Stuart Kindle Edition
She is escaping the past . . .
Trouble could destroy their family
Stuart McGee needs the bounty from capturing the two men he’s trailing. That reward will allow him to buy the ranch of his dreams. When he encounters the men, he learns they’ve killed a young couple. The big surprise is there’s a baby in their cabin. What is Stuart supposed to do with a baby girl?
Georgina Potter has to get away from home. Her family treats her as a screw-up. She is determined to prove them wrong. Starting over as a mail-order bride might not be the best way but it’s the only way she can get away from her family. When she arrives she learns her groom has married someone else. What is she going to do with no money, no groom, and nowhere to stay?
When Georgina and Stuart marry, neither is convinced it’s the right choice. Baby Adeline captures the affection of both. Can working together as parents ignite romance for Georgina and Stuart? When trouble comes, will their fledgling relationship disintegrate or become stronger?

- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2020I was so delighted with this author’s story. The heroine was brought up in a well to do home but with a mother who was always finding fault with her from a very young child. This was a really different mail order bride story. It really took off for me as soon as the heroine arrived in town and started a brawl with her promised groom’s new wife. So funny. The layers of characters and warm relationships, that were built in this new family, was so touching. And heroine’s character certainly grows a back bone quickly and becomes an assertive adult as soon as she left her mother’s toxic home, particularly when her sister comes to visit unexpectedly. Hated for story to end. Well done!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2022This book has plenty of action, drama, danger and of course love! There is even a "cat" fight and moments of laughter. You'll enjoy getting to know Stuart, the bounty hunter turned rancher; his city girl wife from Baltimore; daughter Addie; people in Broken Wheel, ranch hands and life in the West!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2025I love reading all the books so far in this series. They are all good Hossome books. Good stories of love and adventure in the early old west. I think you will enjoy them too if you try them.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2020I've read three of the "Bachelors and Babies" books. I enjoyed the first one, but I didn't finish the second one. I just couldn't get into it and the situation was stressing me, but it might just have been me, not the book.
I really enjoyed this one. Caroline's stories aren't classics, but they are fun and light-hearted. They have just enough romance without being pornographic, and just enough danger without being bloody or crude. Kind of a cross between Janette Oke and Louis L'amour.
I would rate this book PG (people get killed).
I recommend this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2021The love story of Stuart and Georgina. Stuart is a bounty hunter and on his last hunt he kill two men who kill Adeline's parents. How he has enough money for his ranch and he promise to take care of Adeline.
After her fiance marry her sister, Georgina became a mail order bride. When she get to Broken Wheel the man she was go to marry, marry someone else. There was a fight and she and the other women end is jail. To get out she had to marry Stuart. Will she find love?
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2021This was a very good read. Georgina is from a wealth family in the East and Stuart is a Bounty hunter in the West. She is a mail order bride for another and he only want to run his ranch. How things change in a matter of time. This was a very well written book with twists and turns with a few surprises in it. I’m sure I will reread this book in the future. Love it.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2020The story kept my interest but didn’t stir my emotions. It would have been more engaging had the sentences not been so choppy. The times it was the most realistic was when the men followed their noses to the dinner table. I liked the way Georgina took to the ranch life without complaint and that Stuart stood up for her. It was clean, diverting, and had a happy if predictable ending.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2020It would be his last bounty hunt, however he was to late to stop the two outlaws from killing the young couple. When he arrives the outlaws fire on him and he has to shoot them. The wife is dead but the husband is still alive. He asks Stuart to take care of Adeline. He promised and the man died. Stuart went in the house and found a little toddler in the house crying. Sruart comforted the baby then he buried her parents, tied the outlaws to hus horse. Loaded their wagon with a lot of things for her, took their cow so he would have milk for Adeline and left for town. He wentvto the sheriff and told him what happened. While there he found Georgina in jail. Talked her into marrying him to take care of the baby.
You have to read this fabulous book to find out if they fall in love and live happily ever after or what happens to them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stuart
Caroline Clemmons this story of your about Stuart has got to be one of my favourite stories and I am sure I will be reading it again very soon. It is so different from the normal Mail Order Bride stories, you put so much life into it making the reader feel as if they were there taking part in it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Spunk and tenacious
Opposites attract, and sometimes you need to expect the unexpected. I never thought this heroine would indulge in a catfight, but she did, and wore her battle wounds well. I would read more by Caroline Clemmons

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely story
I look forward each month to the new book in this series. They are short stories but are entertaining and who can resist a man caring for a baby! In this book Georgia had a lucky escape but was in the right place to help Stuart with the baby. They made a lovely couple.

2.0 out of 5 stars Read like a cheap fifties western
This is the first in the Bachelor & Baby series that I have not enjoyed. Reading it brought back memories of the cheap westerns made in the fifties where everything fell into place and the bad guys received their come uppance with little or no effort at all.
The writing was childish and stilted with absolutely no emotion or feelings to engage the reader at all. The dialogue was stiff and the plot was more like a farce.
