy I loved. This Axil begs me to believe it was never his choice to leave me, and my heart is torn. Now I have to try and stay alive in order to see what could be between us, but all the while there is an enemy in our midst and war on our border that could overturn the world as I know it, and all I can do is fight to keep that world alive.

The Forbidden Wolf King is book FOUR of FOUR in the Kings of Avalier series. It's a full-length standalone fantasy romance that focuses on the Wolf King Axil Moon.

Angsty but with a beautiful ending
This has been a journey. Even for me as the reader. The kings and queens of Avalier are amazing and I love that I got to see each King find his Queen and reconnect with his friends. These books are about Love, Loss, Loyalty and how healing is hard and it’s perfectly ok to take your time in doing so. And sometimes it can’t be done without the love and support of those who mean the most to you. This final book was just as magnificent as the previous 3. King Axil and Zara were sweethearts as teenagers. Until his brother forbade them from being together or Axil ever seeing her again. But now Axil is king and the Queen trials have commenced. One dominant female from each pack is sent to compete in these trials and the strongest she-wolf will be queen and rule at Axil’s side. Aside from the nasty human Queen of Nightfall this story would be complete without a villainous wolf who would do anything to get Zara out of the picture. Once the trials are over all of the kings and queens of Avalier still must take in the evil human Queen and in doing so the kings are reminded of simpler times and reconnect and their queens have all made life long friends. As have their heirs. This book is just as adventurous and magical as the others but so much more heartfelt and don’t even get me started on the HEA for this series as a whole. It’s beautiful and I hope we get to revisit these kingdoms later on. Possibly when their heirs are grown?

This was a great well rounded ending to the series. The stories were about rebuilding friendships and starting new friendships, the importance of found family and love. Zara is such a strong character and I loved how she grew into her feeling which I felt strengthened her character. I loved the other queens and their immediate loyalty.
I also enjoyed that the description of the war was overly played out and how concisely it ended. I would love one more book ending the new night fall kings story. 😉

We hit the grand finale with King Axil and Zara’s story !!
If you’ve been following along then you know the 3 kings, Dragon King Drae, Elf King Raife, and Fae King Lucien have been working towards contacting the Wolf King Axil for his help to combine forces and take out the Nightfall Queen.
Axil is having the Queen Trails, where the most dominant female wolf from each pack fights for his hand in marriage.
Zara and Axil have a history that did not end well. But little did Zara know, that while she was hating Axil for how he left, he was loving her everyday.
It all comes together !! What a wonderful story !

I absolutely loved the first 3 books. I feel like this one was written by someone else entirely. Like the book doesnt flow with the others. It wasnt like the others. The enemies to loves felt rushed and not really any enemies just a big misunderstanding that was cleared up quick. Was also disappointed with the way the war ended... very anticlimactic and again felt rushed... the book had alot of potential especially after the past 3 that i gave 5 stars too.

4 books of interesting worlds and plots. All included are family, love, heartache, war, friendship, overcoming childhood trauma to grow into adults and leaders, relationships that wind from new love to treachery, dismay and joy, to strong mutual trust. Politics and fantastical kingdoms that kept me reading and satisfied my imagination. I have not read such a series for quite a while but I was looking in the wrong genre?
For young and older adults as thre is quarter pages of sexual content but such a relief of not having to flip through 9 pages of explicit sex . Trying not to miss any p,ot writings threaded through those pages. Sorry, I just am tired of the former in pursuit of exciting passionate storytelling.

I like this story very much! It had a fellowship and evil monarch and surprised twist. And most of all I love story! Or four... I've read most of the other clean books prior to reading the story so it brought things full circle. And can't wait to read another one of her stories. Miss Stone is an intriguing writer. Enjoy!

Reviewed in Australia on July 29, 2023
This book was just incredible! It was an amazing story in its own right but also the perfect conclusion to the Kings of Avalier series.

I LOVED Zara and Axil and the way their relationship developed. There were so many amazing characters throughout this whole book. I read this story in less than a day, it was so well written and I couldn’t put it down.

Zara is incredibly strong, a fierce and dominant warrior and a caring, loving and loyal family member and friend. Axil was an amazing MMC but I don’t want to say too much about him because it’ll ruin the story.

I’m glad I bought my own copies because this is a book and series that I’ll reread again and again.

Thank you Leia Stone for an incredible story.

I love Zara and Axil, in fact I liked each couple of this series 😊. I like how the queens all became friends like the kings did during their childhood. Absolutly love the story and then the ending! Just wow! This series was amazingly good and The Forbidden Wolf King was as good as the others with love and action and awesome characters!
