- Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseFull Disclosure is a highly detailed account of a scenario that any country in the world could be experiencing at this very moment.
The story takes place in a small, obscure town . . . so obscure, in fact, that the reader wonders why such a place would be singled out as the best site for such an impact-laden activity.
While one might raise an eyebrow at the specific reason (known only to the President, particular staff members and certain military higher ups) for the event in this book, one can easily substitute almost any other significant event and realize that the same response from those in power could easily occur. This book is an example of how the fate of many can wind up in the hands of just a few.
In Full Disclosure the government and military have hidden information related to UFO sightings . . . for quite a long period of time in fact. It’s not a surprise that those in power aren’t the only players. A third group also exists . . . working on their own and with their own agenda without the apparent knowledge of the obvious players.
As with other books by Mr. Gates, there are multiple characters, but I found them easy to keep track of. Of course, there are the usual few that keep the reader guessing as to which side they’re on and which side actually IS the good side. Mr. Gates’ characters are fleshed out enough that I felt as though they were real.
We do eventually learn why Silverline, Texas was chosen, who chose it and for what reason. When I got to that part of the book, I thought that many readers might say that this situation was highly unlikely. I found it completely believable. A huge amount goes on in the running of our country, as well as every other country in the world, that the populace knows absolutely nothing about and perhaps could not even fathom.
Mr. Gates has done it again. His experience in spy business is evident throughout Full Disclosure. He doesn’t just paint an interesting scenario, but gives us the opportunity to see the possible behind-the-media reality of such serious situations.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAs a thriller, ‘Full Disclosure’ is intensely readable. As a novel, it’s inspired, imaginative and superbly plotted with a cast of engaging characters.
It opens without preamble, hitting the ground running as Mr. Gates takes the reader along to witness a jaded professional assassin accomplish a night mission kill near Las Vegas. The taut, lean description of the hit is as fine a piece of thriller writing as I’ve read in a while. And thus the hook is set.
I won’t tell you the story, but what follows is big, and involved; high concept? Perhaps. Though complex, the storyline moves at a fast pace and with much action. The violence is creative and cold-blooded, involving narcotics, money laundering, treachery, and political skullduggery. It’s dramatic stuff. And the tension is enhanced by the writer’s clever use of both long and short, abrupt chapters along with rapid shifts of locale; from the empty chatter of a crowded diner in an obscure mining town in Texas, we’re swiftly taken to the Oval Office of the White House to observe the president and his advisors discussing strategy.
‘Full Disclosure’ is the product of a fertile and imaginative mind. Could it happen? Improbable perhaps, but in today’s world, I do believe it could.
This is the 4th book of Eric J. Gates I’ve read. It’s a terrific read; something you come to expect if you’re familiar with this writer’s stuff. I recommend it highly and look forward to more.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2020Format: KindleThis was my first full-length book by Eric Gates, but I will read more. Full Disclosure keeps your interest throughout, and I'll be thinking about it for quite a while, I'm sure. Entertaining and thought-provoking - a difficult combination to beat. It is clear the author knows his stuff. With some authors I find myself thinking something probably couldn't happen quite the way they wrote it. With this author, I found myself thinking I never would have thought of it happening that way, but it could! I did at times find it somewhat confusing, although I have to wonder if that was my weakness and a result of trying to read it too fast because of the excitement of the story. I might have to read it a second time to fill in a couple of things I may have missed. I did find it easier once I starting keeping track of names, aliases, and (possible) allies. (Not sure why characters were named Moore, Moses, Mason, Marge and McKay, but I'm glad a couple of them were minor.) Overall impression is that it starts out good and then gets better. I recommend this book and look forward to reading more by this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWhat if you lived in a small town in Texas, fairly isolated from the rest of the world? One day, the President of the United States comes on the TV and tells you that your country has been deceiving you for over 70 years. You are now cut off from the rest of the world until it is deemed safe again. At that time, everything will be explained. Thus begins this excellent novel by Eric J. Gates. What follows is a fast-paced thrill ride populated by the military, undercover agents including one brave and skilled American man and one badass talented British woman, drug kingpins and cartels, an experienced sheriff planning his retirement, and other various good and bad guys and gals, with the lines blurred as to which is which. I read this book after receiving a note from the author and a sale price on the book. In return, I received hours of entertainment and some lost sleep, and I’m happy with all of it. I recommend reading in a comfortable chair with your beverage of choice and perhaps a few snacks. Get ready to inhabit a world you have never imagined with a group of people you won’t soon forget.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent read!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book just reels you in, and to be honest, had me having to re-read the first few chapters to get my head around it all, as so much was happening! Given the author's background, you know you're in for a good, fully researched and scarily plausible book. Another great one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice read (as all his other books ;) )
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI've discovered this author and gone through his book in amazing speed. He is really good and writes well on different stories and subjects.
In this book, you start trying to guess what is really happening and where the author wants to bring you in the first pages. Once you start that, can't stop reading till the end. Who is doing what to this small village with so few inhabitants ? Aliens... army... politicians... ??? Read to find out ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars A thriller from start to finish.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseEric Gates has again kept me reading until the very end. Characters are well drawn out with very real personalities. Can I see this being an action movie - oh yeah! Sometimes I wished for a little more description of the town layout and scenery of the area. That is only in hindsight. I was kept reading quickly to get to the next part of the story; so I didn't really miss anything. If you like secret agent stories with plot twists and diabolical bad guys you will enjoy this book. I may have to reread it as I went through it so quickly the first time.

Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIf you're reading this on your Kindle, be patient as you may get a little confused in the time lines at the beginning, but it's well worth it. It's well written, exciting and a really good read. You definitely want to keep reading to find out what happens next; a great book to take on holiday so you don't have to put it down.
