5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Alternative History Thriller
Set in a world where the world governments that we know them as no longer exist and instead the world is run by mafia style syndicates. Hannah Pryde is the daughter of the leader of one of America’s biggest syndicates and while in Japan she marries Jiro, leader of one of Japan’s syndicates. Although somewhat reluctantly at first. They soon develop a rather passionate relationship and with their two syndicates allied they seem to be unstoppable. However there are always people in the shadows waiting to kill them and take over their syndicates. And when Jiro visits Cambodia it sets off a tragic chain of events that will have major repercussions for Hannah and Jiro. I found the alternative world aspect very fascinating and thought it was impressively imaginative. There was a bit of spice and a lot of blood and guts action that kept this book barrelling along until the dramatic finale. I highly recommend everyone reads this and I will be getting the sequel soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never a dull moment !
The moment I started reading this book, I knew I’d be in for a good read.
The author takes us on a trip from Japan to the US, and then to Cambodia where new characters are woven into the story.
Although there are numerous twists and turns, I believed I knew what was going on, when in fact I didn’t. There was suspense until the very end which I’m sure will continue in book two.
Great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top lady in a man's world!
Hannah Pride, soon to be married to the Oyabun of a local syndicate, arranged by her father in exchange for money to pay off a debt. She escaped and that's when she met James. She lives in a world where men dominate but this lady soon shows them how things are done!
A fantastic journey into this gangster world of dog eat dog, where everyone has to watch their backs. A fast paced story, skillfully written, that captures life in this dangerous world and the suspense of who will live and who will die holds you till the end. Lots of lovable rogues that you find yourself rooting for to steel the show and come out on top. A great way to conclude the book certainly leaves you wanting more. Highly recommended.
