Review
Ms. Francis has created a delightful tale bringing the myths and legends to life. FREE SPIRIT is definitely one of those "can't-put-it-down-books" we all hear so much about. Be prepared for a long night while you read about Diesa and Scanlon struggling to conquer each other's spirits when all they really want is ... each other. -- reviewed by Brenda Ramsbacher- Just Views
***WOW! This is a "KEEPER"! Non-stop from the first paragraph. It kept me reading long into the night. I highly recommend this one to all Fantasy Romance or Futuristic Romance lovers!*** -- Huntress
FREE SPIRIT is an excellent paranormal romance that sucked me right in and kept me there. The single POV style kept the hero's motives a mystery, which I found very interesting. You know a book is good when you pick it back up every chance you get, even on vacation! -- Marilyn Grall mgrall@mmcable.com
Congratulations on your book, Free Spirit. I finally had time to download it at 11:00 p.m. Saturday night and couldn't put it down (if you can say that about an e-book). Needless to say I didn't finish it until 4:30 a.m. and it was worth it. I couldn't have made a better choice for my first e-book.
I was intrigued with the concepts of supernatural powers you endowed in Scanlon and Diesa , fell in love with the secondary characters - Kittellan and Drake, and thoroughly enjoyed both the hero and heronie. A job thoroughly and well down. -- Jayne
3 stars
The plot of Free Spirit is well developed and intriguing. The story takes many twists and turns before finally uniting the hero and heroine.
This book is a very intriguing read. For fantasy and romance readers, this story has a lot to offer. The romance is skillfully woven through an interesting tale of fantasy and magic. -- Inscriptions

- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2012The story drew me in immediately even though the familiar plotline (heroine forced to be under the control of/obey the hero) has been done to death. I ended up finishing this very quickly. It was a different read for me. Darker than I expected and filled with a lot of hardship. The heroine is brutally violated, abused, or both so many times it turns my stomach. I found myself caring about every character (especially Kitt and Drake!) and absolutely hated the villian. The main characters both have flaws that kept me from truly liking them 100%. Scanlon switched back and forth between being a nice guy then a jerk and Diesa was never anything but bitterly angry MOST of the time. Both of their actions created many of the problems which I'll never understand since he could access her mind whenever he felt like it. Still I admit I enjoyed this book. Even though I wasn't very happy with certain parts of the story where the heroine was concerned it kept and held my attention all the way to the end!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2013I am skeptic of anything claiming to be a romantic fantasy novel, usually rather than romance, they are filled with unnecessarily explicit sex scenes. This novel, however, was a delight. There were sex scenes, but they were not overly explicit nor particularly gratuitous. I found the entire story entertaining and exciting. It was more adventure in many respects than romance. It was a little pat at the ending, seeming a bit too convenient that the main character would know so little about herself and her abilities, but it is fantasy after all. I downloaded this for free on Amazon, and it is one of the best edited freebies I have read. I would definitely ad this author again. It was entertaining and enjoyable. Perfect book for a rainy afternoon.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2019I have read this story a few times. It's one of my go to books when I want to read a heartwarming ending.
Diesa is a very stubborn, head strong dryad. She is sold to an elve, Scanlon. He also acquires Kittellan. The story follows their journey home, their coming to understand each other.
Fast paced , intriguing with twists throughout.
Warning. The story has a couple rape scenes and violence. 18 and older
It is well written and developed.
There is an HEA for all of the characters.
I would recommend this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2011This is my first review. I never felt the need before now. However I would be doing all my fellow readers a dis-service if I failed to tell you just how much I enjoyed this book! (I would have read it in one day if I wasn't a busy single mom and employed full time.) I recently started reading some romance novels again, (I haven't read romance since I was a teen.) however, my first love is in the fantasy realm. This book brought the two of them together beautifully. I will be watching for more from JennaKay in the future with great antisipation!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2012This story is very different from the other paranormal novels I've read. Most of the time you can predicted which characters are going to end up together but this sticks to the reality of love, which is love is blind and unpredictable. If you're into elfs and magic you'll enjoy this one.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2012THIS BOOK WAS GOOD. I ENJOYED READING IT. BUT IT DOES HAVE SEVERAL UNEXPECTED TERRIBLE THINGS THAT HAPPEN. IT HAS A HEROINE THAT STRUGGLES AND HAS HORRIBLE THINGS HAPPEN TO HER BUT SHE KEEPS SURVIVING.
