    Kevlar, or Liam Rudd, was once a policeman who gave that career up to be with the woman he loved. He joined the Houston Defiance MC and their life began together in harmony. They had it all, well Kevlar didn’t have his own family’s support but his extended MC family made up for that. Everything was fine until it wasn’t!

    I liked Kevlar in the first two books and getting to know him on a deeper level in this book showed I as correct, he’s a keeper. He truly is a great character with a strong protective attitude towards his family, both biological and nonbiological. He had had it so tough, a weaker person might have found a vice easier to use as a crutch. Jovie Hanson is another wonderful character who is strong and determined, even when life has let her down. She is a caring friend and protects those around her to the best of her ability. Savannah is someone I look forward to reading more about too.

    This book is jam packed with drama and action that often has you ready to bite your nails with anxiety. The excitement is top notch and continues right up until the last word, what an ending! I loved how unpredictable so many moments were in the story, while some I predicted or thought they were a possibility, most were surprises and I loved the twists and turns.

    I look forward to reading about Neon and his new woman, well hopefully they are the next book as it sounds so exciting.

    This is NOT a STAND-ALONE! This is begins a few hours after the previous story ended. Just like the previous stories, this will also end on a cliffhanger but it doesn’t involve the H/h. The great news is the next story is available to read right away through KU or for purchase.

    There are a few grammatical issues but they are minimal and primarily comprised of incorrect word choice / tense, typos, punctuation issues, missed words and an extra inserted word. There is also slang terms used that are not part of the typical US vocabulary. I am mentioning these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.

    Kevlar, aka Liam, is a patched member of the Defiance MC in Houston, Texas. He has left the MC and traveled to New Orleans based upon the tip he received from his brother, Ethan. Kevlar knew he had no choice but to leave even though he was completely innocent, because if he had been arrested and placed in jail, he wouldn’t have made it out. When he was a cop he put a lot of criminals away, plus ex-cops are never popular even if he wasn’t the one that arrested them.

    Jovie and Savannah left San Antonio after Jovie’s father and brothers tried to kidnap her so she could take her “rightful” place in their family’s syndicate. Jovie has no interest in serving the family, so when she got away from them, the two BFFs hit the road. When they arrived in New Orleans, they decided to stay one night before getting back on the road. They checked into a hotel and made their way to a bar on Bourbon Street

    While he just wants to stay in the room, Kevlar knows that his late wife would want him to get out and enjoy Bourbon Street. With that in mind, Kevlar calls the local MC chapter to make sure they know he is visiting, the he makes his way to one of Emma’s favorite bars when they visited years ago. There were limited seats, but he was able to find a table in the back.

    Not long later, a guy wearing a hat and sunglasses comes and sits down. Even though Kevlar doesn’t recognize him, Rush is apparently a famous rock star that has escaped his security team so he can just relax as a normal person for a little while. Rush and Kevlar sit, talk and drink.

    After they got their drinks, Savannah and Jovie made their way to the outside patio, but there are no tables available. Maybe it is luck, or fate, but Savannah spots two open chairs at a table with two guys in the back. They quickly make their way to it and ask if they can sit with them

    Savannah and Jovie immediately recognize Rush, but agree to keep his identity to themselves. They all settle in and enjoy themselves, then Jovie and Kevlar are left by themselves when the other two decide to dance.

    Jovie captured Kevlar’s attention as soon as she sat down and his interest hasn’t wavered as they continued to talk. Kevlar had shut his self off from female contact after his wife died, so to say he is surprised by his body’s reaction to Jovie is an understatement, even though he doesn’t plan to act on it.

    The night ends with Jovie drinking too much, getting sick and Kevlar taking care of her for the night. Savannah and Rush apparently had a great night together and the four of them make plans for breakfast at Cafe du Monde. They make their way there and they all get to see what Rock Star treatment is when the line is too long for them to wait in because of Rush’s timeline. They have a great time and bid their new friend good luck on his tour.

    Kevlar finally gets word that he can return back to Houston, as his name had been cleared. He offers Jovie his protection when he finds out she is on the run. She didn’t share the details, but agreed to talk about it all with his club if they agree, which they do, reluctantly because of everything that has been going on with them.

    So the three of them pack up and get on the road to Houston, Kevlar on his bike and Savannah and Jovie in a car. Kevlar went through an intersection only to see a car ram into their car, flipping it over …

    Kevlar and Jovie are so perfect for each other. They both know but getting past the ghosts haunting both of them is the real hurdle. Kevlar trying to get past guilt of his dead wife and Jovie escaping her past and family!

    This book has a lot of love and growing feelings. Along with A HELL OF A LOT of action. Actions scenes in books can get confusing but KE really knows how to describe them to a “T”! So much happened to Houston Defiance in this book of the series! Moving on now to the next!

    An epic tale of family, love, loss, and brotherhood. KE Osborn’s fugitive from the first few pages breaks your heart and then starts putting it back together again with such a well written story that has you feeling everything Kevlar and his girl jovie feel. The characters and pace of the story is perfect for this story with Kevlar being through much and now finding solace and new love with jovie. KE has taken the time to really think about how and what the characters are feeling and going through and writing the perfect words.

    At first I didn’t think I was gonna like this book as much as tZero and Wraith book but my good it was so much better then expect.

    As Jovie would say “don’t judge a book by its cover”. I adored Kevlar. My heart broke for him and I was so happy when he found Jovie. He helped and protected her but she helped him just as much.
