- Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2005I read this book years ago, bought it, and have read it about twice a year ever since. It's style is almost science fiction, as Nathaniel Gorham, one of the signers of the Constitution, appears to a young senator's aide (Bryce Sherwood) to show him why a 27th amendment to the Constitution would be a bad idea. Bryce is taken to a place where the Constitution was never ratified, and shown how precious country's form of government is, and how much we take the check and balances of this government for granted. This is an excellent read and I highly recommend this, and all of Gerald Lund's books. For another science fictional type story, I suggest "The Alliance", also an excellent book on freedom.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2013I haven't finished the book yet. I am trying to take it slow because I have always been a fan of Gerald Lund. So far what I have read has been very good. I like the story line and the progession of it. It makes me think. Thant is something I really like. The premise of a north america without the constitution and how the governmet would be and it the whole united States weren't around makes you appreciate our freedoms much more.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2019This is the fourth time I have read this book. Bryce Sherwood, champion of the 27th amendment to do away with the US Constitution. Through a surprising event, Bryce is transported into a parallel universe. The USA as Bryce knows it, is now transformed into a continent divided into several nations. It is such an exciting book and so timely...almost prophetic.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2016This is a GREAT book. Everyone I have talked to and discussed this book with agrees that It would make an awesome screen play and could be the next blockbuster. It has the thrill of a National Treasure or DaVinci Code with a feel that keeps the reader connected with reality and asking, "is this happening right now?" Loved it every time I've read it.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2012All of Gerald Lund's books are exemplary, but if you love the constitution and freedom, and if you can enjoy a fantasy written in a future where the world has been blown apart and a group of survirors are taken by a military group who feel the best way to control behavior is to insert a probe into your neck that shocks you (or kills you) if yu do any violence...then this book is for you. I have read it many times now - this last one on my Kindle, and it is as good now as when I first read it.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2012I really loved this book until the part where time changes, I didn't agree with the writer and his thory of what would have happened if there was not a constitution.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2014He is s uch a good author you will never be diappointed when you read one of his books he is so clever and his thought process is amazing
